I do NOT recommend this location. They will let you reserve a car online, but will not have anything available during your designated pick-up time. I arrived at 11 (the time I chose online to pick up a medium size sedan) to let them know I was there for a pick up, WHICH I PREPAID ONLINE, the employee then told me they were out of cars and the only thing he had available was a mini van. A customer behind me in line was returning a car, (the same as I pre paid for online) but instead they let him extend his rental. I reserved a car Thursday about 5 PM for the next day pick up at 9 AM for my son who is 24. We knew there would be an up charge because between 20 and 24 there was we get there he put it on his debit card they authorize &503 for the rental plus $500 deposit since it's a debit card. Inside the location, there's a paper saying at this location. You have to reserve within 24 hours if using a debit card. So physically they swipe and take out $1003 or put it on hold and then after we get almost get the keys the manager comes in and says no you can't do that because it has to be 24 hours from when you reserved so he says well did you take the money and he says no they just tapped it but once you tap it, the money leaves your account and it's on hold until you send in the final receipt that could be up to seven days. Highly unprofessional "manager" lady. I called her as a courtesy to let her know I'm on my way and stuck in traffic but I'll still be there before closing time which ig is 5pm (even though my booking pick up time was at 5pm??). She mentioned customers must arrive 20 minutes before for paperwork even though I already had done everything online. Why was my booking set for 5pm then? Just make your last booking at 4:30. Still I requested her to please accommodate me, given my long drive and having rented from them repeatedly in the past. The lady on the phone kept repeating the same generic rules and told me they are shutting down and I won't be able to pick up my rental booking and then rudely ended the call before even responding to me asking for instructions on how to get a refund. I ended up having to drive to Stockton's Enterprise where the customer service was stellar and the kind employee made something work for me given my time constraints, working past her scheduled shift, she even upgraded me from a sedan to a jeep and made someone wash it asap for me. Arrived 8:57 AM. Car was not ready was informed car traveling to this office and was 30 minutes away. I had appointments in San Francisco starting 10:30 AM. More than hour later still no vehicle. It took another 30 minutes for the only other employee to clean it! I've never been to a car rental company that didn't have my car already cleaned when I come at the reservation time. TERRIBLE customer support ... Will NEVER rent again from Hertz! The above is a summary and here are the details if you are curious. Rented a car from Hertz on Monday July 1st for two days, Had booked it through Priceline. The total cost was about $87. On Wednesday (due date for the return) called Hertz to extend it for another day. The customer service told me they are closed on July 4th and I cannot extend only for one day but it has to be for two days, although I do not need the car. No other option was provided Eventually, I said screw it, extend it for two days and they told me the extra charge (for only two days) is $189 which is more than 2x what I had booked for the first two days. Did another reservation on Priceline for the same pickup location and the same car type. It was only $77 compared to $189 I was told for an extension. Called customer service again asking if I can transfer my contract from the existing one to the new one once my current one expires. The customer service said no, it is our policy. You have to return the car, in person sign the paper work for the next contract and then pick up the same exact car. Asked if it makes sense and she said "does not look like, but the system does not allow us". So ended up paying ~2.5x of what I should have and is available on their web-site. I have never experienced such poor customer service repeatedly like Hertz Rental car at 115 W Larch Road, Tracy CA. I have had multiple incidents at this location that left me in disbelief. I will share the last two experiences as they were so disappointing, to say the least. On July 20, 2024, I rented a car and was given one with a tire that was going to blow at any moment. As I drive off the lot, the drive was bumpy, but did not think much of it, due to the poor road conditions. The moment on the highway and accelerated speed the steering wheel shook vigorously, thankfully I made it home safely. Once at home, the tires were checked to discover the bubbles and splits in the tire. I immediately called the office direct numerous times, no answer, so I called the 800 number, and was on hold for over 45 minutes. I explained the situation to the rep, and she was no help, and did not offer any type of support at all. I asked to be transferred to roadside