I've been going to High Maintenance for a few years, so it was a natural choice for me to use the salon for hair and makeup for myself and my bridal party on the morning of my wedding. I normally see Sabrina Sponable, but since she was unavailable I booked with Amanda for hair instead, and chose to book a haircut before my wedding as well to meet Amanda before my hair trial. Amanda was immediately welcoming and friendly, and did a great job with my haircut and hair trial, working hard to get things just the way I wanted. The day of my wedding, Amanda and Linda traveled to the hotel and did a phenomenal job with all five women in my party, and were so accommodating and complimentary the entire time. Everyone looked wonderful, and the looks lasted all night. This is such a fabulous salon, and I will continue to highly recommend it!

BEST HAIR SALON EVER!!!!!!! I go to Sabrina Pierone and she always leaves me amazed with her work. I have very thick hair and she never rushes it at all. She knows my hair better than me. She's also very kind and it feels like your hanging out with a friend at your appointment. I highly recommend booking an appointment here!

I got my lashes done 3 times at this studio by the same woman. The first time I had my lashes done I was thrilled and hooked for life! As a lifelong sufferer of allergies, I was shocked and amazed that I actually touched my eyes LESS with the lashes than without. I was really happy! The 2nd time I got them done I mentioned how my almost 80-year-old mother told me how lash extensions can cause permanent damage to your lashes. It was at this point, the woman who was in the middle of doing my lashes explained to me the difference between damaging lash extensions and non-damaging extensions and that the ones I was getting were expensive and time-consuming and that is how I knew the difference. She said the damaging kind was when they glued more than one natural lash together with one extension and that is what causes the damage. She told me she always puts one extension to one lash. The 3rd time I got the lashes they felt good for about 5 hours and then they started to BOTHER ME LIKE HELL! I was out and about all the next day and didn't have time to find a magnifying mirror with good light and stare at it for 30 min to figure it out. However, by the time I did, it was 11 pm at night on Saturday night. My left eye was red due to the constant lash irritation all day. When I FINALLY was able to see the problem, not only did I discover that many lashes were stuck together, but once I pulled them apart with tweezers I found out what the REAL PROBLEM WAS, and that was that there were several fake lashes (fans to be exact) that were glued to more than one natural lash!!! The very same thing she told me was damaging to lashes. There is NO way that this could have been a mistake. No WAY! So then, close to midnight, after 15+ hours of constant eye irritation, I was faced with a choice, and it was a no brainer: Get no sleep for a few nights and continue to feel like my eyes are being poked out with needles until the Salon opens in a few days OR Take them off myself that moment so I can actually get some rest and my eyes can start to heal. Which would you prefer? When I called High Maintenance Salon I spoke with the manager Linda who was actually super understanding and nice to me. She understood that it was a traumatic experience and said she'd talk to the owner to see what they could do to compensate me. How would you feel, if you were left with less than 1/3 of your natural lashes and eye irritation 5 days later?  What do you think would be fair? Well, apparently the owner of High Maintenance Salon thinks it's fair to offer me 20% off my next service there. WILL NOT BE RETURNING. I HOPE EACH PERSON READS THIS AND CONSIDERS THIS BEFORE BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT. Edit: Most times when a client reports a trauma the biz listens and tries to accommodate the damage (both physical and psychological). They don't tend to blame and invalidate the client's experience in a public setting no less. Many people would actually call that behavior gas lighting. The first time I got my lashes done I came in the next day and asked for more volume and I thanked the woman for turning me away. She explained that in order to add more volume she'd have to use processes that damage my lashes to remove what was already there first. I was impressed and it seemed to be she did have my best interest in mind. In fact, it was this very information that lead me to taking them off myself at 1am. My thinking was, I could not get sleep and have daggers in my eyes for another 48+ hours or take them off myself - either way there is damage - except one way ends my torment immediately. Then, after the Salon tells me: too bad! Want a discount next time? The woman who did my lashes tries to gaslight me again and I've attached a screen shot of the text thread. She says, you should have asked me, I am accommodating and would have taken them off with no damage! Well, that is the opposite of what she told me before, I'm not going to let these women at the Salon tell me that the right thing to do was call my eye lash lady at 1am to come to my friend's house to remove them.

I recently moved to the area and was nervous about trusting someone new with my hair. I was lucky enough to find Liz, who trimmed my bangs and gave me the most gorgeous copper-blonde color. It was exactly what I wanted! I will definitely come back. Ask for Liz, she's amazing.

Sabrina was ready for me right when I got there, and she took the time to understand exactly what I wanted.

Its fearless leader and his team of stylists play with scissors for the shear fun of it, and are the ride-or-dyes you and your hair have been looking for. Nestled into the ground floor of Troy's beautiful Proctor's Theater building on 4th Street, with its highly decorative front facade of brick and marble covered in glazed terra-cotta, it's no surprise to discover that the salon's insides match its outsides. The interior is seriously sophisticated, with light and dark grey walls serving as the perfect contrast against the large floor-to-ceiling windows and big, beautiful green plants that call the bright window seats home. The main floor is a neat little grid of beautiful styling stations, and mirrors, plenty of mirrors - even full wall-length mirrors - except instead of feeling like you're trapped in a funhouse, you're lost at Barney's, and loving it. A fun feature I really loved: each stylist's station is equipped with a mini Husky or Stanley branded tool chest on wheels, including a massive tool chest at the makeup bar. So like, not only does it add a cool masculine feel to the chic space, but I love the message that sends to clients, like, "Yeah, we work with tools, too!" Nice flex, guys. The best seat in the house, however, is in Christopher Brian's chair. Sure, he has a slew of super talented hairstylists working with him, but Christopher Brian speaks hair; English is his second language, and I've never had a bad hair day with him. Facts. Christopher works incredibly fast yet extremely precise, and with the eye and talent of a professional who's been behind the scenes at NYFW. I've long been privy to his next-level hair skills, and I'm incredibly happy to be back in his chair once again. He works in every color of the color wheel, but he's a self proclaimed Blonde Lover/Expert/God, and those are my people, so hair I am! I would behoove anyone with a scalp, and a pulse, to visit Christopher Brian Salon, sink into a luxe chair, and let one of its awesome stylists give you the change you're seeking! In a sea of talented professionals in the Capital Region hair game, Christopher Brian and his team are definitely top-tier!
