This course was so fun! First, the staff is so nice, our reservation had gotten lost and they worked us in to get us out on the course which is so nice as I am from out of town visiting family and would have been disappointed to not be able to play. The course was nice and the holes are interesting and not to challenging from the forward tees! The only thing I would say is they could mark the holes better we got lost on the course a couple of times as there are two courses that seem to criss-cross! And ran into other lost golfers... so we're relieved it 'wasn't just us'! I rented ladies clubs and they were a little 'sad' could use an update- but aside from that the customer service was so good and people were so nice, and course was so great, it made up for anything else, Overall a great day in this fun local course! read more

Thank you Mariam for the awesome lessons!! I have been too shy to go and take lessons and admit how bad I am LOL. The hubby and I have been going here for quick evening dates and lessons. We have had a blast especially with our training Ms. Mariam. She is very patient and direct on her coaching. You get great tips and knowledge from her. Now, beware that you can see King's Island from where you practice so if your like me you may get a little distracted and start day dreaming of riding the rides. Ok, that is just me. So back to golf. I've got some practicing to do but I feel confident to go out on the course and play a few holes. read more

The Grizzly Golf Course - Golf lesson. Date day! - Golf Near Me - Mason, Ohio

Overall a fun course to play, a nice mix of holes. Unfortunately some of the staff is not the friendliest. While checking in they gave us no information whatsoever, where to get carts or where the 10th hole was - as they started us on the back nine. We asked another staff member for directions and got sent the wrong way (not a lot of signage here). As a result we got to the tee-box 2-3 min late, the people whom we were partnered with were still in the fairway - when we got to the tee-box we were met by an extremely rude and disgruntled starter, being a new golfer this was extremely discouraging and disappointing. A little extra help with directions and some courteousness would go a long way when people are choosing where to spend their money. read more

I grew up here... Back in the day it was the Grizzly and the Bruin. It's been years since I've played here and I finally made it back! The staff was so kind and attentive. I really had no issues making a tee time, checking in, or buying apparel. Can I just say, I'm a sucker for PUMA!? Always great to see places carry the brand and I make note of those that do. Course conditions are good. Some patches on the fairways aren't the best, but it's an absolutely playable course. Great for all experience levels. If I had any advice to give here, it would be to tell the cart barn starter guy to calm down. He added a level of unnecessary anxiety about the cart numbers and stalked us to our cars to get them. I have lived in the area for a long time, but have never played this course. Because so many courses are currently closed, we decided to play here. I am glad I played it once, but I will never play it again. For one thing, it cost $37.50 to walk! That's expensive compared to the Hamilton County courses, the City of Cincinnati courses and even Blue Ash which is a much nicer course. This is absolutely NOT a walking course. There are huge distances between greens and tees. I walked 8.9 miles today when normally, a round of golf would be between 5 and 6 miles. That's crazy. There are houses and OB everywhere. I don't think I've played a course with that much OB that close to the course. Your accuracy needs to be on or you will have a long day. The course itself is mixed. The West nine is flat, uninspired and frankly somewhat boring except for the 9th hole which is a gem. The North nine was much more interesting and enjoyable. The fairways and greens were in good condition and the speed of the greens was pretty consistent. The rough, however, was ridiculous! It was at US Open-like length and thickness. We had numerous balls end up in the rough and we could not see them unless we stood directly over them and looked straight down. It slows down play looking for balls and it's really hard for amateurs to play successfully from excessively penal rough like that. So, all things considered, I do not think it's worth the money and I won't be back. read more

Played here 4 weeks in a row for 9 holes after work. Course in decent condition. It has multiple tees. Plenty of fairway and greenside traps. Different variety of layouts. Greens are inconsistent in terms of speed. Nice employees. Gas carts. Big practice green. Driving range. Longer rough. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!! We had a very bad experience there, the head pro Andy was a jerk. Apparently he can check your bags and coolers, he was also making racial slurs to us (4 black men). This type of behavior is unacceptable. Do not go here!! read more

The golf center itself is gorgeous and has so much to offer. The staff has been wonderful and sweet. The reason I am leaving a poor review is because my wedding reception was booked here for 2020. The venue has a lot to offer, however the private event coordinator Becky was not pleasant to deal with and I will not be rebooking any time soon. Not only was she rude, but she did not communicate any Covid restrictions to me regarding my event. Any time I needed information I was the one to reach out to her, only to get a short response which I took in a rude and annoyed tone. I have felt since I decided to book the venue that I was more of a burden than an appreciated business from her. She works limited hours to tour the venue (you have to see it during the weekday during standard work hours or she will not be there) and she does not work weekends. I had to have the manager, Alan who was very sweet, give me a tour. She is difficult to work with and has in the contract that a high % of reception sales goes into her pocket as the event coordinator, which in my opinion has not been earned. I hate to leave a poor review because of one person to hinder a once in a lifetime (Covid or not) experience for me, with a venue that is so well deserving of a much better review. read more

