I left this office feeling like my Dental-Cal insurance was never taken seriously. Before scheduling my appointment on July 27, I specifically called and asked whether my Dental-Cal insurance covered a root canal and crown and whether there would be any out-of-pocket charges. I wanted to know this before spending time on an appointment because I was trying to avoid unnecessary X-rays if the treatment wouldn't be fully covered and I was told yes everything was covered. After I arrived, they took a full set of X-rays and only then told me that my insurance would not cover the core buildup (foundation buildup) needed after the root canal and that I would have to pay approximately $800 out of pocket. They also began recommending a cleaning that my insurance did not cover, along with several other additional services that increased the cost. I felt this information could have been discussed before my appointment, especially since I had specifically asked about coverage beforehand. Instead, I spent time taking X-rays that I ultimately didn't need at this office. I decided to get a second opinion at UCSF Dental, where my Dental-Cal covered my treatment, including the root canal, core buildup, and crown. They also performed a thorough examination, identified cavities that were not mentioned during my visit to Heyday, and even quoted me a lower price for dental implants than what I was being asked to pay here for a single root canal procedure. Based on my experience, I would encourage anyone with Dental-Cal to carefully verify exactly what is covered before scheduling treatment. I wish I had gone to UCSF first, as it would have saved me time, unnecessary X-rays, and frustration. We came here because they take Medi-cal, but my experience was shady and subpar. They tried to get me to e-sign a fee sheet with services that my kid didn't not receive (I rejected X-rays because we had done them recently elsewhere and only needed cleaning). When I pointed it out, the lady said don't worry about it but made no move to remove the charges. It took some maneuvering before she removed several items. Then, after a few weeks I received mail from my old insurance from years ago stating that my claims for dental services had been rejected, when I never tried to claim from them. I never told Heyday that I had any other insurance, because I didn't, and did not authorize them to submit any claims. Regarding the service, the cleaning was very cursory and did not feel thorough. I'm giving 2 stars tho because the dentist spoke Chinese and was friendly. I will not return, since I don't want to end up with any unauthorized charges to me or on my behalf. We have since gone to Dublin Dentistry and Implants and had a better experience. read more

After my initial appt, everything went downhill. I scheduled for 6 cavities to be filled and when I arrived for my appointment, the Dentist said she had not had lunch and needed to pick up her kids from school. So I left with no work done. My husbands second appt the Dentist started crying when she was supposed to extract a tooth. We walked out of the office with nothing done again. Please save your time and go somewhere else. I have claims sent to my insurance carrier for services they did not provide! Since your office decided to respond lets get honest! Your dentist told us that your office doesn't go on yelp anymore because they do not pay to remove bad comments and that your office doesn't " waste their time", with that bad reviews. My wife's 6 cavities were supposed to be completed in one visit due to the size of them and the fact that she doesn't do well with Novocain. The day of the service she was told that she could not complete them due to the dentist not having lunch that day and also having to leave to pick up her children! Those are facts. Now onto me, I simply told the hygienist that the previous cleaning was below standard, because what this hygienist did was far more in-depth and complete than before. With that the dentist came into the room very upset that I had said anything to the hygienist, trying to defend what she had done before. Then she proceeded to grind into my teeth in a very aggressive way, and telling me " i am now moving from the top left to the bottom left, this is my normal movement". This continued in all four sections of my mouth. I asked her if she could please stop being passive aggressive and just, please do my work. The last thing she was supposed to do was an extraction, and the dentist could not stop talking about how upset she was that I talked about a bad service at all. I wanted to stop it all so I said I apologize for saying anything and could we please continue? The dentist lightly numbed my inside upper gum and proceeded to inject me with Novocain. When I say she was aggressive with the needle it cannot be described any other way than aggressively. The dentist was pushing the Novocain so fast into my gums that it was literally spraying onto my cheeks and onto my safety glasses. I asked her to stop, she said good because she feels like crying and we left! I was going to let this go not do anything at all, but now that I see the office likes to tell half-truths I am going to file a complaint with the ADA. read more

