A special of white asperigus I had never had before was served as an appetizer with drawn butter, bred and special flemish sauce. For an entree I enjoued skewers of scampi and scallops over perfectly cooked pasta with olive oil and sprigs of veg. I was so full I skipped desert but the crem brulet looked devine. Instead I concluded with a coffee and baileys. Highly reccomend for the traveler near Brussels Airport who looks for a reasonably priced decerning meal with great wine and Belgium Beer!!

Found this restaurant close by, and it was a terrific choice. Great fresh and creatively prepared seafood. They offered a special with white asparagus prepared Flemish style. It was spectacular. Interesting detail: there is a lot of controversy about the origin of the word estaminet - a typical old type pub in Northern France and Belgium, but it's really quite simple: in Spanish times, bar owners tried to attract Spanish soldiers with a leaflet outside that spelled 'esta minetta' (there is a girl). The food is classic Flemish fare, with a strong predominance of steaks with thick creamy sauces, but there are a lot of nice starters and salads, and waffles, warm appletarts with vanilla icecream and lots of different Belgian beers. This is very deceiving however. The food is excellent. I ordered tacos, which were the regular taco shells but tasted so different and very good. It came with a small, very small salad and a side bowl of chili peppers, along with some taco topping and sour cream. They have a very extensive drinks menu as well as a food menu. The lasagne and spaghetti also looked very interesting, although didn't get to taste them. The place appears to be very popular. Got there early afternoon and most of the tables already had "reserved" signs on them. There is also seating out in front and the weather was nice, so that was full. Overall, a nice comfortable place with waiters who speak English and are very polite and accommodating. Recommended.
