After a brief hiatus in 2020 due to COVID, the event returned in 2021 in a smaller format at The Backyard before expanding to larger venues like Revolution Live and the War Memorial Auditorium. I recently attended the Indie Craft Bazaar at the historic War Memorial Auditorium, which has just undergone a multi-million-dollar renovation by the Florida Panthers. The venue--flexible enough to host concerts and large-scale events--was the perfect setting. The bazaar runs from 12-5 PM and features over 95 vendors, with free admission and parking. It's also very family-friendly. I had a great time browsing a wide variety of handmade, artisan, vintage, and locally made goods. There was everything from jewelry, live plants, and clothing to crystals, candles, bath products, accessories, stickers, crochet flowers, baked goods, and stationery. One standout for me was the upcycled concert T-shirts from Backstage Trends. They also offer fun extras like free swag bags for the first 100 guests, DIY activities, and food and drinks from The Federal. Plus, you can even go ice skating next door at the Baptist Health IcePlex. It's easy to pair the Indie Craft Bazaar with other activities in Holiday Park and make a full day of it. Most places were already ran through but Google said they might have some V-Day gifts/decor so I was desperate and made my way over. They truly had such unique items that you don't typically find in other stores. Because they have a wedding aisle, I got some miscellaneous things from that section too and curated a box for my loved one. There were a lot of items on sale too so I didn't spend over $50 on everything. Luckily, the store wasn't packed so i was in & out relatively quickly. I'll definitely be coming back for some home decor as this store is HUGE and caters to many different aesthetics.

One of the things I've noticed recently has been that since the installation of the self service cash registers, there seems to be a belief amongst the staff that they don't have to talk to customers anymore. This morning, I had a similar experience. I went to the Michaels and found the frame that I was looking for. when I approached the register section of the store I could not find an employee. I did find a girl who was standing by the balloons and when I asked her for help, she had to tell the person on her AirPods to please hold on that there was a customer interrupting her. She then pointed me at the self serve, cash registers to let me know that those were there for my convenience. At which point she went back to talking on the telephone with her friend. I am certain that Michaels is not passing along the savings to their customers because the prices are absurd. And yet they can't seem to manage their staff at all.
