We felt completely singled out at The Hidden Door this morning. During the short time we were there, we saw multiple people using the restroom at the same time without anyone saying a word. However, when my friend had an urgent feminine-hygiene situation and needed my help, an employee suddenly made a loud, dramatic announcement to the entire bar that having more than one person in the restroom would result in immediate removal. We came out immediately and chose to leave on our own. We weren't being disruptive, disrespectful, or doing anything inappropriate--we were handling a private situation and minding our business. To be clear, we weren't embarrassed; we were embarrassed for them. The selective enforcement and unnecessary performance made it painfully obvious that we were being singled out. Then, as we were leaving, a clearly intoxicated patron started yelling, "He was talking about you," as if we had personally done something to him when we hadn't even interacted with him. We didn't care. Stay pressed. Apparently being young, attractive, and noticeable makes you a target here. If you don't fit in with their regular crowd, expect to be watched and treated differently. Horrible, unwelcoming experience. I absolutely do not recommend this place. read more

The manager with anger issues needs to be replaced. If you voice your opinion, he will take your drink out of your hand and tell you to leave. He has major anger issues and cannot handle constructive criticism. He is a bully and has absolutely no management/customer service skills whatsoever. Don't get me wrong. Our first stop for watering holes in the LGBTQ+ community here in Dallas and it's a cool non pretentious little bar with pool tables and an outdoor patio. Went during happy hour and Tito's cocktails were 7.50/ea (cash price) for a double, which is not a bad deal. Bar is small inside though, with only one table against the mirrors. Did not want to sit outside in the patio as it was smoky. Bartenders were very friendly. Parking lot is small so you have to hunt for street parking. Otherwise, a great watering hole. read more

It's a wonderful bar. It has a nice indoor area, but the outdoor area is large and usually decorated if there is a holiday. Drinks are good and very-reasonably priced. Service is good, but you must get your drinks from the bar. A fun place to go! read more

Forever wishing you could give a place zero stars on yelp. Came in with a group of friends and was turned away because I had a SERVICE DOG. Even on their patio they let us know that we couldn't be there because of the dog... he's a golden retriever, not a possible restricted breed that could have been turned away; regardless, they didn't even ask the limited questions: is he required because of a disability, or what task has the dog been trained to preform... just turned us away. I suggest this establishment and employees read the ADA when it comes to service dogs. There is no paperwork for service dogs. I was just told to leave because I have my service dog there. She is a psychiatric service dogs for service members that have PTSD and I was just asked to leave because this place doesn't allow dogs. And then the bartender wanted to argue with me when he asked me to produce paperwork and I tried to explain to him there is no paperwork to produce! I suggest you educate every employee before you get sued! Always reliable, friendly, plenty of fresh air inside/cold AC, attentive bartenders and cold beer/stiff drinks. Free safe parking on site (a big plus). The Hidden Door is an interesting spot. One thing that is particularly cool about it is that they are a non-profit and return most proceeds to great local causes in the LGBTQ community. Located off the beaten path, Hidden is the right word for this place. You really have to know what you're looking for. Nice thing is that the establishment is reasonably big and their outdoor spaces are even bigger, so there's always room for everyone. Don't come in here wanting to sip a light drink, though. They have some of the most generous pours in town and even their Jell-O shots pack a serious punch. The staff is always cool, but are definitely one of the more strict bar teams in Dallas and hold to their rules carefully. Not that that's a bad thing. The Hidden Door is cash only, so keep that in mind, although they have an ATM right there, so it's not much of an issue. Seems that this place is a true Dallas staple and I can see why. read more

We went to have a few drinks last night to celebrate a friends birthday and when we get there the entire Bar has the Debate on ! So we put on some songs and some Men came up to me and was mad because we put music on ! He said the entire bar was watching it so I told him this is a bar you come to drink & hear music if he wanted to watch TV he should have stay HOME with his old self !!!! He then got angry & started causing bad language so when I went to get the security guard for help the Bartender told him to kick me out !! Just a great neighborhood bar, it's a busy place, you can actually hold a conversation there. There is an eclectic assortment of areas to talk, a hugh outdoor area, and variety of different types of people. I've seen food trucks, and Hugh parties there...they really are customer focused. Came here last night with a friend (two women, friend is part of LGBT community) to try it out! As we were parking we noticed there were no women coming out of the building so that raised a bit of suspicion, but nothing a quick question couldn't fix (or so we thought). My friend stopped right before we got to the door to decide if she wanted to continue inside because not only were there no women, we realized we didn't listen to the music being played either so we stood in front of the security discussing when I turned to ask the guy at the door what the vice was like inside. He IMMEDIATELY got defensive and started raising him voice to accuse us of being underage and "discussing underage things in front of the security". Mind you, the security hadn't even said a WORD to us and we were sitting in front of his car window. So I begin to tell him we're definitely OF AGE (she's 22 i'm 21) and that we were trying to figure out the vibe of the club where he proceeded to shrug and say "it's just a bunch of old white homos". While that's happening, my friend is asking to go back to the car and this guy (obviously either drunk or high) begins following us out towards the car repeatedly saying "not all of us are homos", but luckily this guy coming out to smoke defended us and pushed him out of our way. Moral of the story, I do not think this is a safe space for women. The personnel was rude AF, and the security didn't even intervene the creepy guy following after us. S/O to the smoker dude, he was cool! read more

Got kicked out for saying I was drunk told him when I wasn't that drunk. So was told to have a good day. Was told that the police the cops would be called to take me out. I am in my right mind and not too drunk. I feel disrespected. Will never be at this bar again. I understand that for safety bartenders are supposed to kick out customers are supposed to make sure that they aren't too drunk to buy and be possibly kicked out, but I am not that drunk. I am sober enough to know where I am at the time and the date also the place I am at the place Im at, I was not too drunk to understand the psych eval that was not performed by the bartender that has enough training to understand how drunk. I went in to get the bartenders name but went the bartender went out to get the security guard who by the name is Officer Brooks., The bartender failed to care to give his name for unknown reason. For this reason, I feel that this business cares less about their customers and more about who serves their drinks. Regardless of their own safety they can give at least a first name. This speaks on their customer service ethics. I do not appreciate being treated like not a person when I can self-evaluate myself and was not being evacuated by the bartender. Therefore, being treated as an animal that needs to be put outside. read more
