SHADY BUSINESS, I paid $2500 for a product that was not legitimate, I owe the company one last payment of $89 and they told me that They were going to look into seeing if the debt can be forgiven since I was scammed by the company who they chose to work with and instead of getting back to me they all of a sudden tell me now I have a late fees and it's over $250 now??? Seems like these people work with fraudulent businesses that will scam you out of your money and then they'll lie to you just so that way your remaining balance can Be late on payments and accumulate more debt. Avoid this company at all costs. I signed up for aligners from Smile Direct and it turns out that the company went into bankruptcy. No products were ever sent. Even though HFD claims that anyone who didn't receive their aligners will have their contracts cancelled, they have not cancelled mine or many other people's contracts. They won't connected to a supervisor, the supervisor never calls back as promised, they don't answer emails or complaints on their site and they stopped replying to my Better Business Bureau complaint. Health Care direct is either the most incompetent Company I have ever dealt with. Tried for 3 months to get an itemized bill so I could payoff the balance. Every one I talked to said I would get within days. My husband who is a Judge and Attorney was hung up on. Finally recieved a bill without a breakdown of charges and credits. Shady company that charges bogus fees. Was charged $25 returned payment fee even though it is set to autopay! Got payment email on a saturday and what do you know it charged itself the following Monday so my payment method is obviously working without issue. Other people have mentioned a glitch with their crap website so I wouldn't be surprised if it failed over the weekend to charge my card. Please research this company before committing to a payment plan from Smile Direct Club! It is absolutely the worst.. I signed up for a 24 month payment plan initially, but changed to a 12 month plan with payments of $135 month. After completing my payment plan last month I received a random charge for $80. Their limited hours and poor customer service has made this error almost impossible to correct. I wish they didn't MAKE you sign up for automatic payments. This company is not worth the one star, that's the defaulted selection. I signed up for Smile Direct Club (SDC) on August 27, 2019. I agreed to setup a SmilePay account on my aligner treatment plan through "Healthcare Finance Direct". SDC partners with Healthcare Finance Direct (HFD) to administer my monthly payment plan of $88.68 for 12 months which started on October 1, 2019. The problem began when I reached out to HFD's customer service department and requested a due date change from the 1st to the 15th each month, they assured me the change was submitted and my auto payments would be debited from my account the next following month. I was being proactive and decided to make an extra payment to get ahead of my payment schedules. Since October of 2019, my due date has not been processed successfully. I called several times asking why it says my account is pass due, they responded saying "Just ignore it, its a system issue". Three months later on 1/29/20, HFD is fraudulently making unauthorized payments from my credit card. I've been double billed for services that I did not agree too. As of January 31, 2020, my due date is still not changed as promised by the company and I have not received a refund of the unauthorized double payment towards my Smilepay account. If I would have read the negative reviews about this company beforehand, I would have never used SmileDirect club as the company to correct my teeth. HFD does not make the Customer Experience a high priority for the clients who are seeking to pay off their balances. read more

While I admit, that I fell behind making payments on my Smile Direct Club due to my FSA card expiring, as I called to make payment arrangements advised under THEIR final notice email, I had 10 days before being sent to collections. I contacted them within a day of that notice and kept calling until the 6th day. They were not able to assist me and the account had already it to collections. My issue is not the collections piece, is the communications that were sent and the misinformation provided. read more

This is honestly one of the worst companies ive ever worked with. The whole staff in their call center is extremely rude and unprofessional, i once had a $60 late fee I talked to three different people and not one person could tell me where it came from. I told them that it was probably because I lost my wallet in June and had to get a replacement card. And then finally they found it. I called to get help not to do their job. On top of that i told them that i was in the middle of a move and that I didnt have much money and asked if i could have the fee waived due to the circumstance, or pushed back to the end of my payments and they said they could push it back to the end of my billing cycle but two days later ended up making an unauthorized charge to my account from your company of $170. I literally had only a few dollars to my name after this and couldnt even afford to buy myself or my dog food. I literally had to beg people for money so i could afford to eat, it was embarrassing. I am currently having another late fee issue and have been on hold for 2 hours when i was 12th in line to start with, after 2 hours i am currently 7th in line still. If it takes your companies call center to 2 hours to get through 5 customers you might need to start training your staff better or think about expanding your call center. This is ridiculous. I updated my billing info on the site and your system is so bad that it wouldnt even allow me to make a payment directly from my bank account. im sure due to your messed up billing system you guys will charge me another $60 dollar late fee and if ever get the chance to talk to an actual person to fix the problem they wont be able to help me out anyways. Smile Direct Club's experience with Healthcare Finance Direct has been the worst. I purchased clear aligners from Smile Direct Club and scheduled 24 monthly payments, but after three months, I realized I could pay the bill in 18 months. The most recent was in October of 2021. After that, they debited my account in December 2021, after it had been fully paid, stating that it was a service cost for switching from 24 to 18 months. This was not stipulated in the contract they signed with me. I phoned customer service twice and received contradictory responses from both representatives. People that work with your money should be cautious. They deprive their customers of their money. read more

