This little place is awesome! The beer is great, the food is good, but atmosphere is next level. Nice place to hang out and just relax.

Came here 2 weeks ago on a Saturday night with a friend while our teens were at Whitetail. The…read moreplace is much bigger than it looks when you first walk in, and it definitely got busy and filled up just after 6. The service was great given the size of the place & how busy they were. I was going to order a cider and the server could tell I wasn't so sure, so she offered a sample. I ended up liking it and ordering one, but love that they do that as an option! My friend and I wanted just about everything in the menu & decided to share a couple things. We started with the Poutine. It was good, but a bit light on the cheese curds and on the saltier side. Maybe on purpose cause we were in the bar area? lol. Don't get me wrong, we still pretty much ate all of it. Then we split a burger and opted for a side of Mac-n-cheese rather than getting more fries. The burger was tender and really good, and the mac-n-cheese was amazing! I can't really tell you why, just creamy goodness that hit the spot. Try it for yourself and see if you can explain it. We ordered some Ruebens to go and our teens devoured them! So sadly I didn't get a chance to sample the Ruben, just the delicious crispy homemade chips that came with. Already planning for next time we're up there - we want to some Pierogis & the Prime Rib panini. Just wish there was a Pierogi sampler on the menu!

Everything was fresh and tasty. Definitely, we will get back to this place when we get close to this area.

I was really disappointed by the new Sign of the Horse location in Hanover. The original space was…read morecozy and welcoming; this new one feels cold, generic, and poorly thought out--honestly more like the Eagles than a place with any personality. And if I wanted that unimaginative vibe, I'd just go to the Eagles. We sat in a booth, but the bar area looked far more inviting--as long as you're facing forward and ignoring the afterthought that is the rest of the seating. The layout just doesn't work. I also didn't see any of the familiar faces from the original location, which was discouraging and made the place feel even less like the Sign of the Horse I remembered. When you walk in, if anyone is at the host stand, they grab a carafe of water from a cooler and lead you to your table... but no glasses. Are customers supposed to pass the carafe around communally? It was awkward and off-putting. The food was fine, but nothing special--and certainly not good enough to make up for the atmosphere. Overall, this move stripped away everything that made the place enjoyable. I won't be back.

With tables to sit at but lots others filled with people enjoying life, we could tell it was a place to be at. The service was with a smile, and quick and perfect. Food was delicious with good portions. The band was upbeat and wonderful. And the beer? We all had different ones and enjoyed them all! Best? We were lucky enough to meet the brewmaster, David. His enthusiasm and knowledge was amazing! Also lucky? Meeting Erin who shared the history of the beginnings of the brewery. What a grand evening. A place for locals, for sure, but also a welcoming venue to people newly stopping in. While I'm sure all the extras might not happen to everyone everyday who comes (or maybe it will), it is indicative of a place that knows how to make people welcome. I highly recommend GearHouse Brewing!

I opted for the barbacoa tacos which were very good. The meat was cooked nicely, the sauce was flavorful, and the addition of the pickled onion was perfect. Staff were excellent and took great care of us. We also enjoyed having a couple of TVs to keep up with the games going on--but also liked that TVs weren't the main focus of the space. She Said: We arrived at GearHouse after having a couple of beers at another Chambersburg establishment, and I'm so glad we opted to have our dinner here. First, after a day of disappointing beers during our travels, the IPA I had at GearHouse was terrific. Though they were out of cheesesteaks by the time we arrived, the pretzel that we shared was one of the better brewery pretzels we've had. I decided to have the Korean chicken bites appetizer for my main dish, and they were the perfect texture, just the right amount of spiciness for me, and excellent chicken flavor. I hope we come through this town again soon so we can experience more of GearHouse's beer and food. Potty Points: 4/5 potty points. No wait and clean--impressive especially when considering it was a busy Saturday night.

Ordered a flight and a mixed drink.  They have beer offering, wine and spirits.  What caught my eye was their flight of Scotch 4 1/2 oz pours for only $14.  WINNING!!!! The Beer: Bunches honey granola cream Ale 5.5% ABV... smooth and crushable! Belgian Dubbel w/ cherry plum & raisins 7.1% ABV... I wasn't expecting the high amount of acidity for this Belgian dubbel. It was a burst of flavor which punched me right in the taste buds.  In a good way. Coattails Double IPA 7.9% ABV...  well balanced IPA, a little citrus, a little hops, slightly sweet and nothing overwhelming. FIRE! French Toast Nightman barrel aged Imperial Stout 10% ABV... dark chocolate and coconut is all I got.  It was semi sweet and tasted a little of extract. Aged 14 months, respectfully throw that back in the barrel and pull it out in a few years. Or bottle it and forget about it for a long while. Dark Passenger cherry vanilla Porter 7.6%  ABV... this one kicked before I could try it.  Maybe next time. The service was fantastic.  The beer was great.  And, I felt totally comfortable in this atmosphere.  Like that t-shirt that is super comfortable, but you can't throw away because it is so very comfortable.  Or your favorite reclining chair.  Suffice to say, I wish I could pack Homaide Brewing in my carry on and take is with me on my flight back to to Florida.
