I know this course is highly touted but I found the tees to torn up. The greens had many ballmarks on the, with no evidence that many people respect the game enough to repair ballmarks. I play on a public course that I feel like is in better shape than Stonelick. The greens fee is pretty steep relative to the conditions. read more

This course is so great! In immaculate condition and the price is very reasonable! It's beautiful. The course is challenging but very fun! The staff are all so helpful and friendly. Stonelick Hills Golf Course - Coming in on 18. - Golf Near Me - Batavia, Ohio

OK I just moved here 6 weeks ago from San Diego. THIS is the nicest non-private course within 50 miles IMO. This is the 4th course I have played so far and it lived up to it's expectations. Tee boxes were immaculate. Fairways were well manicured and the rough bites you if/when you stray. Greens were in GREAT condition and so were the bunkers. Really great mix of holes. Played here on a Saturday afternoon after 3pm. $86 twilight rate including unlimited range balls. I was single and I played with another single from Florida. We both agreed that any course this nice in FL or CA would be 2-3x more to play! I played horrible and shot 100 when I am normally in the low 90's. The water is hard to miss on many of the holes. Bring your A game and some extra balls. Snack shack had really nice efficient young ladies working there. Overall I give it a 9+ and the highest I have given the other 3 courses is a 9. Just a great experience A-Z. I will be back to break 100 (hopefully) here soon! Better than 95% of the courses I have played in CA (and I have played at least 30) for 2-3x less $$. It's a win-win. Pace of play could have been better is my ONLY whine...but it WAS Sat afternoon. :) (P.S. Look up the Stonelick Covered bridge....check THAT cool historic bridge out and then continue the back way SLOWLY. It's a beautiful back roads adventure. Outstanding Golf Course. Beautiful Club House. The staff is friendly and professional. Food is above average for a golf course. Difficult and challenging course in Batavia. Course is very well maintained and greens are fast. Imperative that you stay "in the short grass" on the front 9. Back 9 is a little more forgiving. The only down side to the course is that it is one of the more expensive courses to play around Cincinnati. But if you want to splurge on a nice course, this is a good choice. read more

So glad this popped up in my searches for the best golf courses in the Cincinnati area. It does not disappoint. The course is in great condition and absolutely beautiful. Get there early to hit some practice balls. You'll need it. Not incredibly hard although there's quite a bit of water. At $78 it's worth it because of the niceness. One reviewer commented on staying in the short grass, that is so true.Their rough is rough! It'd be a great course to really know. The beer cart girl could come around more (and take a debit card) though. It's nice they have coolers though. I'll definitely be back. read more

Good course, and decently well maintained but the pace of play was HORRIBLY slow!! We were waiting on almost every tee box and played nearly a 5.5 hour round, because the course wouldn't pair up singles and pairs of golfers. Overall, a decent experience, but there's better (faster) courses for the money, especially considering the hefty price tag. read more

Played on 8/15/2020 for the first time. The course layout is fun and challenging. Most greens were in good shape. They need to remind golfers to fix their ball marks on the greens. Tee boxes on a number of holes were in pretty bad shape. For $89 I was expecting more. Carts were in rough shape and did not have the technology (i.e. GPS) that courses with a lower rate and comparable layout have. The staff was very friendly and pace of play was good. I would play the course again but during the week at the lower rate which is more in line. read more

Played there on 9/10. Greens are in horrible condition (Puttable - but just barely).. Barren spots on the greens witn no grass. Fairways were soaked so not sure on how well the course drains. In fairness we had received about 1.5" of rain 2 days earlier. Layout of the course is really good (Funky hole or two) but with the green condition being that disapointing - how they charge $75/round is beyond me. read more

Attended a wedding here and it seemed like they were not accommodating to the wedding at all. It was a beautiful setting but you could see there were golfers that were still playing late into the day. The management also hovered around the event the whole night - but not out of the way - they hung out around the bar, which made it seem awkward for the people attending the wedding. They also wouldn't allow chinese lanterns to be lit initially which upset the bride because it was for their send off - but after the bride and groom left they brought them back out and allowed it. read more

Arguably best public course in the area. A true hidden gem. Holes are a fair test making you hit various shots. Fairways and greens are in great condition. Lots of tee boxes for different skill levels. And a great clubhouse. A truly great day of golf. read more

