This course is representative of its (I assume) owner…read more I played 9 holes here a few weeks ago, and while it was bad, it wasn't this bad. That time, I had a pleasant interaction with the yellow-toothed man that I assume owns this landfill. So when a friend came into town from three hours away, I decided to book us a tee time here last Sunday. Now, onto the reason I will never be back. We had a 7:40 AM tee time for a twosome--the earliest available that day. When we arrived, I could tell the owner was already in a bad mood. He told us it was cart path only and apologized for the course conditions, stating verbatim: "The dandelions are bad because of the hot and dry summer we had last season. I know this because I'm a licensed greenskeeper." (Whatever that means.) At this point, I thought maybe the weeds were just bad in the rough and it wouldn't be too awful on the fairways. Well, I was wrong. As you can see in the video below, it looked like a cotton field as far as the eye could see. I lost an entire box of balls that day. The owner gave us a generous discount of $5 each--so $85 total for two players to hack through this warzone. But that's not even the worst part. There was a group of seniors ahead of us on the front 9 that seemed to grow in size every hole. It started as a foursome, and by the 9th hole, I counted seven of them. Still, not a big deal--it was Sunday and I had no other plans than golf. What really got me was at the turn. We pulled up to the clubhouse at 9:38 AM--on time--and the owner was chatting with the group of seniors. He turned to us and said: "Hey guys, these are my members. They're gonna go ahead and let you play through." "Awesome," I thought. I replied, "Thanks--we just need to use the restroom really quick, and we'll be back out." We went in, used the restroom, and then walked up to the bar to grab a hot dog and a soda. That's when the owner approached and said: "I thought you guys were going to the restroom only. What do you want?" I said, "We decided to grab a soda and a snack before heading back out. Is there a problem?" He responded: "Well, you just said you were going to the restroom and didn't mention anything about a snack. My members are waiting out there--and they've had the first tee time every Sunday for the last 10 years." Let me be clear, sir: You run a crappy public golf course. I just paid $85 to play here, and you're complaining about pulling two sodas from a fridge and throwing a cold hot dog on a bun? Get a grip. To top it off, we played Hickory Woods the day before--a course located less than a mile from Eagle's Nest--and it was in perfect shape. I guess your great-value "greenskeeper license" didn't do you much good. I will never play this course again. And if you're smart and like to spend your money wisely, I suggest you don't either.

My boyfriend and I entered the clubhouse together, but the man at the desk only addressed my…read moreboyfriend, only looked at him, and only talked to him. I walked away. There's simply no excuse for this. Also, the course was COVERED in seeding dandelions. We lost three neon balls in the FAIRWAY. We did get a discount but still, at around $70 it was not worth it. I will never go back.

After all my lessons, I can say this is the best investment in ANY of the money I've spent on golf…read more Dropped a bunch of strokes from my game (was high 90s, now hovering around 90 and threatening high 80s!!) , not losing anywhere near the number of golf balls due to errant shots. Makes going out and playing a round so much more enjoyable. Highly recommend GOLFTEC and Mike Deiters to really improve your game!!

I have completed 12 or so lessons and here are my experiences and I think what you can expect - and…read morewhat I would maybe do differently 1) I do well with the instant video feedback, more often then not I don't realize how jacked up certain parts of my swing are but when you can see it in front of you it makes a huge difference - I feel like Chris my coach was able to pick up a key or two in my swing to fix every time 2) The overall package prices are steep - no doubt about it, I picked up golf later in life after I finished residency/fellowship but certainly I wouldn't have been able to afford it prior to that. I didn't ask/enquire about financing or other payment options but I'd imagine that maybe is an option for some. However, if you factor in what I paid per lesson plus the 'free' 90 minutes of bay time a week it actually isn't a bad deal. 3) for me I took advantage of several of the fittings as well (driver, hybrid, woods) also they do have demo clubs of all the latest models so before I did my fittings I tried all the latest ping, taylormade, callaway, mizuno, titleist clubs during my practice sessions. 4) I would say you should have a good idea of what you actually want to work on - my mistake was working on irons every lesson for my first 7/8 lessons, I wish I would have sprinkled in a driver lesson earlier as I'm only really working on it now. 5) My kids are a little young to be golfing but I do see families come in where a teen is getting a lesson while their (presumably) parent is in the bay next door getting practice in which is also pretty cool - not sure how many places you could do that. There is some downtime typically when you are waiting for a bay if you get there early but the putting green in the main area is great so I generally just mess around there. My pro (chris) is great and certainly a lot of fun to work with would recommend him to anyone visiting.

I attended a wedding here last Saturday, and it was a very nice venue…read more My fiance was in the wedding party, so we got to check it out Friday, for rehearsal, as well as Saturday, for the wedding. I was shocked when the bride told me they let her set everything up on Thursday (no Fri. wedding there that week) - for our venue, we only get to start setting up about 2.5 hours before, on the day of! Food was very good but apparently was catered (not from the venue), I heard. The venue itself was very charming, as others have said on here, and looks like it would be a nice place to play golf - they have a restaurant too, and locker rooms (my fiance said the groomsmen got to get ready/hang out in the locker rooms before the ceremony). Their ceremony was going to be outdoors, overlooking a waterfall/water feature, but unfortunately it rained that AM and they held it indoors instead - the reception room/ballroom is large enough that this was no problem, and I guesstimate that they had about 80-90 guests, including the wedding party. It was rather windy out that day too so I was glad it was indoors. Overall, a very nice spot to hold a wedding.

Every transition was smooth and she made it so that I didn't have to worry about anything on my big day. I would definitely recommend Bel-Wood for anyone looking for a beautiful location for their wedding, and an incredible wedding coordinator!
