Donuts were so stale. Quality was so bad its heartbreaking. I grew up in area and these were the only donuts we ever got. Always the best. We went saturday morning at 9 am so fairly early no butterflys or orange roll. Also cream in filled sub was not good had a very off putting taste. No one in the house of 9 ate them. They were terrible. So sad at this truly the first time ive ever thrown away donuts here. And cost was not cheap. Service was quick and very friendly. Not sure where old recipes went but they need to go bsck to tried and true. read more

The picture showing is pies, but since new ownership they do not carry pies. Decent donuts, great apple fritters. Carry donut holes, cookies, and a cooler of milk and cold drinks, as well as basic coffee (have decaf too). The donuts were a hit each time I brought to my job. I've tried their German chocolate brownie and it was tasty--they have quite a few flavors of brownies. Opens at 6 am but closed on Sunday. read more

Many, many choices! Great smells. The doughnuts are tasty and the pies look great! We came for the giant sugar cookies! Great with a steaming cup of Java! My wife used to visit this bakery for cinnamon rolls when on the way to visit her grandma in Kingsland fifty years ago. She claims it has not changed a bit! We were in town to check out the Filipino carry out joint ( Egg Rolls and More) and had to have dessert! I hope some new restaurants sprout up in town so we have a reason to visit Heyerleys for sugar cookies!!!! read more

Had place an order on Friday to be picked up on Monday early afternoon. The young ladies were very polite, order was ready & waiting, chose extra item from the case, the young lady was very friendly and nice, nothing beats an old fashioned bakery. Will return often! read more

We ordered a dozen for the road and, on the way back home, there were none left. I am so glad I finally got visit Heyerly as it is an Ossian staple. Along with the dozen donuts, we bought a box of oatmeal raisin cookies and those disappeared as well. I love that the bakery is across the street from the library because you can grab a treat and a cup of coffee and read the newspaper at the library. The prices were awesome as well as I am from Los Angeles and everything is expensive here. I am definitely looking forward to coming back for a cake and probably everything else. read more

These rolls be smelling all good and old fashioned. Love the smell of it in here! smells like it did when I was a kid. Free small coffee and free donut holes, for years and it never changed. The place smells like going back into time, place be smelling better than about anywhere. Ahh Mane is it heaven up in here. The smells of the cakes and donuts. I love the donuts up in here, especially the donut holes. When they aint looking a stuff my pockets, grab a few free coffees and say hey just browsing today. Ahhh Heck's naw I don't LOL I get me like 1 donut, love the jelly fills up in here, ahh Mane is it off the ringer! And dem chocolate long johns with that white cream filling! Did I say free coffee? It taste real good like they cooked it on a kettle and put it in an old school coffee dispenser. Cakes look real good too! never had one, but do they smell so ever good! I love this place. read more

Whenever we visit relatives in the Ossian area, we make it a point to stop at the bakery. This has been a tradition for close to 50 years! So when I read online that the bakery had a new owner, I was really hoping that the wonderful baked goods would still be the same! We visited today, and I sniffed the air as I walked in....SMELLED THE SAME! And the real test: Yes! The rolls taste just as yummy as they had in past years! Good job to you new owner! read more

Not nearly what it used to be. They led my 75 year old Mom that she would receive a freshly baked birthday cake when she ordered it. It had obviously been frozen. It was still frozen in the center. The frosting had no flavor. She had been going there since the 50's. I don't think she'll ever go back, she can get a frozen cake at Walmart. Delicious home made tasting doughnut fillings! Raspberry, the "Boston cream," chocolate & Lemon were all bright with flavor! Better filled donuts than Krispy Kreme, no artificial flavor off notes, just pure flavor -- they use great ingredients! "Bread" donuts not too sweet or greasy, frosting just sweet enough. Yummy! I was disappointed with donuts. We tried 3 varieties, blueberry cake, cinnamon cake and chocolate frosted cake. The best of the three was the blueberry, the cinnamon had no cinnamon flavor at all. The chocolate also needed more frosting or a stronger chocolate flavor. I enjoy trying new bakeries but honestly Dunkin Donuts makes better donuts. read more

This is the best bakery in Northern Indiana! This bakery SMELLS like a bakery should, all warm and yeasty. All of the baked goods are made onsite, fresh daily. My favorite are the caramel maple nut logs and coffee rolls. If you want fresh, it doesn't get much fresher than this. They aren't focused on flavored coffees, breakfast sandwiches, etc., etc.. I wish this bakery was in my hometown. Although, it's probably a good thing that it's not. They have the most delicious donuts. Every time we visit my husband's grandmother, we make a trip to the bakery and pick up grandma's favorite danishes and get a dozen for us to bring back home with us. Our Realtor brought us a Pecan pie and it was from Heyerly's. My wife of 45 years has baked many pies,said that this was the best pecan pie she'd ever had. I agreed, so we hid it on Thanksgiving day and have eaten it all ourselves. We will look for an excuse to go to Ossian about 40+ minutes away. read more
