Extremely disappointed with the quality of barber here. The first barber I went to did a pretty good job the first 4 times. I stopped giving him instructions on the 5th cut. The 5th time he gave me the worst haircut I've had in memory. Cut it way too short on the back of my head which led to my cowlick sticking up for literally a month no matter how much product was put in it. Unacceptable to make this bad of a mistake after cutting someone's hair this many times and being given precise instructions the first 4 times. This barber also kept giving me styling clay (doesn't work for my hair) rather than pomade when I asked for pomade specifically. Finally on the 4th cut I pointed out the label on the fking can which says pomade and said "this is pomade dude the other one is styling clay, read the label". He didn't like that but whatever. I complained to the owner about the results of the 5th cut and asked him if the owner could fix it on my next visit. To the owner's credit, he attempted to fix it free of charge. That's where the credit ends. There were several actions the owner took which were unprofessional and reflected extremely poorly on his skill, attention to detail, and ability to admit mistakes. I took the time to show him 5-7 pictures including examples of good haircuts and the terrible haircut Barber 1 had given me. He joked, verbatim "that actually looks kind of cool" in one of the shots where my hair looked terrible. Glad he could find the humor in an upset customer's situation. I explained to him multiple times during and before the cut that my hair needs to have sufficient length to avoid sticking up. He was careful not to trim the back given what the previous barber had done, but gave me a FADE ON THE SIDES. Now my hair will stick up worse than before for at least 3 weeks. When I told him he messed this up he said "oh a little product will fix it." No dude. No amount of product in the world will cause my hair to lay flat when its cut this short. Also he couldn't even do the sideburns properly! I had to fix it myself with a razor later. Pathetic! When he realized that he had cut it too short and that my one bald spot was showing, he said "Oh well it is what it is we're not trying to cover it up". What a joke of a professional. I've had my hair cut by many experienced barbers. Barbers with a tenth of his "experience" have recognized my bald spot and been thoughtful enough to layer it so it doesn't show. I told him to his face "When it's cut correctly the bald spot doesn't show". He would not take accountability for doing a bad job, saying "your hair is difficult to cut, it's hard to do it right on the first time, if i didn't cut it this short it would look bad etc..." He also said "you get what you pay for". My favorite barber in Monroe charges $25 relative to his $80. He understood how to cut my hair perfectly from the first time and has never messed it up. All in all, this place is 100% style over substance. They charge a high price and have nice furnishings. If you are looking for a skilled cut and have difficult to cut hair, I would reconsider. Herrcutters in Darien are extremely professional and have the quality to back up their price. Matt at Matt and Louie's is phenomenal in Monroe but don't take reservation so be prepared to wait. read more

It was a quiet afternoon for a Wednesday. We were in town visiting family and decided to get a haircut last minute. I was able to make a phone call and get an appointment the same day. Some might consider it difficult to find the entrance, but if you were walking there is a sign on the sidewalk outside. It is rather easy. In fact, when making the appointment, they made a note of letting me know how to find it. The shop is very inviting and the people are friendly. Richard was able to take care of me. The location looked absolutely amazing and it seems like there are tons of happy customers coming out. My experience was unfortunately terrible and not nearly as relaxing as my typical haircut. The issue I believe is with the young tatted up hair stylist who I received (seemed like the receptionist passed me off to her). From the beginning she was rushing everything and there didn't seem to be any "precision". 20 minutes after walking in she had crammed in a shampoo, haircut, $75 less in my pocket (still tipped her 25% like I do anyone in service for that relies on this money), and a whole lot of insults/jokes about her other clients (certainly doesn't make me want to be one). I would suggest there is an increase in focus on quality given this shop being branded as higher end experience. My feeling was that I was given the bare minimum and rushed out the door with an uneven haircut where even the lowest price barber shop would go over their work once or twice to catch any additional errant hairs. I would welcome the opportunity sometime in the future to try a different stylist at this location but it seems from the start because I came dressed for my workout and I was new that the receptionist gave me the bottom of the barrel option (and she knew it) since I could tell they shuffled around what they were telling me. read more

No. That's all I can say. I read all of the reviews and I was so excited to try this place. I grew my beard out super long in hopes of having a even, great shaped, short cut applied. I showed photos on my iPhone to the "barber" of my favorite shape length (photos of me & my short beard. I explained EXACTLY what I wanted. Initially I had booked the royal shave (?) and beard cut even though I'm bald because I know I love a hot towel and a straight edge razor. I explained that I like "clean straight lines" I used words like "intentional" and "short". Instead... what she gave me was a run of the mill clipper shave. Something I could have done at home. After she thought she was done I asked for it to be done "shorter". My neck was still a stubble-mess. And then I was told "I WAS LUCKY" because her next appointment wasn't there so she had the time to run the clippers over my face again????!!!!! No "pampering" no beer, no hot towel, no straight edge razor. No great beard cut. Today I shaved off the mess she left, I'll regrow my beard and take it somewhere else next time. OK I am updating my review b/c everyone keeps asking me about Kevin and where Kevin went... YES Kevin left...so what did I do, well now I use Dawn...she gives an even better cut and the place still offers everything you want (even BEER) in a high end barber so just because someone left doesn't mean I am leaving too (that is for all the people who are messaging me). This is not like following your bartender to the bar across town if they left your current watering hole...there isnt another Montana for Men down the road...so just find another chopper. You're in good hands at this place, get a new barber and enjoy...perhaps a change of pace and conversation will be nice or maybe some peace and quiet will be nicer. read more

I'm not a business man who makes 6 figs, but I do enjoy the finer things in life from time to time. This establishment was excellent. I received a hair cut and a shave. The hairtdresser/barber was friendly and a pleasure to deal with. So this was my first straight shave exp. ever. It definitely very relaxing and I was given a very good shave... however, I never knew the price of the shave. It's not on their horrid website, and I couldn't see a price hanging anywhere behind the counter. The total price out the door was $115.00, and then I gave a $20 tip. The only place to get a decent cut and color in Fairfield County, quality is right up with top Manhattan salons, please commuters, you dress well, spend on your clothing but your hair looks like you went to a family/women salon, or old time barber cant figure this out as I have always searched out the best...gentleman, while you still have a head of hair, do it some justice and get it cut correctly!!! read more
