Excellent Haircut! I picked Paolo based on his yelp reviews and the experience exceeded my expectations. I showed up at 6:15pm and had to wait a few minutes, which is expected. His studio is in a shared working space with other hair and makeup studios - very cool concept. But his studio feels very private, I loved this aspect - its not like most salons where other people are waiting and watching you get your haircut. Nice setup! I went for the 45 min haircut experience, most of the other places I've been have been 20-30 min. He really took his time to understand the type of cut I wanted and the length, we started a bit longer so I could see if thats what I wanted first. He used various techniques which was fun to watch, you can tell this guy enjoys his craft. He is super friendly, easy to talk to but not overbearing. My cut came out great and I'd never had a straight razor to clean up the lines before. I will definitely go back, I think for the price - he went above and beyond my expectations. While my haircut was good, not great or bad, just good, the price and experience was just okay. I think the price is a bit too high for a basic haircut, though the straight razor at the end was a nice touch. The only reason why I am giving him 3 stars is because he was not on time for our appointment (I was the first slot of the day) and showed up almost 30 minutes later. Had I not gone into Home Goods to shop with my gf, I would've just gone home and wouldn't have bothered coming back. If I am going to pay $40+tip for a haircut by appointment only, the least that could be done is arriving on time for said appointment. read more

I've been going to Paolo for years. Just recently Paolo was booked up so I took my son to the new barber in his shop, Nestor. My son is young and still has a hard time with haircuts but Nestor was calm and professional, even with a screaming, flailing and crying baby! Even after all that the cut came out well and was quick. It's good to see Paolo expand his shop and bring on a talented barber to round out his new bigger shop. Hand's down the best barber in Stamford and worth the trip to CT. I've been coming to Paolo for over a year now and find it every convenient that I can book the reservation on-line and just show up. He pays attention to detail, takes his time, and thoroughly listens to understand what you really want. While he isn't the cheapest barber in town you get what you pay for! I'd much rather spend a few more bucks knowing I am getting a good haircut then waiting four weeks for it to grow out. read more

Paolo is a great barber. Don't expect a quick in-and-out cut, but great things take time. However, it's not cheap (which I guess you have to expect in Stamford, but I used to go to him because it was only $30... then he raised it to $40). He pays attention to detail, takes his time, tries to understand what you really want, and even remembers when you come back. My only knock is the price. He was the best value in town until he raised the price to $40 for a simple hair cut. Now there's not much that separates him from any other salon in town. read more

My brother and I moved into the Stamford area about a year ago. He spent his first whole year trying diff places and no one can cut his hair the way he wanted so he will always end up with a bad haircut. So after doing some research on the Internet we finally came across Paolo so we decided to stop by his Studio. Paolo has a very Cool Studio, very clean and very welcoming. He gave my brother exactly the haircut that he was looking for. He took his time to give my brother a precise and well done haircut. He is definitely quality over quantity! Paolo Gave my 9 year old son a fantastic haircut. My son has straight hair with a few funky cowlicks, but Paolo was patient and professional. My son liked him so that's good enough for me! Usually by this time, other barber's styling has gone with the wind.... but my hair has retained much of the structure and artistry that Paolo cut with his scissors, razor blade, and clippers. I've been going to Paolo for about half a year now and I have been very happy with my haircut every time I go (I go every 2-3 weeks). He never assumes you want the same haircut, so he always asks questions before he does anything. As an asian guy, it's very difficult to find a barber that is adaptable to the texture of my hair (i think only asian people would understand this), but it does require some additional detailing to make the hairstyle look clean and neat. The razor blade finish is a great plus as well. I highly recommend him. read more

Paolo is a terrible business man. Made an appoinment at 8am and after waiting in parking lot for 30 minutes he calls and says he forgot and wants me to come back at noon. Says he has a 9am appoinment and can't fit me in until noon. This guy is clueless and his skills are overated. read more

Interesting setting, he has a private one-chair shop in a large building subdivided into suites.
