    A week ago I actually stepped in to their offices on Larch Road in Tracy. I set up 2 reservations and 1 request for special American made car. My reservation was for Friday June 23rd at 9AM . Arrived 8:57 AM. Car was not ready was informed car traveling to this office and was 30 minutes away. I had appointments in San Francisco starting 10:30 AM. More than hour later still no vehicle. Hertz has truly fallen from the heights at one time the leader in car rentals. Very unprofessional and inefficient. This is no way to run a business and to treat loyal longtime customers. Presidents circle.

    Clearly showing two options for the "managers special" I booked the one with the check mark.

    BEWARE!!!! The managers special. You book under the pretenses that you are getting a gas vehicle at random since they have TWO options listed for the managers special. One electric managers special, one gas managers special. When you arrive they tell you it's an electric vehicle and charge you $15 "to upgrade" a day more for a gas when you could have booked the electric before hand at a higher cost. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. Should really fix that if you get constant complaints.

I came to get a vehicle because my car is in the shop. I had a reservation through my insurance company and I was quoted at approximately $34 a day (no type of vehicle mentioned). My husband and I get to Enterprise and are met with a young man at the counter who immediately dismisses me because the reservation was in my husband's name (he just happens to be the primary on the insurance card). The associate was asking my husband questions but he didn't hear it so I was trying to help and give the information. I was dismissed again. The kid even laughed at us. He was taking a while getting our information processed. He didn't know how to pull up our previous card on file and instead of asking a coworker for help, he just said he couldn't access it until later. At this point we are getting frustrated and we have another appointment we need to get to. The kid finally takes us out to look at the car and says he's going to check the vehicle for milage and damage. He asked if a Nissan Altima was okay, I said it was. I never chose the vehicle or made a request for a full sized sedan. I'm going off of whatever my insurance approved. As he gets in the car he tells us there is less than a 1/4 tank of gas. Great, now we have to fill up before we even need to leave. We go to look around the vehicle together and I was pointing out a few scratches (one was very large). He very flippantly stated it was already documented and then went to show me on his iPad. I said that's fine, I just wanted to make sure. When I pointed out another dent he got frustrated with me and curtly said it was too small to document. At that point I was done with this kid's attitude. I stepped aside and told my husband I was done and I didn't want to speak to the associate anymore. As they get into the contract of the rental my husband asked how much the car was per day. The associate said something like $67. My husband advised that we had called the day before and were told $34. The kid says that quote would be for a compact car. Ok, then why didn't you give us a compact car?? We didn't make a request for the Altima. You can tell he's getting more and more agitated with us because we had questions and he can't handle that he doesn't have answers. We all have to go back inside now and he has to run everything by one of the managers. The manager looks at the account and says the total for 2 days is $67... so this kid was getting frustrated with us because he can't read. Everything is finally getting wrapped up, my husband goes to get in the vehicle and he's completely disgusted. The Altima REAKED of marijuana. It smelt like someone had been smoking in there for a week and they just tried to cover the smell with a whole can of air freshener. Now I go back inside and the kid we had before is gone. Another young lady walked over and asked if I needed help. I told her the problem and she walked out with me. When she got in the car she said she noticed the smell and said she would have to process out that car and get us another one. At this point we're running late for our next appointment. My husband asked her just about how long that would take because we needed to leave. She IMMEDIATELY got upset and said "just give me time!". I was dumbfounded. She then got out of the car, walked back to the office saying "I'm already helping someone and I don't feel good". First of all, when I came back into the office, she wasn't helping anyone. Secondly, I've been in customer service for a VERY long time and I've NEVER walked away angry from a customer or used the excuse that I don't feel good. What is happening at this location?? We've NEVER had issues here before and now we're met with TWO horrible service reps and a disgusting vehicle. We rent vehicles here at least once every few months for travel and this was the first time we haven't been in and out of there in about 15 minutes with excellent service reps. Better training is definitely needed for these two. At that point my husband was ready to walk away. He said he wanted to cancel the reservation completely. Another lady came out to us to see if she could help and I said I wanted to speak to the manager. She said she was also a manager there so I proceeded to tell her about our visit. She seemed very nice and apologetic. I appreciate her talking to us but at that point the damage to their reputation was already done. I'm not sure we'll be coming back to this location again. The current service may not be worth it.

    I rent cars pretty frequently, and sometimes rent locally in order to save gas on a long road trip…read more I generally go with Enterprise because they're nearby and have good weekend rates. However for a 3-day midweek trip to San Diego I saw I could save some money by going with Avis. Big mistake. The manager at the Tracy office seemed to be a nice man, but possibly so accustomed to dealing with dirtbags that his demeanor has evolved to assume every customer is a potential dirtbag. Since most rental agencies as of late seem to strive for stellar customer service, this was a little bit of a shock. I was told that if I left my personal truck on the premises, it would be towed. The explanation had something to do with Avis policy and liability, although I've never heard of such a policy at any other rental agency I've ever used. After having to sign a separate, locally generated document promising to return the car in a clean condition and also receiving a lecture on the subject, I was a little surprised to see that my proffered car already had a well-worn seat, sticky console, and muddy shoe prints on the carpet. After spinning out a couple times accelerating from stops in the rain, I checked the tires and sure enough two were almost completely bald. I carry my own auto insurance for rentals, but I left with a very uneasy feeling that I would have to argue over every pre-existing blemish on the car upon return. I've never had such a feeling with Enterprise. Returning the car turned out to be much smoother than I anticipated, however Avis did tack on two additional small surcharges above and beyond the price that had been quoted me online when I reserved the car. Something about local fees. Overall, the general experience was not worth the $70 I saved, and I will definitely steer clear of Avis in the future.

At the Sacramento airport you have to take a bus to where the rental car services are located. The line was at least 40 people deep, and it was raining outside, which wasn't fun. When we got dropped off, I got in line for the Budget rental car line. While in line they had a QR code that stated scan here for faster checkout. I scanned, added my information and at the bottom of the confirmation screen it stated to go to their "express" location. I went there, stood in line, and then was told that I had to go back inside. So that was frustrating. I got back in line inside, and waited another 15-20 minutes to be helped. Budget had by far the longest line and wait time. Once I was helped, I was given a ticket and told to go outside and give my ticket to the woman at the tent outside. Once at the tent, there were roughly 3 people ahead of me, I gave my ticket to the woman. From start to the finish once I arrived from the bus to car rental office to actually getting my car it was roughly 2 hours. The woman working the tent where you gave your car ticket, seemed perplexed that there was only one person running to grab cars. It was unfortunate because it seemed like there was a real lack of communication. No one tried to help. WHen I got in the car, it definitely needed to be cleaned out. It wasn't super clean. This was a real lackluster experience. This experience made me rethink ever renting a car again when I'm traveling.