assistance and encountered yet another rep lacking proper customer service, support or resolution. I was told to take the car to a shop to repair the tire, I said no, then I requested roadside to come to my house to change the tire. The rep stated I would have to pay for it out of pocket because it was past one hour. This was absolutely ridiculous! I took a risk and drove back to the Tracy location to have another disappointing encounter with Helder. The car obviously was not inspected, but he stated otherwise. It was swapped for another car, which was stable, however I loss three hours of my planned day, due to this unfortunate event. It jacked up my day but made the best of it. I was offered a $40 voucher, which I hesitated to accept, but did reluctantly. With that, I had put $19 worth of gas in the faulty car, so the voucher really is worth $21 after the deduction for gas. The lack of empathy for a customer (me) is simply unbelievable. I was put endanger once the car was released, putting me in jeopardy to have an accident or worse with a blowout at an elevated speed. Then, I decided against my better judgment and reserved another car on August 7, 2024. I arrived to found out the Tracy location did not have inventory. I did not receive a call to inform me of this, which left me with no words. I was told the customers were called, I disputed the claim and informed the rep that didn't happen because I was not called, she then changed to say, "her manager tried to call as many customers as possible." I chose convenience as this place is close to the job, but never again. I'm frustrated! I'm perplexed! I'm disappointed! I'm Done! This is not the way to conduct business, and they don't care, and it shows. Even with unpleasant experiences, people will keep renting from this place, until they don't. This place needs a management overhaul. I rented a vehicle online and it wasn't ready at the set pick up time. I waited for a hour and was given a vehicle that smelled of smoke. The service rep tried to convince me that it didn't smell like smoke, but we all know what smoke smells like. Reluctantly, I brought the vehicle home because I was already late due to their disorganization. Sure enough, my four children were sick because of the smoke smell. I swapped out the vehicle the next day only to find out they had two separate rental contracts for the same vehicle and they never canceled one. They told me nothing could be done, so I needed to call customer relations line to get it resolved. After explaining my issues to the management in person, I was given flippant excuses. I return the vehicle, they tried to charge me a gas charge even with a full tank. It took another 45 minutes to resolve the error and the bill still had a five cent tab. Obviously, it has nothing to do with the five cents, but it shows how disorganized and poorly managed this location is. One positive is the new girl working the front. She's genuinely kind and very thorough. She went above and beyond to assist me with the errors. This place needs to reassess the management and train everyone up to higher standard. TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE! DO NOT COME HERE! Save yourself the energy. I rented here and the first red flag should've been the fact they didn't offer a walk through prior to me getting the rental. I initiated one and everything was good to go. I ended up extending an extra day which I paid upfront online. When I came to return my rental, that's when everything went downhill. The manager (Helder Freitas) tried to tell me I had a balance of 196 dollars due to the extra day. I showed him that I paid and he said, "I'm not sure what that is, but on my end it shows a balance." We went back and forth for a good five minutes until he switches his tune and says I see the mistake and basically told me that I did pay (which I already knew). We did another walkthrough and everything was good to go. Wrong! I get a notice in the mail two month after returning the car stating there was damage to the car and I owed a total of 568. First off, I had full coverage, secondly, I had proof that there were no damages. I call Hertz and the manager tells me they can no longer assist because they submitted the claim elsewhere. I called the number by the way, every day until I was able to get a hold of someone (two weeks later). Going back and forth with this location was pointless. Anyways, I told the gentleman I spoke with I have proof and I'll take them to court to show that I did not damage the car. I emailed the pictures, videos, and confirmation from hertz that the car was good to go when I returned it. He closed out the claim and apologized. I got rear ended in my personal car and the guys insurance said they would provide a rental car through Hertz. Didn't think anything of it, They made the reservation and told me to call Hertz to set up a time to pick up the car. I spoke to a very polite lady who told me they could have the car at the body shop (caliber collision) before my time to drop off my car (1pm). Great, I