Here in the hometown of Warren Buffett's mother is the Hide-Away Grill. It is a Nebraska gem. The smoked prime rib is a great bargain and delicious. I really enjoyed the shaded patio. It has a sand area for kids. Worth the drive from Pender, Fremont and Omaha. read more

We've lived in this area for a long time but we've never came here for dinner. The impression from the outside isn't the greatest. And it's also tucked away so it makes it hard to find. It's tucked away in a neighborhood. I wish it was more advertised because it's not something that you know about if you're not from the area. It is a beach theme. It is very clean when you walk in there is also a full bar and an outside patio area with sand. Our waiter was amazing. I appreciate that the waitress knew a lot about the food and knew her way around the menu. She suggested a bunch of food and we ordered a lot. Unfortunately because the food was so delicious and after two drinks I didn't take pictures of the other items. The kids menu is reasonably priced and comes with a soda. I ordered a chicken sandwich and I loved that my bread on the inside was toasted. I hate when I order chicken sandwiches at other places and they give me a plain cold buns for the sandwich. This place don't look like much from the outside but don't be fooled. Hide Away is legit! I came here on a whim when I was driving through town. I happened to be there right as they opened so the place was empty and the service was immediate. The vibe is similar to a low-key beach bar without the surf boards. The menu is typical bar fare but if you go on Friday and Saturday you will be treated with their special options: Smoked Prime Rib or BBQ Ribs. I had the Prime Rib and it was incredible! The spice rub and char was great along with the juicy rare meat. Definitely a winner in my book. My bill was $25. Overall I think Hide Away is a hit for West Point. It's a small town joint that could hold it's own in Omaha. read more

I can definitely see why this is a popular place in West Point. This is tucked away in a neighborhood and very unassuming from the exterior, but once you walk inside it has a very beachy feel. We could smell the smoker from outside so we had to sample the ribs and prime rib. Overall, both of the meals were really good, I would say the prime rib was stronger than the ribs. We had a party of 10 and the service was very prompt and attentive and our meals all came out at once in a very timely manner. I was impressed with the coordination they had here as there was another party of 10, who arrived at the same time, right next to us. One of the things I really appreciated about this place was a corner full of toys for the kids. It was awesome to be able to send them to this corner, away from other patrons, so we could enjoy our meals. read more

Service was great. Our server was very attentive despite it being unexpectedly busy for a Tuesday night. The food was very good. Well seasoned, fresh, and came out fast. I had the fish basket with fries. Couldn't complain! The atmosphere is fun and people are friendly. Appropriately named "The Hideaway", it is tucked amongst a neighborhood street. I have to travel to West Point a lot for work. I used to dread going to West Point, because I thought that their were no decent restaurants. That is, until I found this place. My first experience there started great. I sat at the bar and was asked what I wanted to drink. Assuming that they only had american macro-brews I ordered 'something heavy' I was pleasantly surprised when the bartender offered me a stout (microbrewery from Montana). The food has always been top-notch. This is what I want small town restaurants to be like (not boxed mash potatoes like you'll find at most places). Really great, home-cooked meals. I lived in Omaha for four years and was stoked that they get their fish from Absolutely fresh seafood. I have never ordered off the set menu. I just get their nightly special which have been varied and great each time. Stuffed pork loin with roasted new potatoes, turkey panini with a cranberry spread and corn chowder, and ribs (smoked in-house). They definitely have more 'traditional' menu items, but the specials always intrigue me the most. Deserts are made in house and are really good as well. The staff here is really friendly. They all knew my name the second time I came in. They are a joy to talk with over dinner. read more

The pulled pork is excellent, the rest of the food can be hit or miss. I had the pulled pork one night and a chicken breast with rice and vegetables the next. Everyone else said their meal was ok. I would have given this place three stars if not for the service. I came in after they had already stopped serving food and they stayed and made me a pulled pork sandwich because there wasn't really anywhere else to eat that night. We sat and chatted as I ate because there wasn't anyone else there, and they were so friendly I bought a t shirt. If someone from Hideaway reads this review, good on you good sir. read more

Great hidden gem! We always go here when we are in town to visit family. Side salads are served with nice crunchy wonton strips, which is an improvement over the standard basic iceberg offering. I usually order seafood, as it is hard to get good seafood in Nebraska, yet their fish is always fresh and not overcooked. Full bar serving anything you could want, and the service is always very good. This place fills up fast, so the dining room can be a little loud and busy. read more

The service was good. I ordered the smoked prime rib with garlic mashed potatoes and it was probably one of the best I've ever had, couldn't complain about the potatoes either. Went to the Hideaway last night at 7:15 p.m. With my husband and daughter. A man, I'm assuming the owner , asked how many. When we said three he looked around and said not tonight. Straight ahead of us was a table of 6 that was being cleared out and there was no one else waiting for a table. We immediately turned around and left after hearing that they weren't going to be able to serve us. The same man then came running after us in the parking lot and said that he was able to serve us. Hearing this after the fact was too little too late. The shock that owners of a restaurant would turn away customers considering it is a restaurant and people come and go quite often and we would have been more than willing to wait. We ended up going to JD's on the main street of West Point and had a delicious meal with very accommodating staff. As this restaurant was just as crowded as the Hideaway. Going to the hideaway made us realize that a restaurant is much more than just the food it is the customer service that definitely comes into play. We will never be going to this place again with the horrible customer service we received! read more
