Extremely disappointed with the quality of barber here…read more The first barber I went to did a pretty good job the first 4 times. I stopped giving him instructions on the 5th cut. The 5th time he gave me the worst haircut I've had in memory. Cut it way too short on the back of my head which led to my cowlick sticking up for literally a month no matter how much product was put in it. Unacceptable to make this bad of a mistake after cutting someone's hair this many times and being given precise instructions the first 4 times. This barber also kept giving me styling clay (doesn't work for my hair) rather than pomade when I asked for pomade specifically. Finally on the 4th cut I pointed out the label on the fking can which says pomade and said "this is pomade dude the other one is styling clay, read the label". He didn't like that but whatever. I complained to the owner about the results of the 5th cut and asked him if the owner could fix it on my next visit. To the owner's credit, he attempted to fix it free of charge. That's where the credit ends. There were several actions the owner took which were unprofessional and reflected extremely poorly on his skill, attention to detail, and ability to admit mistakes. I took the time to show him 5-7 pictures including examples of good haircuts and the terrible haircut Barber 1 had given me. He joked, verbatim "that actually looks kind of cool" in one of the shots where my hair looked terrible. Glad he could find the humor in an upset customer's situation. I explained to him multiple times during and before the cut that my hair needs to have sufficient length to avoid sticking up. He was careful not to trim the back given what the previous barber had done, but gave me a FADE ON THE SIDES. Now my hair will stick up worse than before for at least 3 weeks. When I told him he messed this up he said "oh a little product will fix it." No dude. No amount of product in the world will cause my hair to lay flat when its cut this short. Also he couldn't even do the sideburns properly! I had to fix it myself with a razor later. Pathetic! When he realized that he had cut it too short and that my one bald spot was showing, he said "Oh well it is what it is we're not trying to cover it up". What a joke of a professional. I've had my hair cut by many experienced barbers. Barbers with a tenth of his "experience" have recognized my bald spot and been thoughtful enough to layer it so it doesn't show. I told him to his face "When it's cut correctly the bald spot doesn't show". He would not take accountability for doing a bad job, saying "your hair is difficult to cut, it's hard to do it right on the first time, if i didn't cut it this short it would look bad etc..." He also said "you get what you pay for". My favorite barber in Monroe charges $25 relative to his $80. He understood how to cut my hair perfectly from the first time and has never messed it up. All in all, this place is 100% style over substance. They charge a high price and have nice furnishings. If you are looking for a skilled cut and have difficult to cut hair, I would reconsider. Herrcutters in Darien are extremely professional and have the quality to back up their price. Matt at Matt and Louie's is phenomenal in Monroe but don't take reservation so be prepared to wait.

I moved to CT about three years ago and originally found Paolo at The Haircut Place in Old Greenwich. Since the first haircut I knew his work was quality. Since, he has grown himself as a name and a brand...he has moved on to owning his own shop, Royal Cuts Studio. I tried a few places in the Greenwich/Stamford area while he was setting up his new studio but they were expensive and the quality of cut was lacking compared to what I was used to from Paolo. Once the shop was opened I was glad to be back with Paolo getting the finest cut around. It's great to see a young guy succeed like he has, especially because he is a master of his trade. With Paolo you get what you pay for. His work is impeccable and he is very detailed. If you're looking for a cheap, quick haircut then maybe stick to Supercuts. Otherwise go see Paolo and be pampered, you'll never go to another barber again. read more

I spent a few weeks looking for a new place to have my hair cut locally (I'm picky and hesitant about letting just anyone cut my hair), but I wasn't sure about the places I was finding, despite some good reviews of those businesses. I decided to expand my search, and I found Paolo's business on Yelp. The positive reviews gave me a great impression and high expectations, and so I traveled 25 miles to Connecticut. The reviews were all accurate, and I got the best haircut I've ever gotten. Paolo asks you what you want to do with your hair, takes his time and he doesn't rush through his work, pays attention to detail, tells you what he's doing, and is very polite. The space is also very clean and professional. I installed Yelp to leave this review. Paolo gives the best haircuts and styling that I've ever had. Prices are good. His attention to detail is superb. Easy to converse with, but happy to work in silence if you prefer. I was a happy customer for three years. I just moved to another state. First haircut not from Paolo was horrible. Since I'm getting married in 3 weeks, I asked Paolo what he used to do to my hair. He gave me detailed instructions on tools he used, lengths of guards, and even included visuals of where he would change tools: "Move to a #4 clipper until you get two fingers above your ear." He knows I moved, and I can't give him any more business. He took the time to give me all this info because he genuinely cares about people. Go see Paolo. You won't regret it. read more

I met Paolo at the shop he used to work at before he opened up Royal Cuts and I am glad I did. The first time I met Paolo, I was looking for a different hairstyle. After picking one, Paolo sat with me for at least an hour and a half to explain how to style my hair properly. It was the first time I saw a barber take such pride in his work. By the way, I was his last appointment of the night, which was already an hour after the shop had closed. Royal Cuts is hands down the best place to get a hair cut in Stamford. I've been to multiple barbers/salons in hope of finding someone who can cater to the perfect haircut and I'm more than relieved to have finally found someone! Just got my haircut last week at Royal Cuts and I have to say that it's the best haircut I've had in the USA (I've been living abroad in Europe for many years and quite frankly, men's hairdressers and barbers are much better there) until I came across Paolo at Royal Cuts. I hadn't cut my hair in a long time so it was very long, I showed Paolo a few pictures of myself when I had a fresh cut and he reassured me that he'd make it look great. Paolo is a great stylist and extremely meticulous. However, he takes too long and sometimes I'm in a rush. Great conversationalist and a great guy. But he has screwed up my appointments a few times and couldn't get me in until way later when I wasn't available. He a tad pricy, but you're paying for the time. Overall, good experiences but the timing, messing up my appointments, and price is a little off-putting. I really like the guy but I don't think I'll be back. Apparently, Yelp and Paolo decided they didn't like my honest review and unrecommended it. So -1 stars for shady and just dishonest business practice on both sides. read more

Just left Royal Cuts for the first time. Paola's attention to detail is unsurpassed. The fact that it is a one chair shop with no other waiting customers, allows for his undivided attention. He listens to any concerns you may have about your hair and actually cuts accordingly. It's the best cut I've had in years. The price is a little more than a typical barbers cut. Met Paolo at LA fitness. I approached him because he seemed to be using a good gel and asked him where I could get it. He then told me he owns a little studio and cuts hair. I needed a haircut so I decided to give him a try. All I can say is he is a very awesome guy and you call tell hes doing what he likes. Hes passionate about his work and easy to talk to. Don't go anywhere else! The attention to detail Paolo gives to your cut is unlike anything I've experienced in any salon.
