Service was quick and friendly. Steaks were cooked like we ordered. Price was reasonable as well. I would return when in the area. Appetizer was good, the cheese curds, fried pickles and bacon wrapped shrimp.

Shrimp and Bieriock sandwich. Everything was delicious and staff was super friendly!

Good food and very nice staff. The food came super fast. The waitress answered all of our questions quickly.

I have eaten here 6 to 8 times now. I eat here every time I come to town. Most of the food is really good. I've had the chicken fingers and the chips and dip. The chicken fried steak is the best I've ever eaten. The staff is courteous and attentive. I would give this place five stars except for a couple of things. First of all the ranch dressing is watered down and has very little flavor. The second thing is, the last few times I've been there my food comes out within two minutes after my salad does. I'm faced with the dilemma of letting my chicken fried steak get cold or my salad get soggy. I would prefer to eat my salad first and then get my meal hot. Those are a couple of easy fixes. I have mentioned that on my comment cards a couple of times, but it never gets changed.

Hayden gave outstanding service on Mothers Day. 16 oz Ribeye was good. Upgraded salid worth the extra $2.00. Homemade Rolls were so so. Yelp coupon for ice cream topped off the meal. $50 for two w tip and no drinks.

Stopped here driving back to Kansas City from Denver and was really glad we did. We both had KC Strips, baked potatoes and salad. Strips were cooked just right and were even good the second time around warmed up. Warm rolls with cinnamon butter! Service was excellent. Parking was easy. Highly suggest stopping by and trying this locally owned place.

One of the best restaurants in this small town! Would definitely recommend. Food is delicious and service was wonderful every time. Will definitely go back a few more times before I leave this area!

$3 for this "signature side asparagus". This is literally what they served me. Please upgrade your standards.

3.5 stars The place has some decent food and a great backstory to read. The service was fantastic. The food was okay. There are not a lot of places to pick from in Hays, KS and this one I thought would be one of the best, but it was middle of the road. I had the chicken fried steak which comes out rather large and round. Mashed potatoes and extra gravy. It was all good, but run of the mill good. The dinner salad was not much of anything and the "special" margarita was simply okay and small. Others had steaks that were okay as well. It is worth stopping in if your in town for more than one dinner.

The service was acceptable. Absolutely no seasoning on the ribeye. To me a great steakhouse is how re seas are seasoned, Disappointing.

My chicken fried stake was a bit bland but my wife really liked her sirloin tips. Service was good and the restaurant has a rustic charm.

The service matches the atmosphere perfectly: friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy to help you navigate their creative menu. The food here is where things really take off. The steak & blue cheese salad was outstanding--fresh, bold, and packed with flavor. The ahi tuna poke nachos were another knockout, the kind of dish you keep thinking about long after you leave. And if you're a burger person, this place is dangerous in the best way. Their burgers are consistently amazing: juicy, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Of course, you can't come to Gella's without enjoying their great beer, brewed right on site. Every pint feels like it was crafted to pair perfectly with the food. If you're in Hays, Gella's is a must‑visit. Creative dishes, great beer, beautiful space, and service that makes you feel right at home. An easy five stars.

Nbd wasn't stressed at that point because the bartender was super busy. I work in food service I get that.. Then the rest of the food came out and we were never checked on again for the next 20 minutes while we ate. Would have loved to bring up the fact that this chicken wing was completely RAW.. put it out by the card just waiting for the bartender to notice us/the chicken wing and she never did so we just paid and left. Hoping we don't get sick. The rest of the wings were cooked we just so happened to bust into to this one last.. Again I get it if you're absolutely slammed but just felt like we were getting completely ignored for no reason. We were polite so not sure what the deal was.

My wife searched for a local place to try and picked Cattleman's Cafe III. We pulled into Hays around 11 a.m., only to realize the restaurant didn't open until 11:30, so we drove around town for a little while before heading back. Once we went in, we were greeted by a very nice young lady who seated us right away and took our drink order. We both had iced tea. My wife ordered the pot roast with a side salad, and I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and corn. When the food arrived, everything looked amazing. My wife said the pot roast was so tender it was falling apart while she cut it. My chicken fried steak was the same way -- honestly tender enough to cut with a fork. The first bite was excellent. The meat was very tender and full of flavor. The mashed potatoes and corn were also very good, and my wife really enjoyed her meal as well. This place was excellent, and we are very glad we decided to stop here. Even the local people sitting next to us were friendly and enjoyable to talk with, which made the experience even better. It's always nice to learn something new and meet good people while traveling. If we are ever back in the area, we will definitely stop in again for another meal.

After reading the great reviews of their food and looking at the menu (and on their website) we were excited to get something that wasn't fast food. Told by a lovely barkeep that all they had were their late night menu - wings, cheese curds and fries. They had lost their cook, and hence no more fish tacos, chicken parm sandwich, etc. I ordered all 3 items, half wings with garlic parm and half boom boom, cheese curds and jazzed fries. Food came out very quickly and with a smile. The one star is for the friendly barkeep/cook. Food, very meh. Enough said. Perhaps inform the unsuspecting hungry customer that your menu isn't available- on Yelp or on your website. I mean, it's a bar after all, I suppose, and not a restaurant. And this'll teach me to read the dates on all those food reviews on Yelp! (It looked like a great place to hang and shoot some pool and listen to decent music. Just don't expect 90% of the food menu to be available.)

I ordered the Kansas Roll, which sounded promising with the fried panko, but it ended up being very bland and lacked the flavor I expected. I also tried the shrimp stir fry bowl, which was extremely salty to the point that I could only eat a few bites. The shrimp themselves were very small--closer to salad shrimp than what you'd expect in a stir fry. The restaurant was completely packed when I walked in, which usually signals great food, so I was honestly expecting a much better experience. Even with fairly modest expectations, the dishes I ordered just didn't deliver. The one bright spot was the customer service--Holly at the register was very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, the food itself didn't live up to the hype.

Good lord, I've never been so disappointed and right at the same time! The server told us to sit ourselves, and we decided to choose a table. The table was disgusting and not clean. Several gnats were flying around the restaurant, one particularly interested in our table. My mother's water tasted disgusting, and my hot green tea was subpar at best because it was made with the same water, so you could still taste it. The food was awful. I got the spicy crab bowl, which was obviously an imitation and somehow had no flavor. I don't know how you managed that everything basically tasted the same to a point where it was inedible. I took maybe two bites, and then I couldn't stomach anymore without feeling like I was going to vomit. I've had better sushi when buying it from the store, which says something! In the long run, I think many people's perspectives on sushi quality need to be improved.
