Avis - Damage on the tire wall (photo taken at time of pick up).

Do not rent from this location, it's a rip off. Several red flags…read more 1. Lots of damage on the car, including the front right tire being very worn but was told not to worry about it and I'd been upgraded so this was the car I was having. 2. The car only last an hour and a half before breaking down. Catastrophic failure of the engine on the freeway leaving me stranded for five hours while Avis sorted it out. This rental location was no help at all during this. Side note; the guy at the rental location seemed very keen to make sure I knew the roadside assistance number. Showed it to me at least three times. A conspiracy theorist might say he knew the car was on the way out. Painful. 3. The car did not include a full tank of gas. Was given some story about being unable to fill it up that day so to just bring it back at roughly the same level and there would be no issues (I have rented regularly from Avis for over a decade and never heard of this before). Had the car ever made it back to Rome I am imagining I would have experienced the same as others on excess refuelling charges. 4. We arrived at 8.45am and it said it was closed, even though the opening time is listed as 8.30am. We waited there until 9.10am when a guy who had been standing just down the street the whole time walked over and opened it up. Made no sense. Ultimately, and along with the other reviews of this location, cannot recommend this Avis. It's chaotic and feels dodgy. Get a cab to the airport and suck up the location fees; you'll save yourself a lot of hassle, money, and time. No doubt there will be a response from the location with a list of excuses. My experience stands as terrible and not what we expect when renting from Avis.

They tried to add on the full insurance package (an extra €300) even though I had clearly not included this when I booked it online. Didn't even have a full tank of gas. Total mess of an experience and felt very suspect.

Our experience with Rome In Limo was outstanding from start to finish. Jany was straightforward,…read morehonest, and incredibly helpful in planning our private tour of Rome during our cruise stop. She warned us about possible last-minute changes when booking tours through some third-party platforms and recommended a reliable ticket broker for our Vatican Museums and Colosseum tickets in case we were unable to get the tickets ourselves. That advice was extremely helpful. Another huge advantage was that Rome In Limo is licensed to enter the tender area at the Port of Civitavecchia. Our driver, Alberto, was waiting with a sign with my name literally about 50 feet from the ship! With some other companies, you may have to make your way outside the port to meet your driver, which can be a hassle. Alberto was prompt, super friendly, and went above and beyond for us. We were having trouble communicating with the operator of a buggy tour we wanted to arrange at our next stop in Ajaccio, Corsica. Alberto stepped in, spoke with the operator in Italian, and helped us get everything sorted out. We really appreciated him doing that for us! Our guides for the Roman Forum/Colosseum and the Vatican Museums were both excellent. Our Colosseum guide took us through a less-crowded entrance where there was literally no one in front of us. Alberto also handled all of our drop-offs and pickups perfectly. At the Vatican, having a guide allowed us to use the direct passage from the Vatican Museums to St. Peter's Basilica, avoiding another long line outside. It was a long and very hot day, but everything went incredibly smoothly and efficiently. There was even a road closure due to a fire on our way back to the ship, but Alberto was communicating with his network to find the best detour and still got us back to the port with plenty of time to spare. We were able to see and experience so much of Rome in the limited time we had in port. Great planning, excellent guides, and outstanding service from Alberto. We couldn't have asked for a better family experience in Rome!

We used this service for the transfer to and from the airport as well as short hops to the train station, the Vatican, and the catacombs. They are punctual and communicate about your upcoming rides so you don't have to wonder if they are going to remember to pick you up. Drivers are friendly and helpful. I wish I could give more stars.
