He was in his brewery when we arrived and met his beautiful friendly dogs. I called ahead to purchase some mead and wine. He went the extra mile and gave my partner and I a tasting. Insisting you have to know you like the product before buying. I really appreciated that as I struggle finding alcohol I enjoy. All of it was delicious and talking to him was a delight. He's very knowledgeable about his craft and is quite good at it. We ended up purchasing a blueberry mead, cherry mead, and lemon wine. He managed to capture the flavors of his ingredients while keeping a lovely and light beverage that I can't wait to serve at my upcoming party. This is definitely a place to come and check out. As he does so much aside from brewing you'll find something for the whole family! All while enjoying the lovely grounds that he maintains. His manager told him to turn the volume off. Several other customers also asked for the volume to be turned back on, but apparently the manager wasn't interested in allowing us to hear the announcers and the game. Service was, to borrow a phrase I used earlier: meh. Eventually a different server came around and asked if we'd like more water or refills on drinks. Probably not a spot I'd return to.

We got there around 6:30 PM on Thursday evening and the wait was about 20 minutes for families, but we sat at the bar at a high top and got right in. We found service to be friendly and prompt. The gentleman who was taking care of us was attentive without being pushy. We started with the fried pickles which came out with ranch and aïoli for dipping. It was a huge portion. Tasty indeed. While I know pickles are inherently salty, I did find these to be exceptionally salty, leaving me to wonder if the batter was also salted, which definitely would not be necessary. Just know that if you are planning on ordering them. We also both got the Smoked Steak Salad. The salad was fresh and nicely dressed. Both of them came with a very generous serving of meat. The meat was just OK. They do not ask you how you would like your steak cooked, so once I got it, that made sense. I'm guessing they don't just smoke it for a little bit and finish the cooking it another way because it is well done with some rough bits - perhaps leftovers from something else. Honestly, I would prefer to have a nice juicy steak on top of a salad, and while I enjoyed this enough, I probably would not get it again for this reason. We both got a beer flight too, and found all four choices to be really good! I will definitely come back here when I'm tired of options at Great Wolf. I'd be interested in trying their sandwiches, as I saw a couple people with French Dips that looked really good.

We waited over an hour and our waiter finally comes back to tell us that due to a Big Table outside our food is running behind, we said that's fine. 30 mins later, he comes back and tells us he mistakenly did not put our orders in and he takes full accountability but the fact that he only placed 1/2 of order and realized it an hour and a half later and waited 30 mins passed to tell us was beyond acceptable. We had a 1 year old and a 2.5 year old babies with us, we got there at 5:15pm and left at 8pm with no Main Course, we decided to leave and they offered to give us our main dishes for free and that had to pay for our apps and drinks. At that point, we weren't even hungry anymore- we were more upset than hungry. Word of Advise- don't dismiss a table of 5 for a table of 20. That party of 20 already includes 16%-18% Gratuity on their Tab, whereas a table of 5 could be giving you 20%-25% Gratuity for yourself only & not to have to share with other servers esp. if you are given cash. That table of 5 could sit there for hours just sitting and chatting and won't turn the tables over to new guest, whereas a table of 5 can eat, enjoy their meal, give good tip and leave within an hour and a half. And you'll have new table instantly, more money for you. To the kitchen staff, don't walk past your guests when they're asking you a question and as if they didn't exist. I'd hate to think it's Race Discrimination because we were the only Asians there but that's definitely how it felt.

Good Buzz also does not have a tasting room of it's own. However if you go to the website for Good Buzz Brewing you will find what locations you can purchase their mead from around the Centralia and Chehalis areas. I bought my bottle at the produce section and corner at Jeremy's Farm to Table. I saw about three or four different types of mead but didn't want anything too sweet. I saw berry flavored options but had concerns that might make it sweeter than I'd prefer so I got the Bee Hoppy mead. Mead is often sweet enough as it is due to the honey so that is the reason I went with a hopped option as well. The mead was great! I usually love trying different meaderies as they aren't as numerous as breweries or even cideries so when I get to try one it's a great change of pace. The hops and the mead played very well off of each other with the Bee Hoppy and was refreshing as well. Great first experience with Good Buzz and perhaps since they handled the flavor balance so well it may motivate me to try some of those berry options at another time.

I'm really glad that I did! They specialize in unique and/or hard to find types of flour and baking materials. While I am not a baker much at all, I do know and appreciate the difference in types of flour - where and how it's ground - and how it tastes compared to what you would usually find at the grocery store. In addition to the flours that are for sale (either packaged or in bulk), they also have spices, starters, and beans/lentils. There even is a shelf of Chehalis grown wheat flour! So nice to have a locally owned shop selling locally grown products. The owner has his own grinding equipment behind the counter (that is easy to see when he's at it) and was very friendly and eager to answer any questions that I had. I will definitely spread the word about the Grist Urban Stone Mill to all of my baking friends!
