The staff is extremely friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful. While it may seem weird for a non-alcohol drinker to visit a winery, I've been told at other wineries that it's quite common, and other wineries offer a fair selection of non-alcoholic beverages for such patrons. Bateaux only offers water, so anybody hoping for kombucha, iced tea, sodas, etc. is out of luck. Their food menu consists of two pizzas: Margherita, and pepperoni. They're wood-fired, and the dough is made in-house. The pizzas are competent, but they're on the pricy side, and are nothing noteworthy. Service is fast, and there is table service, even if you're just sitting in an Adirondack chair that you randomly positioned in a spot of shade close to the stage. Be aware that Bateaux is completely hidden from view from its street entrance, and that there is a longer-than-expected drive on a single-lane dirt road to get from the street to the winery. Although I didn't encounter any traffic trying to leave when I was entering, eluding oncoming traffic would have been tricky.

He was in his brewery when we arrived and met his beautiful friendly dogs. I called ahead to purchase some mead and wine. He went the extra mile and gave my partner and I a tasting. Insisting you have to know you like the product before buying. I really appreciated that as I struggle finding alcohol I enjoy. All of it was delicious and talking to him was a delight. He's very knowledgeable about his craft and is quite good at it. We ended up purchasing a blueberry mead, cherry mead, and lemon wine. He managed to capture the flavors of his ingredients while keeping a lovely and light beverage that I can't wait to serve at my upcoming party. This is definitely a place to come and check out. As he does so much aside from brewing you'll find something for the whole family! All while enjoying the lovely grounds that he maintains. Very good news!…read more This winery has been operating irregularly the last year or so. The owners, who are friends, have been dealing with some health issues. But as I said - good news! They are both past those health issues and now open week ends again. A side benefit (if you can call it that) to their being closed is that much of the wine laid down in barrels before their health issues hit has only become better. It is now being bottled. But what you may not know, is that if you can name a fruit, Dan's turned it into wine. Blackberries, pineapple, apple, strawberry, cherry...even raspberry jalapeño if you really want to push everything you think you know about wine to the brink.
