03/30/2026 I didn't feel up to cooking today. Yes, it was one of those days. My allergies are getting the best of me:) The hubby stated he was in the mood for Hickory Tavern, and that was all I needed to hear! We did an order pickup. I ordered the Asian Power Bowl w/Grilled Shrimp and the Nacho Deluxe(small). My Asian Power Bowl was absolutely delicious! It had a great selection of vegetables mixed with rice, eggs with an Asian sesame dressing and chili lime crema. It tasted wonderful, and they gave you a good serving of it. As for the nachos, I am sure they were good, but I was just too full to even try them:) I had them once before so I know they were a hit. My husband ordered the Asian Power Bowl w/Grilled Chicken. Pretty much of the same ingredients as mine but a different protein. He enjoyed his to the last drop! No crumbs left anywhere:) He also ordered the Street Corn that he raves on each time he opens his mouth! This is a local place. I did like that inside it had a lot of local references: quotes and paraphernalia. But I felt the food was just ok. I think I was expecting too much. The shrimp for me had too much sauce on them. Then the burger wasn't anything special, it really needed more seasoning. My wife and I had given up on Hickory Tavern. Poor service, so so food, long wait times for service, long wait times for food, we just gave up. Last Sunday, we were looking for brunch, but all our first choices were packed, we decided to give HT another try. As soon as we were seated, Janiyah came to our table. She took our drink orders and was back in minutes. My wife and I just looked at each other in shock at the quick service. After several trips to check on us, Janiyah took our order. I was there with 5 co-workers and 1 former co-worker celebrating a Baby Shower on 06.16.26. My meal was $17.59 plus I left a tip of $7.41 total $25.00. I still have my receipt in hand for proof. When I searched my credit card statement online, I was charged $25.00 for my meal plus an additional $36.23. That is robbery and not fair to patrons. Wanted to find somewhere to transfer an early dinner and watch some college football. I've been to this spot before but it had been a couple of years so I didn't know what to expect. Friendly and attentive servers, great drinks, varied menu and more than enough TV screens to catch all of the sports action taking place at the time. Ate there tonight with my family. We had a larger party and were seated immediately. The resturant was fairly empty as well but our server, Brianna, seemed annoyed to be serving us. We ordered food and drinks and planned to spend a decent amount of money there. Our drinks arrived after our appetizers, and afterwards were only refilled per request. Anything we asked for from our server it seemed like an issue and took a long time to get to the table. Finally, after everything was finished we were stacking plates and attempting to help our server clear the table. As I stacked a few plates to hand to her the server Brianna, peered over my left shoulder and gave me one of the most disgusting looks as if I just insulted her. Otherwise our food was good, any other server that came to the table was extremely nice and attentive and the managers were kind as well, it was just our server who was rude. I typically try to give servers the benefit of the doubt as maybe she had a rough night, but after the look she gave me and the way we were treated after every request I couldn't not say anything. read more

Started off with the Pow Pow shrimp .... The serving was very healthy today and heavy on the shrimp. The flavor was also on point also. I'm from out of town, I was hesitant in going from the low-ish rating on here but I'm here to tell you I wasn't disappointed. I sat at the bar, I ordered a simple miller lite, water and their summer special salmon salad. I don't usually get salmon but the salad was absolutely delicious. It is a summer special so not sure how long it will be around, but I think it should be a normal menu item. Another customer, whom ordered ribs that looked amazing, mentioned they love the salads there too. It looks like they have daily specials, I think burgers are half off on Monday's, but I personally wanted something lighter that evening. Food came out quick.
