Lo mejor de lo mejor ! The best tortas in town ceres…read more 100 recommend them Tha chilaquiles torta is delicious

This place gets huge ratings and I've always wanted to try it, but I was never in town. However,…read morethat changed today when I gave my brother a ride to pick up his truck from the shop in Ceres. My son, brother, and I made the trek. Located inside a Chevron gas station, it is rather concealed if you don't know the location. We were greeted by the owner and, as first timers, asked him for the rundown. He said he is known for his tortas and recommended the Torta Cubana. That is what both my brother and I ordered (with egg added). My son custom made a breakfast burrito (which the owner said was also a popular choice, served all day). We each got Horchata drinks, which are handmade using the owner's mom's recipe. The dining room has lots of clean tables, so we sat and waited with eager anticipation. Our food came promptly and included two large squeeze jars of homemade salsa (green and red) to add as topping. The high ratings are well deserved. The Cubana torta was awesome, a great combination of meats. My son barely finished his breakfast burrito and he said it was one of the best he's had. Horchatas were awesome and the salsas were excellent. The owner was super helpful and extremely friendly. You can tell he takes pride in his food and wants the customer to enjoy their experience. Now that we know how good this place is, we won't be afraid to make the drive from out of town to visit again!

We picked up food from a fast food location for our daughter (very limited menu for her) and hoped that Salt and Pepper would be ok with us bringing it in. Thankfully they were very accommodating! It was a quiet time and other than someone picking up a to-go order it was just us in the restaurant. We ordered the birria pizza and a side of chips and salsa. Portion size of the "pizza" was huge so we were only able to eat a little bit but took the rest home. The "pizza"/quasi-quesadilla was filled with juicy meat and had all the fixins on top. Overall y it was very tasty. The chips and salsa were good too.

Located in the same parking lot as Costco in Turlock, Salt and Pepper serves amazing Mexican food. I really wished we walked into these doors earlier in life! This is one of the only taquerias I've found that does chilaquiles... and chilaquiles burritos! The inside is quite small, with two tables and two drink fridges in the forefront. The register is actually located further in if you follow the left wall. We ordered: Meat lovers burrito - we opted for birria, al pastor, and chicken as our three proteins. The SO loved that it only took half a burrito to fill him up (usually he will demolish it in one go), so the proportion to the value is reasonable. Chilaquiles burrito - I got this with al pastor and it was so good! There is also an egg prepared in your choice that is thrown in there. I loved that all burritos came with a grilled cheese exterior, adding extra crunch. Chile relleno a la carte - we got this with the salsa verde on the side, and I think that is the move here. They provide you with a pretty big bowl of the salsa and I was able to use this on my burrito as well. Service was really great. Waters were filled and patient when we didn't know to order. I found that we were accidentally charged for the chile relleno meal vs a la carte, and the cashier was able to refund me a few bucks in cash (even though there is a clear sign for patrons to check their order before paying - whoops!). I have been craving returning to Salt and Pepper to try their birria pizza. Will definitely make this a staple after-Costco meal for the future!

Chips and dips were given upon being seated, drink orders taken, and were received fairly quickly. The chips themselves were delicious & so were the bean dips and salsa. For my entree, I ordered probably the most bland-sounding thing I have ever ordered. I ordered Dos Huevo's w/ Carne Asada. My plate was great! Carne asada cooked & flavored well & the eggs were also perfect. The rice it came with was decent, nothing crazy. I will say, oddly enough, on that warm day, I got a hot coffee to drink. The coffee was really good! I pretty much inhaled it, twice! Overall the place is nice, attentive, and good food!

We ordered a michelada and a Cadillac margarita--both were bad. The michelada tasted watered down, and the Cadillac was just plain nasty. My fiancé ordered the chile verde and asked me to try it. I literally had to spit it out into a napkin. The flavor was that bad. We came with three other friends, and all of us agreed we would never return. For a Mexican restaurant, especially a chain, you'd expect flavorful, well-made food--but that was not the case at all. Very disappointed with this location in Turlock. Zero out of 10. Would not recommend.
