We originally rented through Price Line.
Upon our arrival at Hertz we were told that no upgrades were possible because the reservation was through Price Line, however he offered many other changes much of the same we asked about, just different verb age.
Over and over we refused insurance because we are plenty covered, but agreed to pay the gas fee in the event we didnt fill the tank, signed the contract to this effect and went on our way.
Upon receipt of our invoice once the credit card bill arrived, wouldnt you know it, $50 more then the agreed amount. Upon further investigation, was told that since I had signed for the Fuel charge I also signed for $9 a day Insurance coverage..
You cant tell me the Hertz associate didnt know we clearly did not want insurance.
Yes, as a rule, Read ALL fine print, however, the way they try to rush you around and mix words, you clearly think that what is presented is what you are signing for and expecting to pay for, not the fine print hidden in a Fuel Contract..
Beware of that!!
Unfortunately, I disposed of the original rental agreement, but now that I have been given "copies", it is quite obvious, this so called Loss/Damage Waiver that I accepted, was not in the original agreement!
We will certainly be more cautious and will "KEEP" all records of signed agreement and will NOT be signing anything on the Veri sign pad where you cant see what you are supposedly agreeing to! read more
