Next time, save everyone the time, and just let your secretary know. Considering Lowe's only charges $750, I assume ABE is trying to take advantage of some of this new money coming in. Good for y'all. I have 25 windows and 4 doors to install and replace, casually overcharging me without description of service or even a small sales demonstration has sent me in the direction of your competition. You don't need a salesman for this, save yourselves the money. If you're priced over Lowe's, I dare say you are gouging. Good luck ABE.

So that 5-star Google review you see out there may not actually be so 5-star a company. A.B.E. replaced a storm door for me a while back. Everything went great that time. Professional. I don't remember there being an exceptionally long wait. No problems with the door. So May 2019 I went ahead & decided to have them replace a fire-rated door leading from my garage into my foyer. WHIRLWIND SPEED in providing an estimate. I signed their contract, put my 1/3rd down, but they were scheduling 4 months out which would've landed me at mid-September for that 1 door. Waits like this are customary with A.B.E. If you're getting full-house window/door replacements, I'm sure they speed it up a bit because that's where they make the big $. But just 1 door? Get ready to stand in line. I did complain about a month into the contract & truly do believe they would have waived their 'cancellation' fee, but I was told then that I'd actually been moved up on the schedule to mid-August. So I decided to hold on a little longer. Mid-October? Still no door. No updates. Nothing. Nothing other than the contract I had signed back in May. The door was finally installed not long after I complained & reviewed them on Google. I remember the installer wanting to schedule me on a rainy day that week. I guess they really need those sunny days for their full-house window/door replacements, which would explain the long waits for customers like me. Backing up a bit here... Besides replacing that door, they were to replace some weatherstripping for me on 2 other doors. Tom S., presumably the owner, had told me the weatherstripping had actually been installed backwards by my builder. The men who came out, however, told me that wasn't the case. I don't know who to believe. All I know is I was charged something for this work & never received any refund from them. They also were to adjust the locks on my front door. I specifically told the 2 men NOT to touch any locks on my dining room patio door as it was the only door with which I was not having any problems. They went ahead & moved the deadbolt's strike plate in a bit anyway while I was outside & unaware. Had some problems with the locks after that. Scratched a few of my knobs up too. I brought this all to their attention, sent pictures, & I believe they would have replaced the knobs at the time (no charge), but I was too weary at that point & just wanted to move into my new home. So I let the scratched knobs slide. They did lubricate the locks for me, but I was still having some problems & very nervous about the adjustments that had been made to that patio door's locks. Trouble locking/unlocking. I wasn't completely moved into the house until Thanksgiving of 2020, so that particular door really didn't get too much use. Not too long after I moved in, however, I came downstairs after a nap to find the patio door had blown wide open & dented the trim. I needed a storm door anyway, so I decided to wait until spring to have them readjust the locks. Why would I look to them to install a storm door for me after all of this? Because I truly liked the Provia storm door & could only get one from an authorized dealer. I called early spring of 2021 & asked them to give me some estimates on 2 storm doors. I believe I was told a 3-month wait. I also wanted them to address the locks on that one door they should have never even touched. Tom came out & pointed out to me that the patio door was now bowed in. It was. So now I have to get the interior door replaced too before any storm door is installed. He tried to blame it on the type of door. Fiberglass or wood, he said. He actually stood there & looked at the deadbolt's strike plate, the indentation of where it originally was located clearly visible, & tried to convince me that the deadbolt's strike plate hadn't been touched. I flipped. I knew the door had blown open because they had messed with those locks. I asked him if he could put this on his insurance. No. I called my insurance company, & though wind damage was covered, I was responsible for the deductible & would be charged a $60/year premium increase for up to 7 years. Also, I would have to dispute the pitiful amount they were planning to give me to replace the door. I waited for any estimates from A.B.E. this time. They evidently were worried that my insurance company would pin this on them. Of course, my insurance company couldn't prove responsibility one way or another, so I get to soak up the cost. I finally called A.B.E. inquiring about when to expect the estimates. In the interim, I'd been moved to the back of the line & was now looking at a 4-month wait...until they kicked me to the curb altogether. In fact, they tell me now that they've no record of ever installing a storm door for me, no model #, nothing...even though Tom had the info with him when he was here.

About 4-6 weeks later, Blake contacted me and scheduled for installation. Robert and his team did an excellent job installing the windows. I had a total of 11 windows installed on the first floor of my property in Nov 2023. They completed the job in 1 and half days. It could have been done in one day but the sunset in November didn't allow. Some of the pictures of the completed job are shown below. I don't have the before pictures but trust me, there's a huge difference. I will have them come back to complete the second floor in the first quarter of 2024. Thank you!!

The windows and door all look great and are a huge improvement over what was there previously. Robert was incredibly helpful with figuring out what I needed and answering tons of questions for me (as I evaluated ten companies and rated them all to determine who was the best one for the job). Smart Shield came out on top and did a great job! The installation guys were all incredibly nice and polite, especially Steve and Jimmy who came back on Saturday to finish after storms on Friday kept them from completing the job that day. I am incredibly happy with my new windows which are all clear and open and shut so easily that I have to remind myself not to push them too hard. My neighbors were so impressed with the job they did (and my spreadsheet evaluation) that they hired Smart Shield to do their windows as well. I highly recommend these guys!
