*MUST READ* Starting off the food is good. Which is a wildly weird situation. I rarely review restaurants or businesses but this one made me get back on the app. When my friend and I walk into the business the we are asked if we ordered. After stateing my name one of the employees rudely greeted us saying "we're busy" and dropped the food in front of us. seconds later another employee walks behind him and rudely states that they don't get tipped and not to go through DoorDash. They throw a paper of the menu at us and we are appalled at the level of horrible service. The issue is not what they said it's how they handled the situation so poorly. Workers were rude and unprofessional. We walked in around 8:20 and sat at the counter for a few minutes before someone came over and just telling us no repeatedly. She said we're not taking anymore orders. Then someone else tried coming over saying they have to stop taking orders around 8:30 to get out by 9. It's pretty standard hibachi food, but the takeout version without entertainment, which in turn, makes it pretty affordable. You get a really big portion too. We got a double meat (chicken and steak), with fried rice, and a double seafood (Salmon and shrimp) with noodles. My wife and I both preferred the noodles over the fried rice, definitely worth the $1 upcharge. I'd also say the salmon was our favorite of the proteins, followed by shrimp, chicken and then the steak. But no complaints with any. The employee that answered the phone was helpful, and everything with the pickup went smoothly. It took about 25 minutes. Oh, and definitely get their homemade yum yum sauce. It's really good. I saved some to use on sandwiches, salads, etc. Really different and tasty. It's a little out of the way, but if I'm in the area I'd probably stop back. read more

My girlfriend and I frequent this restaurant and it's become our favorite hibachi very quickly. The food is consistent and excellently prepared, the service is always above and beyond. And above all else, prices are extremely fair for how much food you get. Hibachi Xpress has weaved itself into our routine. Would be 6 stars if possible!!! read more

The food was disgusting. And that does not even cover it! The vegetables were mushy. The flavor was bland. The rice was crunchy. And the salmon was not cooked. Worst hibachi I have ever had. I had to throw it away after 3 bites. I am still hungry. I need to eat something else for dinner now. It's also more expensive by 6 dollars than my other hibachi place in Columbus which is 1 million times better. I am not being dramatic. Run away as fast as you can! I've been going here for probably about a year now, this is my go-to hibachi place! Not sure why this place isn't at at least 4 stars but the staff is always super friendly & helpful when i come in. I usually order the Steak hibachi & it's always sooo good.. the portion size is huge which is perfect for left overs ;), the steak is always cooked perfectly & their noodles are better than most sit down hibachi restaurants I go to. Love that you can get the food to-go & not have to sit down! The food is pretty affordable considering the portions & the quality, also wait times have always been reasonable (20-30 mins for me usually), which is awesome!! Yum! I ordered the chicken entree and a seafood trio. Both were so good. The scallops are bay scallops but you get a ton of them. Yum yum sauce is addictive. A lot of restaurants right now tell you 20-25 minutes for Togo but then you wait for an hour; this place said an hour and it was exactly an hour. I knew when to leave, they knew how busy they'd get. I have been a die hard fan of this Hibachi Xpress since I moved to Kent a year and a half ago, it's always been top notch food that I can continually get week to week. However in the past few weeks, maybe even months, it's gone downhill. I always order their vegetable hibachi with white rice and many times now i've gotten it and everything is undercooked and chalky tasting, pretty much inedible. And just tonight I received only white rice with no vegetables at all. Luckily Doordash refunded my order + some, but It does make me sad because I've touted this restaurant as my favorite in the area, maybe anywhere, and I might need to find another restaurant to order from now. read more

I had specified in two locations when ordering online that I did not want my order to have vegetables due to an allergy. When I called the store I was assured to call back the very next day when a manager was there for a full refund because it was what the woman on the phone claimed as "her fault." So the next day rolls around and I was told that I could not get a refund for my food that Hibachi clearly made wrong and I had to throw out. Door dash gave me a $3 refund for their end but Hibachi Express had absolute terrible customer service and I am now out my money for my meal that I had to throw out. We ordered using Uber eats. I called and asked for the steak to be rare... what I got was steak that was way... way... beyond well done. It was all mixed in to a to go container that looked like it was all one color... black. The steak was literally like shoe leather it was so over cooked. My wife... who will only eat steak well done... gaged on it. Even she was weirded out that anyone would cook meat so far past well done. It is also no longer "Xpress" either. I just ordered in person and they told me it was an hour wait, but not until after I had already paid. When I questioned the hour wait, the woman at the register said oh sorry I meant to say 30 minutes. I thought that was kind of long too but said ok and walked out. Before I pulled, out she came out and told me 45 minutes. If I would have known before I ordered that an "Xpress" restaurant was going to take 45 minutes I would have went somewhere else. I bought a restaurant.com coupon for this place and thought I'd give it a try. Drove 7 miles to get take out but when I presented the coupon they said that they did not accept restaurant.com coupons and that the owner never authorized restaurant.com to sell coupons to their restaurant. Said they only took coupons from flyers like Gold Clipper. Made me feel like it was my fault somehow. The coupon I bought was for $15 off a $30 order. So I asked if they had any coupons that they did take that I could use. Thought maybe they'd comp me a $5 coupon for my trouble. They just said no. I left without getting food and won't be back.