We had a horrible experience here with the dentist and their manager. Immoral practice and horrible customer service with unskillful practitioner who avoid works they can't profit from or simply lacks the skill set to handle. My grandmother (in her 80s) went in looking for a solution for her teeth. The dentist convinced her to pull off all of her teeth so they could make a denture for her. So my grandmother listened, then when all her teeth are gone, she came back for the denture, the dentist wasn't capable of making it for her, and referred my old grandmother to Livermore, a specialist. During the appointment at the specialist, we learned the specialist wasn't even aware of my grandmother's case and told her the generalist made a mistake so they sent my grandmother back to heyday. Now it's the forth appointment we made with heyday, they rudely (yelling at my 84 year old grandmother) refused treatment and was so irresponsible and told us to make another appointment with them if we needed to make the denture. They said it's not their responsibility to make my grandmother a denture, even though they were the ones who convinced her to pull all her teeth off. What a heartless practice, how can they treat an 80 year old lady who now doesn't have any teeth to eat? Hope karma gets them. read more

I made an appointment for my 6mo teeth cleaning with Hayday for the 1st time since my insurance has changed. Upon arrival, Heyday Dental insisted I needed a deep cleaning. They asked for $25 in order to submitting deep cleaning to my insurance. I got a call from Hayday Dental few days later that it was approved by my insurance company. They scheduled me for a deep cleaning. The young dentist took less than 10min for my 'deep cleaning'. I had deep cleaning done before. Nothing like this. My previous dentists did much much more cleaning with my 6mo routing cleaning than this 'deep cleaning'. So disappointed. Will not be going back. read more

Front desk professional and pleasant even with training a new person. The back office assistants and other staff were super helpful, fun, professional and patient. My first visit, I had 6, yes 6 cavities and replacements that was needed. This damage didn't happen overnight. Unfortunately my previous dental group never told me. For whatever reason. I'm just thankful for this office and Dr Milan! She's Awesome!! She was understanding, patient, funny, professional and informative. I told her I didn't need a deep clean (my first visit with other staff said I needed). I explained to Dr Milan why maybe the front bottom back teeth had increased in tarter. I had a permanent retainer on them for at least 8-10yrs. That explained a slight tarter build up. They're hard to clean. They weren't that horrible. It could of been way worse. The rest of my teeth were fine. She complimented me on my hygiene of my teeth. She said she could tell I take care of them. She started her care with the worse side of my mouth. The right side needed 2 cavities taken care of. So far they're the worst. Almost needing a root canals. She was very informative and told me there's still a chance a root canal is needed in the future. Way more communication I've received from the "other guys". Thank you!! read more

Today my husbands root canal cap fell off for the third time within four months of doing it, and my root canal failed within two months. Dr. Dani did both. However, my experience was the worst. The filling that is supposed to stay in the root cavity pierced a hole on the side of my gum and came out. When I went back to Dr. Dani, she took an x-ray and told me that it was not infected yet and offered no solution. I was very confused by this answer; it infuriated me, and I asked further questions on why it came out so early and how is it possible for the filling to pierce a hole in my gum unless it was placed incorrectly. Instead of offering a logical explanation, Dr. Dani blamed me by telling me that she had warned me about the "bad prognoses" of the tooth and that it was not her fault if it came off. I would have never agreed to waste my time and money if Dr. Dani had taken the time to explain the condition of my tooth in detail by pointing at the x-ray instead of using medical terminology like "bad prognoses," which I barely understood at that time. Now I have to get my tooth extracted and put an implant. After going through all this, Dr. Dani asked me, "tell me honestly, Rubina, what have you lost," I think, she was implying that my tooth was so bad that it was anyways going to fall off, and so what if it's falling after wasting your time and money on it. read more