Oh golf...the great equilizer. The thing that pisses me off more than nearly anything else in the world. Oh, how I love you. But, I love the Golf Center at Kings Island. Mostly because of "The Bruin" it's the little golf course. The cheaper golf course. The easier golf course. I love easier golf courses. I've never played "The Grizzly" but I'm sure it would bring me to my knees and charge me a lot to do it. But, I'll play it one day. It's just a nice thing to spend a day playing some golf...getting pissed off with your friends, and wrapping a club around a tree because you threw it in anger. read more

If you are looking for a good round of golf without having to drive too far outside of Hamilton County then The Golf Center at Kings Island may be your place. The Golf Center is in Mason right next to the Lindner Family Tennis Center, and the main course was originally designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus. The Grizzly (18-hole championship course) and the Bruin (18-hole shorter course), as well as the CourseView Restaurant and a great pro shop make up the Golf Center. I'm not much of a golfer, but one of my three times playing nine holes was at the Bruin. It's a nice course and good for beginners or for anyone looking to work on their short game, but the Grizzly is the real course in Mason. The Grizzly is nice and has some tough holes, although my father says it isn't the very best or the toughest around. Nevertheless, it is a good course and it recently was the home of the women's qualifying tour tournament, the second annual Duramed Championship. Just a few years ago the Grizzly was the site of the Kroger Senior Classic too, while it also hosted an LPGA and possibly even a PGA event many years ago. The Golf Center offers yearly memberships which include unlimited golf, preferred tee times, bag storage, cleaning, and service, some greens fees discounts for friends, and 20-percent off pro shop clothing, golf balls, and "novelty items." Prices are $1795 per individual and $2295 for families, each down $200. The Golf Center also has a great teaching professional staff--well, that's an assumption--and offers 40 minute lessons. While I don't have much to compare it to, I do know that The Golf Center at Kings Island is good place to play. With a great pro shop, a nice little restaurant, and two golf courses to play on, this somewhat old, yet always in good condition golf center is a fun place to play nine or 18. read more

What a shame. I used to play this course regularly 15-20 years ago and it is not the same. The place is built up and where there was once nice fairways there are now houses. They took out 9 of the 27 holes and just have 18 remaining. The place has gone downhill since. Let me start by saying the carts are old and worn. No towels provided, no coolers for cold drinks. We teed off on 1 North and were hounded by some old guy who said we were playing slow. I looked at my watch and realized we were 10 minutes ahead of PGA standards. Found out later its because they send people around on both the front and back-so you have to hustle to "fit in" when you make the turn. Once we made the turn, we waited on every hole and never saw old man ranger again. Good luck trying to plug your tee in the tee box. They are hard as a rock and are not cut for proper fairway alignment. The water features are falling apart-leaking water and eroding at the banks. It's obvious they haven't spent a dime on the place in years. Greens are crappy, fairways not manicured, and nobody fixes a divot. Cart paths need to be resurfaced. Some traps have 5 rakes to them, other traps you can't find a rake. The cart girl came by one time, we asked her to stop back, and never saw her again. This course used to set the standard for public courses in Cincinnati. Not anymore. I would save the money and go somewhere else. They haven't put any money back into the course or facilities in years and it shows. I won't be going back and if I want to play a public course again I'll play Stonelick Hills. read more

Got a good price on Golf Now and played the North and West course. Do not walk this course, a lot of distance between holes. Got talked into playing the tips with my buddy as its a shorter course. Good for the average golfer but lots of hazards and if you're not hitting it consistent you could have a long day in the trees and the rough. Rough was too long and hard to find your ball, too much time was wasted looking for a ball a couple feet off the fairway. Fairways had some slope and the greens were really soft which had a lot of divots. But there's also lots of geese you can try and catch for bonus points...we failed. If we're ever in Cincinnati again we're going to try somewhere else. read more

Played golf at the Grissly 2 out of the last 4 days and except for getting a bit confused on where to go, my issue of course, the course was beautiful and well maintained. Amazing what a lot of water can do. Crew from club house to cart barn to those bringing around water were great. Boy time flys. How can I be so close to a course yet think I live so far:). And now I'm under senior rates wow! I was so excited to save my few dollars I payed for my friend. So I actually spent more than less. Ok so I'm still doing the math. Regardless, it was a really a great time and will be back. By the way a good course only helps the view not the handicap as I found out. read more

I played The Grizzly Course, part of The Golf Center at King's Island in Mason Ohio, just outside of Cincinnati. The course is nice, well laid out and very decent, and there is a well stocked pro shop as well. I did not try the restaurant, but the staff was very nice the time or two that I passed through going to the rest room and the pro shop. The golf staff were also polite, very helpful and professional. The only exception to being completely pleased with the Golf Center was a course marshall that told us on the 18th fairway that our round was taking 5 hours, and King's Island only allowed 4.5 hours per round. The marshall may have thought that he was just doing his job, but perhaps as a result of a shift change, he was completely unaware of a group ahead of us for the first 9 holes we played that held us up on about every hole. I would definately play the course again when in the area. One helpful hint - if you use one of the GPS range finders, note that the Grizzly is actually two 9 hole courses, and if your GPS doesn't seem to work on the first hole, move it to hole number 10 and you may find the hole that you're playing on the range finder. read more
