The second the contract was signed, they hung us out to dry. The schedule went 7x the quoted time, and we had no support from anyone at 2FL. We were told they'd be finished in one week, but this job took over 7 weeks. There was no outside reason for the job being delayed-no material availability problems, etc. The crew just showed up around noon everyday, and left around 3pm (or sometimes didn't show up at all). We had to push back multiple other jobs to account for 2FL's delays. Some jobs we couldn't push back, and the other crews had to come in and work around 2FL's constant worksite mess. Tools were everywhere, insulation and sawdust were left to sit on the floor for weeks at a time, and open cans of stain and half-used caulk tubes were strewn about until the very last day. After informing 2FL of our issues, the owner (Terry) fired the two people working on our job. I found this out because one of the crew texted me to say "your email to my boss just got us fired." Terry told us he would have a new crew on our job that could finish the job in 2 days, and assured us that he'd take care of us. Then the Friday before work was to start again, the original crew texted me to say "All of the other crews are slammed, so unless you wanna wait, you're stuck with me. Cya Monday." We tried to call the owner about this, and he never called us back. Instead, the crew called us again and said "Terry told me to call you." We were not pleased with how this was handled, but we thought it would all be over soon, so we swallowed it and moved on. Weeks later, we were still having problems. This time, with schedule and work quality. We called the project manager and insisted that he come see the work, and he came over. He agreed that things were not great, and told the crew to fix the crooked window and sloppy trim work. We were fine with this solution, but the work kept dragging out, and the crew kept telling us "It will absolutely be done today." After more than a week of excuses, the work was still not done, and we were up against a hard deadline with our flooring install starting. I called the project manager again, and he had an admin assistant call me back instead. They told me they'd get me taken care of, but I never heard back from anyone again. No one came to do a final walkthrough of the work, or even call to check on things. The first call we got after all of this was just another call requesting final payment. When the job was finally complete, the crew left the place a mess, and with incomplete work everywhere (see photos). We had to scrape up the junk all over the floors ourselves, and then hire another crew to come fix the interior drywall and exterior siding work that was left incomplete by 2FL. In short, I'm so glad this experience with 2FL is over, and I wouldn't advise anyone to work with them, for any reason.

I have such peace of mind knowing that as we find more things wrong with our house, Tony and his crew will do it right the first time and only charge for what is done. I hired Sound Siding to replace a rotting deck in March 2015 that cost me $15,000. I would never…read morehire them again. Additionally, Sound Siding has done a recent $150,000 re-siding project on a West Seattle condo building where I'm a Board member. Their crew covered-up at least one dryer vent with siding by mistake, their grave oversight only recently discovered by accident when our dryer vents were cleaned. Dozens if not a hundred loads of wet laundry have been dried with the moisture being evaporated either UNDER the new siding or into the crawl space where it can cause damage like black mold!! This is an appalling mistake, to cover up a dryer vent with siding! Although Tony's crew does competent work, my own $15,000 deck project in 2015 should have taken only 2-3 months, but dragged on for 6 months while Tony pursued larger condo projects. Tony also told me the unfortunate story of his daughter, and I am sorry for anyone who loses a loved one, especially a child. He sat at my dining table for 2 hours in 2015 and cried when he shared the story, and we got tears in our eyes as well. At the end of his talk, I wrote him a check for $10,000-12,000 to cover the 80-90% partially completed work. Next, 6 months of broken promises went by before our deck was finished and the scaffolding removed. For 6 months we had no deck railing and a 30 foot drop off our master bedroom deck, with plastic and scaffolding left on 3 stories of our house because the project was 90% complete but Tony wouldn't finish the all-important last 10% to put the railing in. At one point, I began to doubt the stories Tony told me claiming our deck railing was on order, so we actually called the deck railing manufacturer and discovered he'd never phoned in the order for our railing despite repeated assurances he'd done so. There were many days he promised Bruce would work on our deck where Bruce just wouldn't show and we'd be left leaving voicemails and texts for Tony that went unreturned. Sound Siding was the epitome of a nightmare contractor experience. While I feel badly he lost his daughter so many years ago, the fact that the story was shared in what I thought was a heartfelt conversation than was then followed by a 6 month nightmare really rubs me the wrong way, and I still remember it 3.5 years later. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt but we got burned so many days with Sound Siding. I would never do business with Sound Siding again.

He did show, after I called the office AGAIN, and was over 30 min. late. That was on Nov 13. Since then, the KCHRP rep I'm working with and I have been GHOSTED and we never received any estimates for the work that would be done. All of that time spent for NOTHING.

I asked him if I could hire him to put together my new pressure washer and he said he'd come over after work. Sure enough, he showed up when he said he would, and here were the first words out of his mouth: "I'm not going to take your money, I just want to help you." His name is Junior and he owns the company. He assembled my pressure washer very quickly and told me he repairs roofs, he paints, he cleans gutters, and he repairs leaks in addition to pressure-washing. It was about 5:15pm when he finished and told me he had three more jobs to do that night before he could get home to his wife and two little boys. So I'm writing this because people like Junior deserve the same kindness he offers-and I hope everyone who reads this will think of him when they need some house maintenance & repair.