This place is horrible so I recently went in to this place in September my wife found this place on ZocDoc had good reviews seemed promising mistake I made was not looking further into this place such as on yelp and reading reviews of past patients experience cause this place is not good I went in, in September there owner Dr Xi was the one who seen me said I had four cavities till this day still not sure if that's even true or if they lied cause if you look up past reviews of potential patients on yelp and zocdoc there's people who said they told them they had more cavities then they did and when they went elsewhere to another dentist turned out to be true they didn't have as many cavities as this place said, vary bad business practice this is why we as people lose trust in doctors for these same reasons but that's not all so when I scheduled my appointment to have my cavities done granted I was suffering from some teeth grinding issues due to stomach issues I was also fitted for a night guard by them so here's the icing on the cake when the day came to have my cavities filled guess what the owner DR Xi did to some of my teeth despite knowing I was suffering from grinding issues she goes and further grinds down some of my teeth on my right side further making things even ten times worse for me while at the same time exposing those teeth she grinded down to decay and potential cavities! Like what place does something like that to someone! I hope this business gets all the Karma it has coming to them! Also and here's one more thing when I told my wife who also had dental work here by the way they placed her bottom crowns she needed on crooked and not fitted properly I could tell when I checked myself, after the terrible experience with this place I told my wife to have them hand over our X rays so we can go someplace better guess what the reception person tried to do they tried to lie and said they couldn't give us our x rays cause there business ate the cost for the x rays, which is a lie cause they don't pay for the x rays cost the patients insurance does so when I called and demanded they handed them over then they emailed me them. Hi I don't know why you wait to respond to the review to tell me that but in the office said she doesn't have the license to prescribe anything but Motrin which I can't take. I have a kidney transplant and I have been having one since 11 yrs old. I am well aware of my health and that's my only health problem. I can definitely receive pain medication from a dentist and have. If your dentist doesn't know about kidney transplant patients they shouldn't be dentist. They should know that doesn't stop a person from having pain or receiving medication for pain. read more

First impression the office was immaculate, very modern, and organized. They had me fill out a new patient form, fine. I then had x-rays taken. Fine. Then the doctor came in, she was nice. She looked at my teeth and said that I have something like 7 - 9 cavities, that they would also need to do a deep-cleaning, and that my Medi-Cal would probably not cover for at least one of the fillings. That was not a problem. It is their treatment evaluation and recommendation. I respect this. But I asked if I could just have a regular cleaning, but they did not allow me too. They insisted on a deep cleaning that needed an pre-authorization and I would need to be numbed up for. I really just wanted a standard cleaning my teeth needed it! Then I went back to this briefing room surrounded by clear glass where I filled out the new patient form, and they showed my treatment plan. It was very detailed and I appreciated this as well. I asked the dental assistant why the one cavity would not be covered. Her reply was, "I don't know I have never had any cavities before." I thought that was not really professional. What makes me question the evaluation though, I then went to another clinic, and they said I only had 3 cavities, and were able to provide a standard cleaning. I felt like second dentist's evaluation was correct because they were able to explain the brown spots on my teeth were not cavities but indentations to the tooth from grinding. Heyday said they were cavities from the grinding, which is the opposite. It doesn't make sense I would have 7 or 8 cavities, and I felt frustrated I was not given a cleaning. read more

It seems like filling fall off are common things here. If you don't want to become a guinea pig go somewhere else. This is a long over due review for Dr. Xie. Both my son and I were seen by Dr. Xie when they first opened, they were very accommodating with our request as my son was still in school and we were concerned about COVID situation. But I have to take him to a dentist as we haven't seen one ever since Covid started and I was told he had some cavities before Covid by his previous dentist. I just want to make sure it hasn't gone worse as we were instructed not to do much. Dr. Xie was very patient explaining how is his situation and what could be done but not pushing as this is his first set of teeth, we could treat it the most conservative way. This place discriminates against its MediCal patients 100%. I went in for a regular cleaning (the fastest and least thorough cleaning I have ever had) and was told that I would need some cavities to be filled. I was told that MediCal would cover white composite fillings but I "couldn't get them" because the cavities I had were on my back molars and could only get silver fillings. I went to talk to my previous childhood dentist about this and was told that I had allergic reactions to silver in the past which is why I only got the white composite ones many years ago. I called back HeyDay dental and was told by the office manager that they get the "same MediCal payment either way" and that they would "lose money" if they gave me the white composite fillings.....I replied "well, I can't have the silver ones...I will get a rash and my throat will close up. Where does that leave us?" and he responded "We're going to have to refer you somewhere else or we will lose money." I was sent the treatment plan and saw that the difference was only 40 dollars per tooth....I think that's worth not developing a rash or pain to a filling that I am allergic to. I wish they were honest up front as to why they denied me the white composite fillings. Honestly, disgusting practice here that values its profit over its patients' SAFETY and WELLBEING. Dental care is very important to ones health and if they did not want MediCal patients they should not advertise that. read more