I paid my bill manually the day it was due and was charged a $25 late fee because the auto payment attempted to use an old credit card. I don't see anywhere in the contract stating I have to make a payment by a specific time on the due date. I believe the time they said was at 12 a.m. I did not get a notice that my info needed to be updated until it was hours too late. How can I correct a problem if I am not made aware of it on time? I would understand if I was a day late, but I paid the bill the same day it was due! There's no leniency at all, and they would not waive it this one time...especially since I didn't know this was even part of the policy until now. Careful they take extra money from your payment method on file I purchased tooth aligners via SmileDirectClub and they sent my monthly finance charges through this company. My initial payment of $250 was put on my credit card which was completed on April 19th. On that same day, I was told that all payments would be put onto this same card. I called smiledirectclub immediately and gave them my bank debit card, which they updated on my profile account through their website. On April 20th I received my contract from Healthcare Finance Direct which showed my correct payment (my debit card). Apparently they tried to take my payment from my initial credit card and it was declined so they charged me a $25 fee. I immediately called and they argued with me. They said, "we will have to verify with smiledirectclub that you updated your payment in order to refund you." I replied, "Clearly it was updated because YOU sent me a contract with the correct payment form on it." They didn't care, so I waited for them to do their "investigating" and called back 2 months later since I realized they hadn't refunded the charge. I spoke with a superviser who was completely unprofessional and absolutely foul. She said, "it is too bad, you signed a contract and you were late." I tried to remind her that my contract has the correct card and then she went as far as to say, "we sent you a new contract in May with the credit card and it was your reponsibility to take care of it." WHAT?!? I am confused. AGAIN, I signed the initial contract making the change to my debit card for all future monthly payments and received a copy via email so.....how did my old card (the initial payment) get back into the system?!? Umm...YOUR mistake. Luckily, Daniel, supervisor at smiledirectclub got the same unprofessional and foul response from this Healthcare FInance supervisor and he credited my account. So...I would love to do a fraud claim against this Healthcare Finance Direct. I wonder how many other clients have been scamed out of small debits that they may not have noticed. read more

I have been dealing with these guys since February 2020. They were paid in full in April and I told them I was cancelling my debit card. They refused to give me an address to pay the bill off in full. I finally went in a certified check which took a month to post. Since February they are continuing to try and run my cancelled debit card. When they don't get any money they charge me $25.00. They recently turned me over to collection. I will not pay for there stupid of using an obsolete card. I would never trust these guys with a health account. If I could give them a negative 10 rating I would. This company is incompetent with billing and payments. My card was on autopay and they didn't charge my card. I manually went in and made the payments and they tacked on 25.00 late fees for each one. I attempted to fight this and was told to produce my bank statements proving I had the funds in my account. I went to my bank and they provided me with my daily balance sheets for the payments in question- and they also verified that HFD NEVER attempted charges to the cards on the days they said they did ( why would my bank lie) so I uploaded them to the email as I was asked. I was then told that I needed to produce information from my bank that my debit card was connected to this account for them to waive the fees...seriously. So I updated my routing number and checking account with the representative in an attempt to make it easier for payments...you guessed it they never took the money out and charged me ANOTHER 25.00 fee. So I called and they told me I took too long calling and there was nothing they could do for me. I just emailed the BBB and spoke with someone regarding unethical business practices in my states AG's office. If you require autopay and a customer has everything set up and your payment system doesn't work how is that the customers fault. Emails, phone calls, etc. I asked for another deferment and they couldn't even work with me. They call you and say they notice you didn't make a payment and if you want to make it today.