think everything is going to go smoothly. My car ended up being involved in another accident that morning I was supposed to drop it off at the body shop, But this time uninsured and also no fault of my own... The body shop asks me if I have a rental car and I tell her Hertz was supposed to drop one off, They didn't. So she calls to let them know they have a customer waiting. I debate if I should pay for the new new damages myself or go through my insurance for about 5 minutes before I decide to file a claim on my insurance for the new new damage. When I finish filing my claim and get a claim number I get back in line and a guy in a reflective vest comes in and says he's from hertz dropping off a car for a customer and hands the key to the lady behind the desk, and she points to me saying "its for him". He goes outside and I'm still in line as the lady checks in the people in front of me who are dropping off their car... Then when it's my turn I go up to inform her I filed through my insurance for the new new damages to be covered and I have some things to fill out now, The guy from hertz emerges and gets the key back and asks if I need a ride to Hertz I said "I thought a car was just being dropped off for me"... He says something like "kay" and goes in the car (silver nissan suv thingy) and I guess I'm getting a ride to hertz now. Not a problem... About 3-5 minutes in to signing things I notice the insurance provider on the estimate is the persons who hit me before, I need to correct this since it's my insurance (geico) who will be fixing the new new damage... So I have to sign more things after she re-writes the estimate. By this point the Nissan has pulled up to the door and honks... The person i'm dealing with behind the counter mentions he's being strangely pushy. 2 minutes later the Nissan floors it out of the parking lot, The guys outside all yell and wave their arms as to indicate "wtf". The person behind the desk says she's going to call the manager at hertz and get one of their guys to give me a ride to get a rental car. I get the ride and show up at Hertz, The older lady behind the desk is very nice and pleasant and says "oh we were just talking about you, we sent someone to pick you up" and I say "Yeah, I guess he couldn't wait any longer". Then the guy pops up from behind the door angry saying something like "I asked you if you I was there to give you a ride, dont lie"... I'm tired, having only got about 2.5 hours of sleep and I'm frustrated having been in 2 accidents in my brand new car in a week thinking I'm going to have to go back to small claims court for the 2nd time this year to recoup another loss so I'm not up for a confrontation... So I just shake my head and say "okay"... The lady snaps "Elijah!" and apologizes to me. I get the key and go out to a Chevy Spark. I don't mind such a bad little car, But it smells of old coffee and the oil change indicator light is on which is also a little annoyance. Seeing these other reviews and my bad experience, I can see why Hertz went bankrupt and won't be surprised or saddened if this location shuts down, Hopefully the sweet older lady there finds a better place to work. Issue is told 45 minutes to get a full charge. Try one and half plus. I had a one way rental Tracy to LA. Picked up at 2:15 got home at 10:30. This car sucks which is beside the point. The point is office closes for lunch. Office had 4 people waiting in line. Clerk waited to park one car while a tow truck unloaded a car with the office full. Wasted ten minutes while he was outside. Helper in Hertz clothes did nothing, not sure of his job. Back to the point, they knew I was a one way to LA and gave no information for non Tesla charging which is almost nonexistent on the 5. Missed a family event due to this BS. This rental place is really bad. Going to return the car in about half an hour. Going to be fun seeing how Hertz responds. The misrepresentation cost me time that I will never get back. One positive on the 5 was I was not in danger of a speeding ticket could not even maintain the speed limit with POS Bolt in order to get to a charging station. I will not be renting from Hertz again. We reserved a car the day before with my husband's debit card on file, but then when we showed up at our appointment, we were told that they would not allow us to use his debit card with less than 24 hours notice, that they needed a credit card instead, which we don't have, and they wouldn't take a number over the phone so I had to have my mom drive out to use her card, and then they insisted on putting the rental under her insurance, even though she would not be driving. All of this was very stressful and frustrating, however, the biggest issue was that the woman working here, Sandy, was very rude and unhelpful, and did not seem to care that the company's policies were causing massive inconvenience. I can look past some stupid policies here and there, however, if your employees can't even be remotely polite about it, that's a dealbreaker for me. Took over an hour just to get