My friends and I decided to hit up this pizza joint before it closed (9pm on a Sunday), and it was great! I have a coworker who would bring leftovers for lunch, and it always smelled great. Service: great! Very nice. Food: We got the Sicilian, Margherita, and Cajun pizzas. My favorite was by far the Margherita Pizza. It was on point! The Sicilian and Cajun lacked flavor compared to other pizza restaurants I've been to. Atmosphere: Casual. Local. I docked them a star bc we saw a roach inside the restaurant crawling up the window. It was at least a 2 in Long roach. Didn't deter me from eating obviously, but I was freaked out when I first saw the roach. Great pizza. This is a great place with a great Memphis feel to it. The staff is friendly and lots of fun. My wife and I made a meal of appetizers. This was our first time there (won't be our last) so we didn't know the portion sizes. An appetizer is big enough for a full meal. We had Meatballs, Goat Cheese Fritters, and Baked Ravioli. Goat Cheese Fritters- AWESOME- Great tasting gooey goat cheese in a crispy shell. Tasted absolutely amazing. Baked Ravioli- Good flavor but probably not homemade. It is tasty though. Meatballs- These were really great with a very light taste even though they were large. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because the Marinara sauce tasted pretty generic. Not a lot of flavor. This place is a step back in time. The High Point shops are all cute-as-a-button, and this pizza parlor is no different. I feel like I'm in the 1950's every time I go. The pizza is great and I love sitting at the tables inside and out - I'll always run into someone I know (granted, I live in the area). There are always parents with kids at the tables and the grocery store next door makes for great people watching. It is just a comfortable, family-friendly, at-home place. I want you all to know that I finished my meal at High Point Pizza well over an hour ago, but my hands still smell like butter. The crusts are buttered, which means at a), they're extra delicious, and b) they'll make you want to chew on your fingers long after the meal is over. Though you can order whole pizzas at High Point Pizza, I opted for two slices - one cheese, one sausage. The New York-style slices were huge and had thin, crispy crusts. They had clearly just come out of the oven when they arrived at my table, so I had to grab a knife and fork to make eating them more manageable (at least until they cooled down a bit). A good pizza can be hard to find, though. High Point Pizza is located in a small shopping center deep within an East Memphis neighborhood. It's family-owned and family-friendly - there's a Ms. Pacman table console and there's bound to be something on the menu of pizza, sandwiches and salads to please everybody. I don't often write reviews but when I do it's either really good or really bad. This is REALLY GOOD! What a hidden gem! I have been here several times and have not been disappointed. Their pizzas are delicious handmade thin crust with fresh toppings. Have had the meat lovers, margherita and one with Chicken (don't remember the name) Then I discovered the sandwiches. The Cuban is good, the meatball is amazing....and it's the bread that seals the deal. I tried the soup this week and it was like your grandma would make. These guys seem to enjoy what they're doing and it shows! Looking forward to trying one of the Thursday specials! read more

This place is highly underestimated. The location, a very unassuming old strip mall next to an old grocery and barber shop. I thought this would be a go to neighborhood joint, merely existing out of convenience, although I was VERY wrong. This is some of the best pizza I have had. Since I'm stil fantasizing about it, I should tell you that it's a mix between soft and crispy crust. Think crispy crust on the bottom, and soft fluffy crust on the top. We had the everything pizza and it was full of toppings and flavors. We ordered the large for 2 but we could've gone with the medium. We also opted for the cheese bread and it was absolutely fabulous. Come to think of it, I think they brush the pizza crust with garlic butter- I'm not entirely sure, but it is some kind heaven that they have going on in there. If you are looking for convenience, great prices, and some of the best pizza around, this place is no joke. The food here is great. I opted for a 10" pepperoni and mushroom pizza and a side of meatballs. The pizza was delicious and the crust, oh MY, the crust was delicious. The meatballs stole the show though. Three large meat-UH-balls (sorry I had to) covered in their homemade meat sauce. I was only able to muster half of my pizza with the side. Which brings me to why I only give them 4 stars. They don't offer slices as an option all the time. Their pizza is pricey and for one person, I didn't want the whole pie, even a 10". I came here as part of a UYE as Kyle had the brilliant idea for a Memphis Eastside Pizza Parade, whereby we went to 4 pizza places over the course of a Sunday afternoon, and this was Stop Nos 2 on the parade. So I really loved the shoppes - it reminded me so much of when I lived in Canberra where each suburb is ringed around with its local shops! They had a special going on for St. Paddy's and so the 6 of us decided to get half a Dubliner and half Wild Mushroom and it was cut into x12 pieces, so everyone got to try a piece. I loved the zestyness of the Dubliner - the cheese included an Irish cheddar, which really added a zing. Compared to the Dubliner, frankly the Wild Mushroom wasn't that great. I liked that it was fresh mushrooms, but I wish it was either more mushrooms or less cheese? That earthiness I associate with mushrooms was missing? Maybe adding some truffle oil to the mushrooms would elevate it? Apart from the Dubliner - they had a great light beer, if wheat beers are your thing - the Nitro White Ale was excellent and thanks to Yelper Daniel for sharing it around! Tiny and not really conducive to eating in, but there are tables outside and if you are at the pub right behind just tell them you are there and they will walk it over. I finally made it to High Point Pizza today with 3 associates for lunch. 2 had the meatball subs, 1 had cannelloni, and I had the lasagna. Atmosphere - I really like it, I could enjoy coming here very often. Service - great, not crowded, service was a breeze. Food - OK. The salad was great, and the blue cheese dressing very tasty indeed. The sauce used in the lasagna, however, had a twang. One of my associates tasted it and his comment was right on, almost like they forgot to put sugar in the batch they made. Texture was perfect, I liked the meat in the lasagna, but the sauce was different. Looking forward to coming back (many times I hope) to try other items. What a great little pizza place! I love the High Point area, and the cute little retail area that boasts High Point Grocery, High Point Pub, and yes, High Point Pizza. As Kerry and Jolynna mentioned, the butter makes this crust. You can pretty much do no wrong with a hot buttered bread product, in my opinion, and to add sauce, cheese and pizza toppings? Divine. You can buy the whole pie or a slice or two, and enjoy on the patio while winding down with friends. For all these good reviews, I was expecting much better. I've been on the hunt for exquisite and affordable pizza, and it looks as if I should keep looking. If you like thin, greasy pizza, this is the place for you. I had a large "Loaded" and the toasted ravioli. The center of the pizza was soggy and floppy and couldn't stand up to the toppings. The remainder of the crust was greasy, but not in a delicious way... In a standing grease way. Also - when they say ham, they mean deli ham. One the plus side the sauce was good. There was a lot of activity in and around all the shops so it was a great day to sit out front and enjoy the day. I always like to order a standard pizza my first visit to a pizza place so we ordered a large pepperoni, how much more standard can you get? I love the crust! Buttery and full of flavor. Great texture, just enough crispness for my taste buds. Nice blend of flavors in the sauce and great mozzarella. All together it made for a great pizza.
