Extremely poor customer service. I was charged a 'minimum' fee, however as per Corporate - there is no minimum charge. The vehicle my insurance company approved was not provided - ("This one is cheaper" and no options were offered.) I believe they ran a credit check without informing me, even though the corporate information states this is solely done if paying with a debit card. I have to say I have never been treated in such a dismissive fashion by any company. I will not be back, and I have been very clear with my insurance company that practically insisted I use Hertz. According to State Farm, this place is open on Saturdays. According to here, Google and Hertz own website, this location is open on Saturdays! My car was totaled (not Hertz's fault, I know), State Farm says they use Hertz and says where to go--awesome, only 3 or 4 miles away--they set up the reservation and everything. Go to the location--THEY'RE CLOSED! At 10am on a Saturday. I call Hertz, after 20 minutes with their stupid voice system, I finally get a live person who informs me that yes, that location is NOT open on Saturday, but that I can drive 45 minutes further away and to the Hanover, PA location and get a car. So, not only do I waste gas because I have to drive it from PA back home, but time with 2 sick kids so that I can get a freaking rental car. Only nice thing: The employee was very nice and the car was clean, but that was the Hanover, PA location, not Westminster. read more

When I tried to schedule an appointment for Monday morning, I was told that only one person worked there and Monday's were the busiest time - and consequently, they were booked. Well, duh, Hertz. Then hire another person to work Monday mornings. I had to take time off of work to go get the rental. The car was not the cleanest - it should have been cleaner. There was gunk by the gear shift and the windows were dirty, making it hard to see with the sun glare. The wipers were old and barely worked... so when it rained it just smeared the grime on the windscreen and it was dangerous. When I picked up the car the guy at the front desk was less than enthusiastic to be there. The actual office looked like a mental patient decorated it. I did like the fact that I just dropped the car off at the body shop and they picked it up for me. So I gave them an extra star for that. read more

I rented a car from this location recently and was totally deceived. The car was waiting for me when I arrived and just happened to be a small SUV, I had no problem with that. I just wanted to complete the required paperwork and get back to work. When I returned the car 6 weeks later I was charged over 1200.00 dollars. Devin told me that my insurance did not cover the car after 1/26/18(which I was not aware of because my car sat at the body shop for two weeks waiting for parts to arrive) I also over heard him tell Jordan (Area Mgr) that the rental was extended on 2/7/18. I did not request an extension, I was not informed that the insurance would not pay after 1/26/18, I was not told that the cost of the SUV was more expensive than a smaller car, I did not receive a call from Hertz informing me of anything after. I told Devin and Jordan that I did not request an SUV, all I needed was a vehicle to get to and from work. To put me an a more expensive vehicle without informing me of the increased rate was unfair to say the least. Jordan stated that he would look over the situation and call me back within the few hours, that was 3 days ago. I would never use or recommend this location. BIZARRE and HORRIBLE customer service from Western Maryland District Manager Jordan Jacob. I reserved a compact for Friday evening through early Monday morning. Gabriel, Hertz employee from the Buckeystown Pike Frederick location, was covering for Westminster. He said all that's available is a van or SUV. He offered the van at no extra cost. I agreed to it. He made a call on speaker to District Manager Jordan Jacob who's also based at the Frederick location and manages Westminster and Hagerstown too. I listened quietly. Gabriel told Jordan he's giving me the van at no extra cost. Jordan, not knowing he's on speaker, told Gabriel "you could get fired for that," the van is supposed to rent at $100 a day. Jordan checked and confirmed I had a reservation and sounding frustrated and annoyed told Gabriel to upsell the van for an extra $50 per day and "just get her out of there." I was STUNNED. I stayed quiet to see what else he'd say but Gabriel took the call off speaker. I think he put the call on speaker because he reasonably thought giving me the upgrade for no extra cost wouldn't be an issue given the situation (that's what's normally done by other companies) and was trying his best to give quality service, unlike Jordan. I didn't rent anything and my weekend plans were ruined. But Jordan had nerve to speak like my situation was an inconvenience to him when THEY messed up! I guess Jordan prefers to have the van sit at Hertz all weekend. read more

I rented a SUV from Thursday to the following Tuesday to travel to Florida. I made reservation online and prepaid with no problem. Picked up the car Thursday and started my travels to Florida. On the way down, I got a call from an employee from Hertz and asked if I could get an oil change in the vehicle because it was due and they didnt realize it. FAIL#1!! Got to FL with no problems, had no problems while in FL, then on the way home from NC to MD, I had no heat or defrost. It just stopped working. Travel conditions were horrible..rain, fog, and I had to wipe the windshield every 30 just to see. FAIL#2 Once I got into VA, I called MULTIPLE Hertz offices from VA to MD to switch out the vehicle and NOT ONE of them had a vehicle they could give me except for an economy size which would not work and they didnt offer any other suggestions. I even drove to a Hertz that was on my Google maps 23 mins out of my way to find the place no longer exsists!!! FAIL#3. When I finally made it home and dropped off the car, the employee advised that he could not reimburse me for my troubles because I pre-paid, that I would have to call Customer Service. Called Customer Service, was told the same thing and was advised that some from Customer Relations would get in contact with me within 7-10 days!! FAIL#4 This rating doesn't just apply to the Westminster location, but Hertz in general! !!! HORRIBLE!!! This was my first experience with using them and my last.
