    Happy Dad!

Jake's is great! The service was awesome and the happy dads are the best. The atmosphere on a gameday is awesome

Happy dad seltzers got us through the senior bar crawl and tasted absolutely amazing at Jake's

Jake's staff is the best, they even sell all flavors of Happy dads here and it tastes amazing!

Went to this bar for a Happy Dad "bar spend." Couldn't have been happier with how accommodating & helpful the staff was to my group! Love this place.

A fun little college bar. Drinks aren't great but they are cheap. A Columbia mainstay!

Excellent spot if you have a dog! Not so great if you're a vegetarian, but they have plenty of fried options like fried pickles and french fries for munching. Yappy hour was incredible, we mostly visited for the dog aspect. You can let your dog off the leash and let them socialize and run around. Be careful eating, because doggos might jump on the table and steal your food. Service was quick. I mostly stayed outside, but when I went inside to the bar, it kind of smelled like urine... maybe stay outside, if you can.

Visited Jake's mostly to get a Ripper's hot dog and thoroughly enjoyed my experience from start to finish. I was lucky enough to visit on a Thursday while Yappy Hour was happening. As a dog-lover it was a joy seeing all the happy pups running around the patio. I grabbed a drink at one of the outdoor bars and placed an order for food. I was visiting by myself and it was kinda hard to find a spot to sit where I didn't feel like I was taking up a whole table for a larger group but I found a small spot in the back. My food came out quickly and everything was hot. One hot dog was absolutely LOADED with pimento cheese. Two huge mounds. The pimento was great. I did have to scrape some off the dogs but it was still tasty on the fries. The other hot dog had chili, mustard and slaw. This was good too. My only complaint was that I'm pretty sure the slaw had raw red onion in it, which is definitely not my jam. The fries were crispy, well seasoned and served with a really good dipping sauce. All in all, a top dog experience and I'd definitely return. Bouncers outside reminded me to wear my mask when I wasn't eating or drinking which was totally fine but it was weird seeing some of the staff without masks.

Nice atmosphere. It's like a dog park with a bar. The staff was very friendly but when we went they had a very limited menu which is why I gave them a middling score. I will be back to give them another shot just because of the atmosphere.

Stoped by this location at around 9pm because it was the only restaurant that was dog friendly open at that time. They have an open patio outside for all of the dogs to play together. I loved that it was great area for the dogs to run around but that means the pee smell is everywhere. The dogs literally pee on everything! The food was really good though! The cooks close down at 10 pm but it was nice and hot. My chicken strips were moist and crunchy! Definitely will come again for a doggy play date or hanging out with friends.

The bar gets 5/5 stars for great drinks, prices, and service....but the new menu/food is terrible so that's why the rating went down to a 3. A new vendor bid on the kitchen at this bar and completely changed the menu. They offer Poboy's, deep fried hotdogs (which are a beef and pork blend)... And a few other random items. I ordered a few drinks because I came with a friend during happy hour... And the drinks were great as usual. However, for the food I decided to stay safe and order chicken tenders and pimento cheese fries... (For some reason, this new menu doesn't have wings even though it's served at a bar). The chicken tenders were terrible if you can imagine that... The batter was weird and the tenders were undercooked. The fries weren't crispy and they tasted similar to what I would assume cafeteria food would be like. And the cook's version of pimento cheese was just shredded cheese and a random sauce... It wasn't really pimento cheese. A huge disappointment, especially since the old menu was so great.

Jake's is an awesome bar with an extensive drink menu. Do note that there is very limited parking. I was fortunate enough to get there early enough to snag one of the two spots right in front. (Free after 6pm) We were carded at the front, and then greeted by the bar staff. The manager was incredibly interactive with the Yelpers and other patrons. We were provided with yummy hot dogs that's were on an interesting bun. One thing I ABSOLUTELY loved was their smoked wings. It's a dry rub that's sweet with a slight kick. You'll get about 6-8 wings for $12, so it's a bit expensive for me, but definitely worth it! I also tried their passion fruit cocktail, and it was soooo yummy! The ambiance is very comfortable considering it's a bar. I can imagine it being a hot spot for college kids and hipsters . They have two pool tables and some high top tables. Very cool spot ! The staff were pretty cool and interactive as well. I would definitely consider coming back.

