I came to this restaurant a couple of times as it was attached to Hotel Twenty-Eight which I stayed at for over a month. So this review is a combination of all those visits and overall I really enjoyed the food and service.
On my first visit, I ordered the fish soup & fries. I really enjoyed the soup, but honestly had been expecting more of it, as it was a fairly small cup. The accompanying butter was super delish, but I wish the bread had been warmed up, rather than being served cool to the touch. Along with the soup, there was this creamy accompaniment, but I would skip this as it made the soup super salty. My fries were excellently crisp - I dont know what mayo they use, but I ate up, and I am most definitely not a mayo and chips kinda gal!
On my 2nd visit, I ordered just dessert and fries (it had been that sort of a day at work and I needed comfort, so fat/ sugar/ salt/ sweet hit the bill). My dessert ice-cream was excellent, but frankly wasn't happy by the fries - majority of them were burnt, but didn't realize this as had taken the food back to my room and then after changing into my PJ's just didn't want to go back to the restaurant.
I came back again for a 3rd time with a work colleague on a Friday evening - we both fancied a girls night out sort of evening and this restaurant had short availability, so done deal. We decided to get the Chef's 3-course tasting menu and for me, the stand-out was the entree course. Everything on the starter menu was so delicious - esp the salmon entrees. My main was the fish, but honestly it was eh. The seasoning on the fish was very uneven and I didn't think the sauce really complimented the dish. Finally, it was dessert time, but both me and my dining companions thought this was the weakest course. Our cake was dry, the creme brulee was runny and the only thing we both liked were the macaroons! End conclusion? for € 37 the tasting menu was a really good price, but with the hits and misses, something a la carte might have equally worked out as well!