Great course that's in excellent shape. Would be 4+ star if not for the ranger up our ass all day. We are no tour pros but 4 of us finished 18 in 4.5 hours and stopped at club house for lunch. 2 some in front of us so of course there was a gap between us jerk. The course conditions in 2013 were as good as it can get. They have really made significant progress especially with the greens. The practice facility is the best in town, the staff works hard to keep things running on time, and the food is fantastic, especially the burger. We had a terrible experience at Stonelick Hills. The person working in the pro shop was rude and disrespectful. Our tee time was given away to two other golfers. We're were told to wait another 45 minutes. When I made the tee time my wife and asked if we would be permitted to play by ourselves and was told yes. I have never been treated as disrespectfully in my life. It was $59 dollars a round and the course looked like crap. I will never go back and I will make sure to tell everyone how terrible an experience we had. And I am going to post wherever I can so everyone know to stop playing Stonelick Hills. Stonelick Hills is not only a wonderful golf course located just outside Milford in Batavia, OH...it is a fantastic wedding venue. It isn't the ballroom/chandelier scene, so typical in the Cincy area. Instead, you get laid-back beauty in a contemporary stone/exposed timber clubhouse with a wonderful view with good service to rival any staid wedding venue choice. The attention to detail, flexibility and accommodating personnel are top-notch. The entire staff is friendly, professional and delightful. Their manager stays at the wedding/reception to assure all goes well, which is a service level difficult to find at many venues. We were incredibly pleased with Stonelick as a wedding venue...AND we love to play golf there. read more

I have played fine public and private courses around the US. Stonelick Hills rates up there with the best of them. It's challenging but fair. It was in outstanding condition. The greens were fast and true. Cincinnati has great courses. This is the best. read more

I played here last Sunday and I have been playing here for the past 9 years. I feel that this is the best public golf course around. Everytime I go there, with or without a tee time, they make me feel like I am at home and are very accomodating to get me out on the course. Every once in awhile I bring a buddy of mine out golfing who had an allergic reaction to an immunization he received as a baby which has left him using 2 canes with cuffs. It is truly amazing to see my friend golf with 1 hand on the club leaning on a cuffed cane....very inspiring! The GM, Mike Sowards, came out one day while we were playing (on a soggy course due to rain and cart path only) and brought out a handicap flag to allow us to drive off the path just so our friend could play. He did not need to do that as the course was soaked and we could have done some real damage if we went in the wrong places! Mike hung around for a few holes just to watch and hang out and later he told me how inspiring it was to be a part of our 4some and see someone enjoy golf so much when he had to struggle to even do some of the basic things like walking. Any damage done to the course was worth it he said even if only one person was inspired by our friend's play. The course is always beautiful, in great condition and I would put it up there with some of the nicer private country clubs in this area. I am proud to say that Stonelick Hills is my home course and I am even thinking of having my wedding there next year....can't wait!! read more

This may be a great place for golf, but don't EVER spend your money getting married here. It was beautiful but the manager is incompetent, combative, and rude. My best friend got married here and he said no to absolutely every thing she brought up. She was having BBQ and he was all up in arms because he didn't want it to "Ruin his linens". When we showed up to set up for the reception, all the linens were stained and looked awful. We showed up the night before when he told us to be there and while setting up he and the bartender basically glared at us for an hour and a half. We were not allowed to show up until after ALL the golfers were done and gone, and yet we couldn't have some time to set up the area? The manager kept saying "Golf First" and he was not kidding. During the ceremony, a ball splashed into the water about 3 feet behind me. We weren't allowed to be there until 3 the day of the wedding and assumed the golfers would be finished by the time the ceremony started around 6:30. I understand this is a golf course but if you don't want to accommodate someone who is spending thousands of dollars just to rent out the space, don't even offer to have events. Mike, the manager, was awful. The bridesmaids and the bride did a photo which featured all of us having a drink at the bar. This was at about 3:30-4pm. Mike said he "knew there would be trouble when the bridal party started drinking at 3:30" (though he is now saying that we started drinking at 2:15 when we didn't even show up at the golf course until around 3:15). This was the only drink we had until the reception. When we asked for the beers for the photo, the bartender opened the bar (without asking the bride, groom, or anyone), thus charging an extra couple THOUSAND dollars for the bar. Golfers (not guests at all) were eating mints and cookies that had been set out for wedding guests and were drinking beer allocated to guests of the wedding (the bride had kegs brought in...the type of beer wasn't even offered at Stonelick). All in all, a HORRIBLE experience. My best friend, the bride, left in tears. There has been no resolution whatsoever and I wish I could say what I have written here was all that happened in the 7 hours we were there. I am appalled by the total lack of customer service. The manager said he hated doing weddings and hopefully they will stop offering to have them soon. Don't waste your money on this place unless you want to play golf. And I wouldn't even recommend playing golf here if you have to deal with the manger, Mike, who was incredibly incompetent. Stay far, far away. read more