our rental, told us they are cleaning it, when it came out, still had bird crap all over the front. They didn't bother coming out to check if there were any dents or scratches to note, we had to take a picture of it on our own for proof there was already a dent. The thing that really got me was when I asked for a birthday discount, he said, well it's next week, we can see next week. Kind of stupid if I wasn't planning to rent the car all the way until my bday. I had to get a rental because my car needed to go to the shop, so I did not even plan on keeping the rental until my bday. So stupid, would never go back. I've been a Hertz customer for the past 15 years and this is the first time I've been disappointed by their service. Got the car I reserved in a timely manner. Though, they didn't do the usual walk through with me. No big deal, I assumed it was due to Covid. Probably a process change. Packed up the family for our trip to LA. On our way out, my daughter discovered a screeching sound upon opening the rear right passenger door. Can you believe it, there was body damage to the car where the two doors on the right meet. Not wanting to have to be accused for the damage drove the car all the way back to Hertz to tell them about the issue. Took Kathy from Hertz almost 15 minutes to assess the issue. She almost had this tone (hinting that I could have caused the damage) that their cars never go out damaged as when the cars are washed, it is thoroughly inspected. Luckily, the pictures proved that the damage was there prior to me taking possession of the car. Hertz agreed to switch out my rental with a different car. But before they could do this, Kathy informed me that I would need to fill the tank up or be charged with the re-fueling fee. I almost lost it at this point. I said are you insane? For one, you've already inconvenienced my trip by having to go back and forth with this issue. My family and I were already 45 minutes behind schedule. Kathy kept insisting that this was not her policy but the company's. I was infuriated by the situation. Not wanting to delay my trip any longer, went around the corner and filled up the tank. This is why Hertz is in the sh*tters (recently filed for bankruptcy). They don't have a clue on how to provide good customer service. If I order a hamburger from "In N Out" and it is incorrectly made. They go out of their way to not only make sure they cook me another burger but also ask me if they could give me a side of fries for the inconvenience. That's good customer service and will guarantee customer loyalty. They don't first ask that I pay them the portion of the burger that I chewed off before finding out that it was incorrectly cooked. It was their mistake and they owned up to the issue. Learn from them, Hertz. Even though I've been a Hertz customer for 15 years, this will be the last time I set foot to any of their establishments. I don't even care if the competitor charges a higher premium. By the way, the cost of the fill up was $2.73. Hertz nickel and diming has cost them a very loyal customer. read more

You can't make everyone happy unfortunately. Everyone feels the need to complain about this or that. But we are! No one wants to Yelp about a business of any kind unless it's a negative review these days SMH! Thank you Jessica and staff for getting us a car within the hour! Car is clean for the most part Smells of cigarettes when you turn on the ac, but you have to be an adult in order to rent a car and it's posted all over the car- NO SMOKING but some people just don't follow simple rules. After reading all the negative comments about this location, I have to admit we were a little apprehensive about how our experience was going to turn out. BUT we're happy and in a car which she promised!! Being a direct repair shop for AAA and also having to take care of the hertz part of it as well as retail hertz customers all at the same time I understand all to well what they have to go through. If I could leave 0 stars I would. The absolute worst experience. I had a reservation with this location and they agreed to shuttle me from caliber collision to their location OR leave a vehicle at Caliber for the time of my appointment. My appointment time was 1:00pm and at 2:00pm I was still waiting for a ride. Caliber collision called on my behalf to let them know they had a customer waiting and they said they would send someone right over. Another 15 minutes passed and I called them. I spoke with the supervisor Jessica (as she stated) and she commenced to telling me that it would be another 25 minutes and they wouldn't send anyone until they had my credit card info. WOW. Why didn't you say that when Caliber called on my behalf? I cancelled and went to Enterprise and Enterprise was WONDERFUL. THANK YOU ENTERPRISE!! Hertz definitely lived up to the name, that hurt. Lol... GOOD LUCK If you opt to patronize this location. My recommendation: DON'T. I usually don't leave bad reviews but I hate to have my time wasted. It's the only thing in life we can't get back. read more
