my pups really enjoying this hotel! :) comfy, big beds!
    Cristina D.

This hotel was awesome! Very close to JMU and near the mountains, many trails, and rivers. The staff were so friendly, the price was great, the room was clean and spacious. Really solid place! Pros: Location: Super conveniently located in downtown Harrisonburg, near various restaurants, supermarket, gas station, nature-y places, and of course, JMU. Price: I found a great deal for my 2 bed room on Priceline, and paid about 120 per night! Great price for the size and quality received. Friendly service: Dog friendly!: I was amazed that this upscale hotel was dog-friendly! My pups had plenty of room and enjoyed their stay as well! There were doggy bags and an area to take the pups out to relieve themselves very close to the entrance of the hotel. Very clean: The room, and hotel in general seemed super clean, and was well-lit. Comfy, spacious, and well stocked room: My room came with a kitchen, and a little bit of a living space. The kitchen was stocked with snacks, there was a fridge, a cute little stove, and a sink Free Breakfast: There is a free continental breakfast-- in the Covid19 climate, they adapted to a great system where they bag up your meal so that you can take it to go! Cons: Not a con so much, but a word of caution-- the continental breakfast only goes until 10am-- I was 2 minutes late and it was already closed :( So make sure to get up in time to grab some!

Piece of dog poop that was left on the floor for my dog to find. Lucky it was him who found it and not my 11 month old baby.

Let me start by saying my husband and I exclusively use Marriott hotels during our travels. This hotel should not be able to use the "Marriott" name with how appalling it is. We were traveling with our infant son and our two small dogs. After a long day of driving, we chose this hotel for our nights rest. Going to the front desk to check in, the attendant informed us there will be a $100 non refundable service fee for the dogs. They don't have designated rooms for pets only so they have to shampoo the carpets after we leave. Pretty upset about that as it was because for one night it cost us $253. We get to our bedroom and our dogs of course walked around sniffing everything and one picked up something off of the floor and started to eat it. After removing it from his mouth, i came to discover it was a piece of dried dog poop. Disgusting. Go to wash my hands in the sink and there's a clump of dog hair in the drain. Soooo I don't know where that $100 to clean the rooms after a dog stays there goes?

Fantastic place to stay if you want to hike Shenandoah. The hotel is located in an area with tons of restaurants, stores, anything you need. The rooms are spacious, clean, and staff very attentive. Breakfast during COVID limited to two hot items (eggs, meat, or biscuit), milk, juice, and all of that served from behind the plexiglass. Coffee and tea available in the morning.

I don't know who the housekeepers are here, but they should be fired. Upon checking into my room, I was looking for the remote control to turn off my TV (which Marriott inexplicably leaves on prior to me checking in). I couldn't find the remote, and so I called the front desk. They sent someone to bring up a new remote control for me, but while I was waiting, I discovered that the previous guests had moved the furniture around, and dropped the remote control behind the nightstand. Of course, with any competent staff, this would've been discovered prior to my checking in. However, since the Residence Inn Harrisonburg's housekeeping staff seem to be incompetent and/or lazy, I had to find it for myself. Same deal with the semen stain on the framed print in the bathroom (pictured). And the urine on the toilet seat. Seriously, why have these people not been fired? I usually leave a tip of $5-10 per night, but here? Yick! I leave a reprimand and an appeal to the manager to fire these people and hire someone who cares about their work. Edit. I cleaned the toilet bowl with the towels. They came out brown. Ew!

This is my first time staying at this hotel and it definitely won't be the last. We stayed in a 1 bedroom 2 queen suite and it was very comfy cozy. The staff was amazing , anytime we needed anything they took care of it promptly. I loved the convenience of being able to contact the front desk from the app, it's definitely an added bonus. I can't wait to come stay here again ! Usually we stay in a hotel at our vacation resort the day before checkin. It's usually very noisy all day/night long. We're never able to sleep at night. After traveling over 7 hours you want to have peace and quiet. We never get that when we stay there. So this is truly a life changing experience for us. Yesterday we were able to take a nap once we got settled and slept very well last night. Game changer for sure

