Salmon deviled egg at top, pork belly deviled egg below.

Loved this place! We had a large group and the Hideaway gladly accommodated us with a reservation. Our waiter (Jordan?) was great - funny, welcoming, and attentive. Ambiance was super cute! Drinks were great all around. I especially liked their old fashioned. We got both the salmon and pork belly deviled eggs and both were delicious! If I had to pick a favorite though, I'd actually go with the salmon. We also got the burnt ends, which weren't really burnt, and the okra which was a surprise hit. For dinner I had the house salad with steak and it was delicious. Outside, a band had started and a very mixed age crowd was dancing and having fun. It looked like a great time!

I flew in from San Diego, and my parents picked me up so we could come here for dinner. They had a great live band playing, but I was surprised they charged $10 just to sit on the patio and listen to the music--it felt a bit excessive. We opted to sit inside, where there was only one other couple. The atmosphere was quiet and a little chilly. For appetizers, we ordered the Brussels sprouts and the burnt ends pork belly. The pork belly was excellent--rich and flavorful. The Brussels sprouts had good flavor too, though they were a bit heavy on the sauce. I ordered the steak frites, which I enjoyed. The thin-cut French fries were especially good, and the aïoli added a nice touch. Our server was very friendly, offered great recommendations, and provided attentive service throughout the meal.

Poutine 6/2022

C'est magnifique!!!!! I visited Lafayette for the first time last weekend and checked my Yelp for some suggestions on where to go. Not much is open around here on Sunday's or Monday's- but the Hideaway on Lee is!! We showed up around 8pm on Sunday evening for dinner- and the place was packed! We were surprised to see that they had live music that night, and unfortunately there was a $10 cover per person if we wanted to sit outside. It was hot and humid thaf night so we ended up sitting inside and did not have to pay the extra money. I have to say- our dinner here was EXCELLENT. The specialty cocktails were amazing. The "Orange Blossom Special" was literally the best smelling drink I have ever tried.... IN MY LIFE. I know that's a strange thing to say- but I literally could not stop picking up my glass and smelling my drink! We started up our dinner, sharing the Poutine. Fresh cut fries soaked in a flavorful gravy, covered with cheese curds. For our entrees I ordered "Tante Jane's Salad" and added chicken. The veggies were all fresh, the dressing was light and flavorful and the chicken was juicy and well seasoned. My boyfriend ordered the Steak Frites, but unfortunately they were out of it- so he ended up getting the "cut of the day" steak. I'm not sure what cut it ended up being- but it was perfectly cooked- tender and juicy. Being our greedy selves, we also ordered a bowl of the tomato soup- It was excellent. All in all- the experience here was great. The service was fast, the employees were all nice and helpful, and the food was all prepared perfectly. Also, I have to say that the band outside was great too! There were a handful of couples outside dancing to the music. The atmosphere here is lively!! I would return!

Jalapeño lena

Came here with a group of friends and this place was literally a hide away since I couldn't even find the location. If you do get a chance to come here, I suggest ordering the smokestack lightning burger and poutine fries 1. jalapeño lena $7 cream cheese, jalapeño pepper jelly, bread & butter jalapeño, served with crackers. It was delicious, but I wish the appetizer came with more crackers for serving. 2. smokestack lightnin' $9 smash burger, sharp cheddar, onion rings, bacon and house made bbq sauce. If you had the Texas rodeo burger from burger King before; this is like a steroid upgrade version of it. 3. poutine $8 cheddar cheese curds, house made gravy. Indeed different but this poutine stole the show for me! You just have to try it 4. aioli blon fries $7 (v) truffle aioli, swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms. If you love a cheese skirt with delicious mushrooms served with fries, you gotta try this. 5. hideaway special $7 (v) swiss cheese, sauteed onions, bread & butter jalapenos, special sauce. Savory spicy fries that are on point. 6. Leadbelly $9 slow smoked pork belly, cucumber, carrots, spring mix, bread & butter jalapenos. I didn't get to try it but my friend said it was decent. 7. beignets $4.5 (ve). Good but simple beignets, as it should be.

Hideaway on Lee is a hidden gem! The food and service never disappoint. If you can catch an evening with live music you will be swept off your feet with the charm of this restaurant. The staff have always been so kind and provide the best recommendations. Our waiter Randy was wonderful! The staff seem happy to be at work and enjoy their jobs. The following are some of my family's favorite items: Brussel Sprouts, Pepper Jelly & Cream Cheese, Mexi Cali burger or grilled chicken, Tuna Steak Salad, & all the cocktails are amazing! The restaurant & bathrooms are clean. The landscaping is lovely and well manicured.

The Philly cheese steak was excellent. They will put it over a salad in place of the bun.

I admit, I've seen an abundance of these recreated villages, all across the US. Growing up, my…read moreparents were fond of them, so they've been a part of most vacations, and many of them tend to blend into one another. Vermilionville, however, stood out as one of the best, and is a memory I'll hang onto for a while. The attendants in period garb were friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer our questions. The woman with her spinning wheel even gave us a demonstration. She had taught herself to spin whilst working there and explained the excessive amount of hours it took to finish even one sweater. She also made it possible for me to try the bread pudding I'd been eyeing on the restaurant menu; she warned me they were closing in just 15 minutes so we rushed over and put our order in. Now, I'm not sure if their restaurant has its own yelp page so I'll just review it here. That pudding was the most delicious, most perfect bread pudding I've ever had, and I've tried quite a lot from some of the best places in NOLA. The top was crisply caramelized, and the center was a buttery custard infused with vanilla and cinnamon--an aromatic taste sensation. The server brought me two containers to go (an extra as I'd only asked for one!) and I was so excited to try it, I devoured the first one while wandering between the houses. There were some rather beautiful little homes, furnished with accurate historic decor, and I appreciated that we were able to look at things on our own, at our own pace, free from having to follow a guide. We visited on a day it was set to storm, but we were able to see most of the buildings before the sky opened up on us. We foolishly forgot to bring umbrellas of any kind, so we ended up darting between structures, and eventually taking refuge in the old church while the worst of the rain passed. It was atmospheric and memorable. We found some charming animals in a little barn--a donkey and two sheep and we said hello. There were even mushrooms, and among them we found a single chanterelle, so keep an eye out, fellow mushroom hunters! Lastly, you must leave adequate time to check out the gift shop. They have something for everyone, and much of it made by local artisans! I would recommend Vermilionville to anyone with an appreciation for southern history.

We arrived on a Thursday when they opened at 10am. The historical preservation and restoration work…read moreis wonderful. We talked to people dressed in period clothes. They shared historical details in a fun way, bringing the old houses and artifacts to life. The restaurant is onsite so we ate lunch. The food was absolutely amazing! The etouffee arrived in a cup with great flavor and plenty of crawfish (which I forgot to take a picture of). The etouffee menu item comes with a choice of 2 proteins, we selected shrimp and fish. The picture was after we ate half, so you get plenty of food. Every thing we ordered was perfectly seasoned. The bread pudding with praline sauce was wonderful (also not pictured). We would definitely recommend the restaurant as its own destination! The restaurant hours are 11am-2pm and the historical views are available 10am-4pm. Enjoy!
