My husband and I went to see Jean in February 2014 for a free financial checkup. My husband was REALLY not wanting to go, but he went. I worry about finances and retirement -- he doesn't. When I say I worry -- I mean I psycho worry. So, I think he was hoping that if he would just go with me that I would stop worrying about it -- and, it's pretty close to working!
Jean made us feel good about the things we were doing well and made some very distinct recommendations for things we were behind on. The format to get all of your information before the meeting seemed very secure and their communication was very good. The meeting is very involved.
After our free checkup, we signed up to do a deeper financial dive. You pay half up front and half at the meeting. I didn't know how much I was expecting to pay, but my husband (remember, the one who didn't want to go) felt like it was reasonable.
We came out of the meeting with great tax preparer recommendation (who was cheap and came to our house), some very specific targets and an action task list. She even followed up after 6 months to make sure we were following what we had talked about. I have even sent her a few things to review for me in between and she has gotten me answers quickly and doesn't seem inconvenienced at all. Overall, I feel her strength was understanding how my husband and I are very different and helping us set some financial plans that would work for both of us.
It is a fee based service, so she does not complete any of the transactions for you, she just looks at your options and makes recommendations. A++ so far! Thanks Jean! read more
