An old 'estaminet' from Spanish times that was modernized about 15 years ago, this is a popular resting place for cyclists that follow the Senne to the 'Sennegat' where Dyle and Senne rivers meet the Leuvense Vaart (the canal linking Leuven with the Schelde river). Interesting detail: there is a lot of controversy about the origin of the word estaminet - a typical old type pub in Northern France and Belgium, but it's really quite simple: in Spanish times, bar owners tried to attract Spanish soldiers with a leaflet outside that spelled 'esta minetta' (there is a girl). The food is classic Flemish fare, with a strong predominance of steaks with thick creamy sauces, but there are a lot of nice starters and salads, and waffles, warm appletarts with vanilla icecream and lots of different Belgian beers. There is a terrace, and service is friendly. read more
