Sadly, although I had high expectations, visiting University Park Endodontics was one of the worst…read moredental office experiences I've had in some time. Dr. Kong seemed competent and personable, but also displayed a bit of youthful overeagerness. Although Dr Kong may be passionate about his work, it may be wise to also be a bit more empathetic to the fact that these procedures can be very costly and daunting for patients. The biggest disappointment though were the office staff! The person handling the billing seemed paticularly incompetent. Despite having been provided all insurance information, including contact info, policy info, and fee schedule, several weeks prior to the scheduled appointment, on the day of appointment this person claimed to not have been able to verify or confirm any of the insurance info and demanded the full, noninsurance cash price for treatment. Keep in mind that the insurance company is one of the major insurers in the area, not some no-name, off-brand insurance company. How is it even possible to not be able to verify insurance information when you've had up to two months to do so, or to not even bother to let the patient know there was an issue? Truly disappointing! Even more problematic were the sanitary practices used by the person operating the CT scan. Although this person wore gloves, she used a keyboard to control the scanner, and then would literally stick her fingers into my mouth to adjust the teeth positioner, and then go back to the keyboard. This was repeated several times, but I saw no evidence that the keyboard was sanitized between patients! WTF?? This is not good! In hindsight I should have immediately addressed my concern, as I now have real fears as to what bacteria or virus I may have been exposed to! At the very least a peroxide rinse should have been offered. Again, Dr. Kong seems competent, but the competency of his staff is dubious at best. Buyer beware!

My regular dentist suggested seeing another endodontic specialist outside of this office. Sure enough, I did need a root canal. Never going back.

Later my therapist told me she went to a dentist who told her she would lose all her teeth if she didn't do scaling. She went back to her old dentist in Pasadena CA he told her it was not true they just wanted her money. She referred me to that dentist he was fair never asked for anything extra and was Always upfront with all cost. I needed an alignment after moving to KC was referred to Dentures plus. The staff gave alignment had me sign no warranty or money back right before getting alignment. I asked about regular cleaning I was told they absolutely could not do a cleaning without my dental records from CA I paid to have them sent . It turns out they meant scaling which I had not decided I wanted yet. I feel they wanted money. I may need the scaling but I didn't wish to be pushed into it and the regular cleaning wasn't even an option. Now I need to have a tooth looked at but I'm afraid to go back to them. Are there any dentists out there that are fair and not only interested in money?

If you're thinking about going to Oral & Facial Associates, I strongly recommend you take a minute…read moreand read this, because my experience with their practice administrator, Christy Loudermill, was one of the most frustrating and unprofessional encounters I've ever had in a medical setting. I went into this office with a confirmed price -- written, verified, and repeated back to me. I did everything right on my end so there would be no surprises. Unfortunately, the surprise came anyway, and it came in the form of a completely different, significantly higher bill. When I reached out for clarification, Christy Loudermill, who I was told was the "billing manager" (which already confused me, considering her title is practice administrator), handled the situation in a way that was honestly shocking to me. Her response came off cold, dismissive, and completely uninterested in the fact that their mistake had real consequences for me. Instead of taking ownership or offering real help, the explanation was basically a quick brush-off labeled as "human error," as if that magically excused everything. What made it worse was the tone -- like I was the inconvenience for asking why I was suddenly expected to pay far more than what Christy herself had confirmed. There was no sense of accountability, no recognition of the office's own miscommunication, and absolutely zero acknowledgment of the impact this caused. The entire situation left me feeling like accuracy and transparency simply weren't priorities for her. And the fact that someone in the office even referred to her as the "billing manager" just added to the mess. When the people working there can't even get titles straight, it says a lot about how disorganized things are behind the scenes. My opinion? If this is how the practice administrator handles problems -- with confusion, deflection, and an attitude that the patient should just swallow the difference -- then the rest of the office is likely following the same example. This review is based entirely on my experience, but I feel strongly enough about it to warn others. You deserve a medical office that honors its own quotes, communicates clearly, and treats patients with respect -- especially when the mistake is on their end. I won't be returning. And I hope this helps someone else avoid the headache, the runaround, and the dismissiveness I dealt with from Christy Loudermill at Oral & Facial Associates

Any time I needed to call them, had to call multiple times due to no one answering phone. On day of procedure before starting, discussed an impacted tooth and that they could expose and move said tooth since they were already in his mouth. They never said it would have an additional charge until after the procedure was done then said they would advise of amount after sending to insurance. 1.5 weeks later I get a bill for nearly $1,300.00 which was more than I paid for the 4 wisdom teeth to be removed. They refused to discount the additional charges, which were not covered by insurance. They only supplied a little gauze for after care. Other surgeon offices provide enough gauze for full aftercare as well as ice packs. I was treated as if this place only wants your money, they do not care about the patient or treating people like human beings. They also switched the location from where I made the appointment, but no one told me this until the day before when they called to go over what to do before coming in.