Would have loved to rate this local place higher but facts are facts. Been here a hundred times in the ole days for beers and twice recently for food. The BBQ is fantastic from Yellow Dog and really the only reason I came here to eat brunch. One out three people that work here seem to acknowledge you or even say hello upon arrival or during service. Biscuits have either fallen apart or taste undercooked and doughy. This will be the last time I come for food as they had no silverware for me when my dish arrived. So I had to wait whilst food began to get cold. Only reason they get 3 stars is because the deck area is awesome and the meats are great even though there served on mediocre biscuits. Like I said this local place should get a lot of stars but falls well short of customer service and BBQ can't stand alone.

Nice variety of drinks and beers, good food, great atmosphere, usually with live music. Most pleasant bar of the five points area by far.

My friends and I went during the NCAA Basketball Tournament, hoping to be able to watch all of the games at once. However, rather than having any of the basketball games on, they literally had a replay of an NFL game, a volleyball game, a TV that had timed out, and some kind of documentary on the other TV. When we asked our server if they could put the games on, we were told that they were unable to change the channels on the TV, as it was some kind of streaming service. Furthermore, we placed an order for drinks, and after sitting there for about fifteen minutes (15) minutes, got up and left after not seeing our waitress after that. If I were simply judging by this experience, I would have given The Yard negative stars if possible. However, my friends and I returned to The Yard to watch the NCAA Women's Basketball National Championship, and had a much better experience. It seemed that they were able to get the TV situation worked out, and we were actually able to get drinks this time. I know that this is the bare minimum for a sports bar, but they did show marked improvement from the first time that we went there. Our server, the bartender, and the hostess were all very nice, and I really liked the interesting sports regalia that was hanging on the walls. Overall, I'm going to give The Yard a generous three (3) stars, mainly considering the context in which my experiences took place. I hope that my first visit was simply a matter of needing to work the kinks out, and that future visits will be more in line with how my second visit went. I've yet to try their food, so I'll probably come back at least one more time, which'll serve as the tiebreaker as to whether The Yard is a worthwhile stop or not.

While our service was great, it looked like they had two servers for the entire place. We saw two tables of people get up and leave because the weren't being waited on. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, checking in on us a reasonable amount without being overbearing. However, the wait time for our food was disappointing. It took about 30 minutes to arrive, even though the restaurant wasn't very crowded. I ordered the steak quesadilla, and unfortunately, it was underwhelming. The bottom was soggy, and the steak was bland and somewhat rubbery. On a positive note, the beer cheese was really good and probably the highlight of the meal. Overall, the experience was just okay. Nothing stood out as particularly special, and the food didn't quite meet expectations. The waitress finally came around to take our orders about 15 minutes after we'd been sitting. We ordered 3 Captain Crunch Chicken Salads, a Bologna sandwich, a Pulled pork sandwich, a Chicken and one other wrap, a catfish Po'Boy and a couple more items. We finally got our food about 30-40 minutes later although the waitress did bring our drinks about 5 minutes or so after we'd ordered them. The restaurant wasn't that busy and they seemed to have enough staff but it sure seemed like it took a long time. I must say the waitress never really stopped back to check on our drinks til we'd almost finished our meal. The Captain Crunch Chicken Salad was just so-so. The chicken wasn't real hot but fairly warm. I doubt if I'd order it again. The Bologna sandwich was good and the guys liked their wraps. The person ordering the Po-Boy was expecting it to have catfish filets rather than Catfish nuggets...and there were so many of them he had to pull them off the sandwich in order to close it and eat it. He said he wouldn't order it again. Pulled pork must've tasted better than it looked because it was given a 4.0. Based on the time it took to get our orders and the food I doubt if we'll be returning with this group.
