Our room came with a complimentary bottle of wine, which was really nice. They also have a wine hour that is self service and is complimentary. You're allowed as much wine as you want. John even made an apple pie to have with our 2nd morning breakfast. It was fun to visit the alpacas and donkeys, and give them treats. The B&B is fully air conditioned with individual settings for each guest room. We stayed in the Silk Room, which is enormous! In the antebellum era, silkworms were raised in there and fed harvested mulberry leaves. Modern amenities such as walk-in showers are blended well with the historic features so that there is no jarring sense of disconnect. Breakfast is served each morning by the Innkeepers and is a feast for the eye as well as the palate. Coffee, tea, and ice are available in the dining room 24 hours. There is a shared refrigerator and microwave for guests' convenience. The common parlors downstairs are tastefully furnished with good antique pieces. We loved our brief stay, the last two nights of a two-week honeymoon. Back again someday? Hope so!

They're so warm and welcoming, full of friendly conversation and inquisitive about everyone's interests and back grounds. There is plenty of morning coffee talk and stories a plenty. It feels like extended family. This is our second stay ( we knew we had to return again after our first visit) and it was just as amazing as the first visit. I recommend this place if you're looking to disconnect from mainstream life, and media and enjoy a quiet respite. My daughter and I enjoyed walks to pet horses, dogs, and cats around the property. Now to the farm's semi-secret identity: it also happens to be a playground for adventure motorcycling! Don't worry, it's still QUIET near the lodge and the pool area (not a lot of loud Harleys here!) but if you're interested or just getting into the sport, this is the place to be. Blair is an outstanding coach and will teach you whatever you need to know about riding off roads (and will help you properly configure your bike to boot!) and there are miles of perfect trails through the woods to explore right on the property. If you're considering your first BDR, I'd HIGHLY recommend a few days with Blair and Laura at Penmerryl first--they'll get you ready to go. (They'll also point you to the local riding trails). I'm a little worried about this place taking off, but I couldn't help but share. If you come, you'll be hooked.

For the most part the room was clean, but there were some small details that could have been better tended. The mirror in the bathroom needed wiped down and the sink faucet had some dusting of makeup powder for a previous visitor. There were some spots on the carpet that were missed during vacuuming. I would guess their water system is on a well as there was some sulfur odor from the water during showering. That being said the water was soft...so much so that rinsing soap away was difficult. We grabbed the brunch in the tavern in the morning. My husband had the farmhouse bowl which he enjoyed immensely. My pumpkin french toast was delicious as well. The Bloody Mary was tasty with the perfect amount of heat. The room was advertised as alloying a discount on brunch, however we were charged full price. The meal was very good, so we paid with no complaints, but if you stay and then eat, be sure to make sure to get your discount. Overall the stay was great. Just a few small items as mentioned, but nothing that would stop me from visiting again... well except maybe for the sulfur smell shower. We would definitely have brunch there again.

I liked how our room had its own mini fridge stocked with water. Plenty of parking outside in gravel or in the field next door if needed. This place has a lot of history and is rustic and beautiful. Our room was nice but the bathroom was a little outdated. The sink was in the room and the shower was small and old but did the job! I would definitely recommend this place if you're in the area and need a place to stay.

We stayed in the Hunt Country room. The king bed was very comfortable and had a romantic fireplace to keep the room warm. The room came with a jacuzzi bathtub that was perfectly sized for two. The Inn as a whole was very clean throughout and has great amenities. There is a coffee and tea bar in the hall for guests to use, and the Inn keeps it stocked with small snacks like nuts and popcorn. Guests can also relax in the hot tub out back or sit by the fire pit. The Innkeeper and owner Brigitte is lovely, and her cooking was amazing! Each breakfast started with a fresh cut fruit cup, baked good, juice, and coffee. We requested a savory main course, so we also had a small sweet dish to finish. Brigitte was mindful of our dietary preferences and did not disappoint with presentation or service. The Inn is conveniently located only a few miles from downtown and several hiking trails. You get the best of everything here, and we will definitely return!
