There's so much to love about this property - the floor to ceiling glass windows, the cowboy tub, the daybeds overlooking the boulders, the jacuzzi on top of the hill, and so much more. You'll wake up to the most beautiful sunrises and go to sleep under the bright stars. This place is so special and if you have the opportunity to stay here, take it. Tip: Book on the weekday for the best price (there is a 3-night minimum). If you are unable to book this property, I recommend looking into other Homestead Modern rentals.

The property is close to town (and close to Joshua Tree National Park) and easy to get to, spacious and private with plenty of Joshua trees, yucca plants and native plants. The property is just lovely with three houses, the main house being quite large and cozy with the master bedroom and bath, and 2 other bedrooms and bath, a dining area and two living/lounge areas. The other house, where the pool is, has 3 other bedrooms and a bathroom. Perfect for all our guests. We had all the amenities we needed, kitchen supplies, towels, blankets. The decor is exactly what we wanted for our western inspired retreat; clean, minimal, but artistic. The yoga studio was a nice bonus, complete with mats and props. Brad (the property manager) and Caron (the owner) were wonderful hosts. Brad answered all my questions quickly and was very easy to correspond with. We would love to come back and rent again soon. Thank you Caron and Brad!

I am very plugged into the Big Bear rental community and have used other property managers in the past. I have also stayed as a guest in vacation rentals in Big Bear prior to owning my own. I was told years ago when we were looking for a new manager that Leanne was "best on the mountain" and after 4+ years I have to say we agree with that sentiment. She has her own properties up in Big Bear as well so she really understands what's important. She has somehow managed to form a highly effective team which is no small feat in Big Bear as it is often difficult to find hard workers! That alone is very impressive. Leanne has kept our place booked consistently these last 4 years even with all the challenges of being on the mountain (fires, blizzards, road closures, etc). If I ever reach out directly to Leanne she always responds promptly so she is very accessible to the home owners. Some of the reasons we left our last prop manager were because we were getting bad renters, last minute cancellations, and they did not support a higher end of service we wanted to provide (more amenities, personal touch, etc). With Leanne everything runs very smoothly and we have never been told they could not support what we wanted to do. I recommend Leanne all the time to others and some of my friends are also using her for their vacation rentals as well. If you are looking for a property manager I recommend interviewing 4-5 as they all vary and you want the best fit for your situation. Leanne was so easy to talk to and I read her management agreement in advance before deciding. You can learn a lot about the different PMs by reading there contracts!

On the wildlife issue: Whether it was rodent or bat droppings isn't the point -- either way, it's a health and safety hazard, and that's what my review addressed. On timing, we were told cleaning was signed off around 3:40-3:50 PM and we weren't given access to the unit until nearly 4:00 PM. By the host's own timeline, that leaves only a 10-20 minute window for this to have happened after cleaning -- or the unit wasn't properly cleaned to begin with. Either way, it should have been caught before a family with small children moved in. As for the house rules disclosing general wildlife possibility in Big Bear: a blanket disclosure doesn't excuse an active, uncleaned health hazard in the room our kids were about to sleep in. On "solution after solution": When we first called the property's staff, we were told there was no reported active issue at the unit -- no remediation or transfer was offered at that point. It was only after we contacted Airbnb support directly that a possible move to another property came up, and by then we chose to stay with family instead rather than lose more time getting our kids settled. To be clear, we never requested compensation, a discount, or anything beyond the refund for the booking we could no longer stay at and the playpen deposit. The mention of a future discount, and later a free stay at the owner's personal cabin, were both raised unprompted by her staff and the owner -- I only followed up to ask about the discount after her team had already brought it up, and we ultimately declined the cabin offer. On the Venmo/deposit point: This wasn't in my original review because it wasn't relevant to it; the owner raised it. For accuracy: we received both the Airbnb refund and the playpen deposit refund in full. The mismatch was in urgency -- the deposit was requested and paid promptly to get our kids settled, but getting it returned took three follow-up messages over a full day before it was processed that night. On the unannounced visit: While I was upstairs on the phone with Airbnb support trying to resolve this, the host sent an unfamiliar man to the property without confirming who was there or where. My wife and our two young children were downstairs. Regardless of exact positioning, having a stranger show up unannounced during an active safety complaint is not okay. On the personal outreach: We heard nothing from the owner personally until after this review was posted. At that point, she called, left a lengthy voicemail, and sent numerous long texts to my personal phone. Some of what was shared in that contact was inappropriate and unrelated to the situation, and I won't detail it here out of respect for her privacy -- but the manner and timing of it were unprofessional. Our original review reflected an accurate, factual account of what happened. We stand by it and won't be engaging further in the comments.

Vacation rental in Palm Springs is definitely a tricky space, and I was shocked about their failure on so many levels. Luckily I had enough complaints, they did let me terminate my contract. That is the only good thing I can say about them. Brad in response to your comments: Open air withheld over 900$ from the Arbnb property damages monies disbursed to me .... Your rationale was to reimburse yourself for cleaning that was ordered by Open Air! Again, this cleaning was order by open air Open air did not send Anyone from the team to come on sight to oversee the damages & cleaning, Open air Instead instructed me to handle and have cleaned whatever I felt like needed to be cleaned. Then open air reimbursed themselves!!!!!! This is only one example of the lack of follow up and oversight which would be expected from the management company.

I am very happy that I have met Brad and his team a year ago. OAH is a team of professional, experienced, responsible, and passionate people and that's literally everyone of them. They take good care of my home, the guests, and me! They are always on top of repairs, making the home beautiful, and keeping it in good shape. They also diligently screen our guests to make sure that they are good guests respecting the home. We had difficult guests and situations from time to time, they are always responsive and work around the clock to ensure our guests are always left satisfied with great reviews. I am a very busy person and I travel all around the world. I am in and out of LA. I just need to know that my property is in good hands and be able to sleep at night no matter where I am. Whenever I have a request, Brad and his team respond quickly and they always provide good solutions and advice. Before OAH, I was using another property management company that seems bigger and better but they left me with nightmares and feeling unsettled with how they managed my home, received disrespectful party guests, as well as not responding to my communication and I couldn't stay with them for more than 3 months so I truly understand how important it is to have the right team that I can trust. I highly recommend OAH with Brad, Julian, Juliet, and Kyle : )

The cabin itself was spotless and beautiful, and there are TWO hot tubs!! Plus, we didn't need to trek out to the Snow Play area because the backyard had a small hill we could sled down...we even saw others sledding down the street that the cabin is located on! Seriously couldn't have found a better place...it was meant to be:). Thanks to Grampa Mike, my boyfriend and I had the best intro to Big Bear...we hadn't vacationed in awhile, and this was just what we needed to get away from the hustle and bustle for a few days. I won't stay anywhere else...BESTEVER!!!