This was a disaster from beginning to end - definitely not what we have experienced at Marriott…read moreproperties. Check-in was done online but despite arriving at 9:00 pm we were not assigned a room online. We went to the front desk and were given our room and physical keys. We got to our room and it was VERY warm inside. I immediately went to the wall thermostat and it had a black screen and was clearly not connected. I went to the unit attached to the wall/window and it was set to 70° and it was not 70° in the room. We called the desk and they said they would call maintenance, which they did. He arrived about an hour later and noted it clearly was not cooling. He began to look at the unit and noticed it was on 'fan' and not 'cool'. He had no idea why it was on fan. Fortunately it began to cool. I asked about the wall unit thermostat control and he said that as they began to fail in rooms they were disconnected. Not good. While we were waiting for maintenance the front desk clerk said they were adding 10,000 points to my rewards which I appreciated. When we finally got ready for bed, the pillows were the flimsiest pillows I have ever seen in a Marriott property and we asked for 'real' pillows, which the staff brought up. The pillows they brought up were what the room pillows should have been like. On Saturday we took showers and were shocked that the towels were almost see through with worn tears and rips in them. Again, not consistent with Marriott standards. We were gone for the day and when we got back that night we jumped on the elevator with two other folks before the doors closed - then we all realized - the doors wouldn't close. I went to the front desk to tell the clerk and she said 'yeah, we know' and then went back to using her phone. I asked if they were going to put a sign on it and was told 'we'll get to it'. I told the other guests the response and they were not happy either. We got back to our room and couldn't use any streaming devices because the tv said 'unable to connect to the internet'. We called the front desk and they said they would have someone look at it the next day. We were gone all day on Sunday and when we returned housekeeping had serviced our room which was great - no issues there. The streaming worked fine on the tv so we presumed it was corrected. We were gone most of the day on Monday. When we returned the tv was back to the 'unable to connect to the internet' again. As on Saturday night we couldn't log in to our Netflix, Prime or Pandora accounts - couldn't even get to those screens. We again called the front desk and were again told that someone would check it out the next day and were told they were adding another 10,000 points which was appreciated but it was becoming clear the property had problems and the answer was adding points. A mixed 'solution' We got up Tuesday and I had a folio in my email in-box which surprised me because when I originally booked the reservation on-line it did erroneously (probably my error) indicate a checkout of Tuesday. When I got the email confirmation on March 17, 2025 at 9:17 am I reached out to Marriott and they said I could contact the property directly, which I did on March 17, 2025 at 10:30 am (CST). When I contacted the front desk, I was told they were sold out and we'd have to move to a different room with double beds. I asked to talk to the GM and Franita Tanner (the GM) said that was the case. When I explained what happened on the reservation, she said 'it looks like you booked online' - no kidding - I had just explained all that to her - it was as though she wasn't listening. She confirmed that we would have to move rooms if we wanted to stay. I told her we'd had problems and she said 'I see that' and then went on to essentially say that we were the only guests who had any problems; that the reservation, internet, room AC, pillows, towels, etc. were our issues and nobody else had issues. Wow! I asked her if this property had been given a Marriott waiver from having to 'refresh' their rooms because they were clearly not up to Marriott requirements - she said 'no' Ultimately we opted to stay at another hotel for Tuesday night. Aside from the clerk on her phone and the GM, the staff were all helpful, friendly and polite. The rooms were clearly old - the furnishings were mish-mashed; the only outlets by the bed were one electrical outlet in the lamp on each nightstand - there were no USB chargers anywhere. The pillows, as discussed, needed to be changed out a long time ago. The towels were clearly over-used and should have been replaced. Not sure what the deal is with the internet. We would definitely not return to this property. But for some of the great staff, this would have been a '1-Star' review.

I chatted via the app pre-arrival to see if we could get an upgrade and was able to get into a larger room. Laurie was able to help. They gave me a warm cookie after checking in and the next morning 2. Room air conditioner works well 3. Room was cleaned well and had nice decor (pictured) 4. Shower pressure was ok and the bathroom generally looked nice (pictured) 5. Parking options completely surrounding the hotel 6. Close to the highway 7. Beautiful town 8. The group rate we got was about the highest I'd comfortably say it was worth to me. The regular rate wasn't too much higher, but it would be pushing it for me to end up staying here if I were visiting on my own. 9. Plenty and all types of shops and restaurants very close, nearly walking distance. Not so good: 1. Entrance light was busted (pictured) 2. Sink stopper busted (pictured) 3. TV remote with painters tape for a battery cover (pictured) 4. I had a room on the second floor with a window facing an internal hallway that had a constant bright light that I could have done without. Would prefer not having window in this situation personally. 5. Shower supplies empty or nearly empty (pictured). The body wash was empty so I just used the bar of soap. I didn't inform the staff of any issues to see how they'd remedy anything since they weren't issues that had much of any impact on my short stay. Otherwise, the pool and gym looked nice, but I didn't make time to experience either. I wouldn't mind staying here again for the group rate we were graciously provided.
