One of the nicest Hickory Taverns. Awesome bartender! Haley is the best. We love this place. Charted wings!!!

We moved to SW Charlotte in October of last year (about 5 months ago as of this review). Since then, Hickory Tavern quickly became our go to restaurant/tavern for a casual dinner and drink. The staff has been outstanding on every visit. In particular, the management has been engaging and attentive upon arrival and throughout our meals. The food has been above average to good regularly. I particularly like their Food Truck Chicken & Rice but have tried numerous items from the menu with mostly thumbs-up outcomes. I absolutely *love* the mini croissants that are served with the salads. I was disappointed by the Jacked Up Chicken but management made and right and removed it from our check to my pleasant surprise. We have also been here for music bingo and trivia nights. Both were a bonus entertainment for our meal. Overall, I would readily recommend this establishment for casual fare and atmosphere. read more

I was there for the music bingo night which starts at 7pm on Wednesdays. We only had cocktails which where pretty good. The waitress was friendly and kept coming back to make sure we were OK. Second time here for lunch. We sat at the bar. Great friendly service. We got the pretzel bites to start. Super yum. For drinks my husband got Miller lite. I tried the mimosa. And then switched to Coors light. I was not a fan of the mimosa. My husband got the turkey pesto sandwich. But they were out of turkey so substituted with chicken super good. But the pesto sauce was too much. It was looking a little messy. I had the 8 wings entree with bbq and honey bee sting. Great sauces the honey bee wasn't too hot at all. Let me start and say I usually love hickory tavern. Got our food in a reasonable amount of time. I started eating and found 3 long hairs wound up in my chips / burger. THIS IS DISGUSTING. The manager then continues to not care and say okay and took my food. Worst experience I have ever had. DO NOT EAT HERE THE SANITATION IS AWFUL FOR A REASON! Got a pickup order. I ordered the Diablo burger with fries. The burger was nice and big but the quality of the meat was not very good. It tasted like a McDonald's burger. The toppings were all good. (2/5/24) Ihad the opportunity to visit Hickory Tavern this evening with a colleague. It wasn't very crowded for a late Monday night. My colleague ordered a Freedom Burger and I had a Diablo Burger. I was looking forward to it actually being spicy, but it wasn't. The burger itself was juicy and cooked medium. It was accompanied by a small portion of sweet potato fries. The inside of the restaurant is basically a large bar. There are very high round table with metal bar stools. Despite the large interior there was surprisingly little noise. I was able to focus on my conversation and not be distracted by the conversations at other tables. Hopefully I'll come back and sample some of the other items on the menu. read more

Went in there this afternoon to pick up a to go order. Everyone was so kind. We were immediately greeted by two people ready to help, showed us where we could sit since we were early, every employee that passed us asked if anyone had helped us, and within minutes we had our order, which was bagged so thoughtfully so one item was not squished. We were sat quickly then no service for 15 minutes. I watched servers walk by numerous times and no one checked on us at all. Finally we watched two Servers discuss who was helping us then one finally came over. He was overwhelmed and took our drink orders. Another 10 minutes go by and we watch him bring drinks and take food order for a table that sat well after us. When he came back to our table, we asked to cancel our order and he stated, "we weren't his table anyway and don't worry about it." My name is William and my wife Rebekah came in for a work function. we sat at the surfboard with a large group. I had the pleasure of dining at Hickory Tavern and was blown away by the exceptional service provided by Jerika aka Jay. From the moment we sat down, Jay was warm, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. She really took the time to explain the menu and offer suggestions, and it was clear that they genuinely care about making the experience enjoyable. Our drinks were always topped off, our food arrived promptly, and Jay checked in just the right amount to ensure we had everything we needed. It's rare to experience this level of attentiveness, and it really made our meal special. If you're lucky enough to be seated in Miss Jerika's section, you're in for a treat! Can't wait to return! This is one of my good to spots for many reason. 1) there is almost never a long wait like most places in Birkdale 2) garauntee to have decent to delicious food and 3) I absolutely love the vibe. It's specious, clean, tons of TVs and they have chive TV which I always love. They offer a large menu so something for everyone. The service is great every time although there may be a little wait for food. For me I enjoy this bc I can enjoy a drink and good company before eating. They didn't get 5 stars for a couple reasons. They are out of oysters like 50% of the time and there building advertises oysters hugely on the outside. They also charged us 75 cents for ketchup twice now which is ridiculous when you order French fries and a burger!? But all in all I love their wings, build your own salads, dikta dog and drink selection so ima keep going back!! read more

The one in Huntersville is nice. Staff is tentative and food is Typical bar food. The place is big so accommodates a lot of people.

Thought I had reviewed this particular restaurant several years ago but apparently not. As I recall, last time I went I was not impressed. I had Hot Dogs and they were the worst hot dogs I have ever had. Not juicy and moist but way overcooked to where they were hard. Service as I recall was nothing to write home about. This time we were the guest of our realtor who invited us and several other clients and friends for drinks and appetizers. Nice touch on her part and she is a great realtor. My wife got there a few minutes before me but she saved me a seat. Service was somewhat improved and the steak flatbread was good but the Zucchini Fries were easily my favorite. The Nachos were bland and stale and less than tasty or appealing. Biggest complaint was dirty dishes. They brought out small appetizer plates which we passed down so that each could take a sample of the various appetizes. Of the 12 to 15 plates they brought to our table, the first 3 or 4 were clean but every one thereafter was dirty and not just slight dirty and each plate was progressively worse. Not appealing and put a damper on the dining there. We had originally planed of dining here after the Social but based on this experience last Monday, we chose to go elsewhere for dinner. read more

The staff was amazing from the time we were seated by the host to the waitress to the managers who checked in on us during our meal. The food was delicious and cooked according to our request. They were very accommodating when we ask for honey drizzle on our sweet potato fries and gave us drink refills before we were out. I was really impressed with this location and will definitely eat here again when in the area. P.S the restaurant and restrooms were VERY clean. read more

This place has so much potential but is such a disappointment. The ambiance is nice. They have a ton of tvs and play all the games. But the service is so bad Just went today. Empty bar and the bartender was too busy talking to her friends to be on top of the orders. She made a drink wrong... she made a great first drink and then my second was very different. I told her and she said she used the same jigger as the jalapeño marg (not clean) and then charged me for the drink I couldn't drink. The service here is awful. We came in and were seated fairly quick, but no one came to our table for about 30 mins just to order drinks. While ordering drinks the waitress did not even finish getting everyone's orders (there were 4 of us and only 1 ordered) before running off and not coming back. Finally another 30 minutes later a different waitress came over and took our food order. We waited about 45 minutes for our food, which would be fine if they were busy but they were not. The food was not great, but not the worst. Definitely not worth the long wait, and bad service. This takes the cake as the worst service I've ever received. read more

From the customer service, to the food, to the atmosphere we had a very pleasant experience!! We highly recommend the shrimp and grits! I hope we get the opportunity to stop by here again very soon.
