Views - Amazing Bedrooms - OK…read moreCell service - Nonexistent WiFi - Only in the main conference area Other cool things - a huge library of books and DVDs, kaleidoscope collection, pool table, large TV with cable in the main house, breakfast is included, it's pretty close to snowshoe, you can go to their observatory for a great view or sit by their creek on their benches, they have a llama and a bunch of other animals, they have a sauna and hot tub. The hotel isn't so old, I was told 17 years old but it seems older with its classic style - it's gingerbread moldings and large porches - and it's quite cute. I really enjoyed my time here. I'm glad that I read about the lack of WiFi and cellphone service in advance so I was prepared. I took it as a break to spend time with my friends and husband - a time to disconnect. They also host spiritual conferences there, we were told. I can imagine it being a good place for a church retreat - the rates for conferences were very reasonable - advertised in the $400 range for a full weekend of meals and activities. I can imagine this business growing as the location is extremely beautiful and it's a powerful thing to disconnect and reconnect with loved ones.

The room is clean and with an unique theme as described on their website. The only downside is this place is too far from where we live. We would definitely like to visit more if it's closer. It's a perfect place for kids too.

Pretty decent Holiday Inn. This location has suites and the rooms are huge! One perk about this…read morelocation is that they offer free laundry! You just need to bring your own soap. Fitness center was decent. Front desk was friendly.

Stayed here for two nights to ride the trains! Quaint town…read more Ample parking. Negatives: *NOISE was BAD. Room above us sounded like there were people running all day/ evening, and we needed to call the front desk one night at 11PM to get them to stop. ALSO: noise from outside parking lots ( voices, car remotes..,) audible even though we were on the second story and windows closed. AND we were across from the ice machine, we heard that innumerable times, as well as voices-/ this is not a room location issue, but rather a poorly constructed building one, as none of these have been problematic to me in the past.. *pillows and mattresses not the most comfortable PROS: *complimentary laundry ( detergent not included). Got to do one load during a long road-trip *fitness center decent/ has a BOSU so I was able to do a good workout, but bicycle could be better maintained) but thanks for having it)*pool and sauna ( not used) *staff-most were pretty friendly *walking distance around town NEUTRAL: *complimentary breakfast: the omelets and potatoes were bland, turkey sausages were over cooked. They ran out of bananas one day but I guess that's on me for arriving later in the morning. But I guess we got some food.

Cave Hill Farm Bed & Breakfast - The Gold Room

Cave Hill Farm Bed & Breakfast

(Please note the dates on other reviews are over three years old. This reflects the current…read moreexperience.) I wanted to love the Cave Hill Farm B & B. The description and online reviews painted a picture of a quaint antique-filled farmhouse. This is true. I loved the antiques! The player piano and some furnishings reminded me of my childhood home. The innkeepers showed us around the first floor of the B & B and told us Keurig coffee was available anytime. We were told we could use the wine glasses on the buffet and there were bottles of water in the mini-frig near the dining room. They brought us to the Bridal Room, which was furnished in antiques. We asked for a restaurant recommendation and were not disappointed with their suggestion of Hank's Grill. When we returned later reality set in. There was no water in the mini-refrigerator. There was no closet, the armoire was too dirty and dusty to place our belongings, and the only hook fell off the bathroom door. The following evening we noticed our room had not been tidied, we had already made the bed but towels were not replaced, the shower gel dispenser which was almost empty hadn't been refilled, and the single tiny waste basket was not emptied. I am aware many hotels and inns eliminated daily cleaning since COVID, but it was not noted on the Cave Hill B&B website, nor did the innkeepers inform us. There should have at least been additional towels delivered outside our door, or four sets of towels in the room the first day and shampoo and shower gel filled. The first-morning juice glasses and a beautiful empty pitcher were on the breakfast table but there was no juice or water, therefore no beverages for non-coffee or tea drinkers. When we returned that night the walkway was so dark I needed a flashlight. We planned to have wine on the deck off the upstairs hallway. (The deck was a plus.) There was only one wine glass and it had a fingerprint. The following morning no glasses were on the breakfast table and there was still no water. We would have loved to learn more about the farm and cave but the only times we saw the innkeepers were at check-in and breakfast and that was only for a few minutes while she placed the breakfast on the table. We did not see the innkeepers, nor get a "Hope you enjoyed your stay" at check-out, the process is to leave the key in a basket. Cave Hill B & B is an interesting property with lots of potential but it needs a good cleaning and some Virginia hospitality.

I got a guided tour of the history and its history, Wow! I stayed in the gold room and I loved it! Big, so comfortable, clean, with original decorations. I felt like in a real living old-time home. As of why it is called the Gold Room - you will see the funny story on that in the room! Breakfast was so good: freshly made and generous, served with a smile. I would gladly come back!
