Both occasions I was turned away (after taking the city bus and walking 1/2 mile from the bus stop in 95 degree weather) because they didn't have any vehicles despite me having a reservation confirmation number. This is an okay location to grab a car from. I rented a car for a few days while here for work and the biggest miss was their Gold Booth was closed. As a President's Circle Member, skipping the line and going straight to your car is such a great benefit, but at this point - no one let me know it was closed so I walked to the parking garage and then had to walk back to the terminal. All in all though - the experience was still fast and seamless and the car I drove for two days was perfect for event needs, so I'd still recommend the location; just maybe post some signs or send an email to not go straight to the garage next time if the gold booth is closed. read more

Branch Manager Stacy is a ROCK STAR! I have had to use local rentals for the past couple of weeks. Last week when a room full of Burners were all clamoring to get on their way, Stacy somehow balanced the customers in front of her, the phone which was ringing off the hook as well as running back and forth to help clean the cars and get them back on the road. She stayed patient and sweet even though some people were being rude. I was back there this morning and of course I had reserved for the wrong dates. Stacy bent over backwards to find a vehicle that would work for me and help me get out of there! As an aside, if you are not coming from the airport this location can't be beat. read more

I read their reviews that were poor and felt most issues were not even fair, people are quick to complain but not to commend. CROOKS! Do not support this business! I reserved a car on-line and it was not available at pick-up so they told me I would have to pay for a larger model. Then once we went through all the paperwork I was told because of my age (24) there was a $150 additional charge. I entered ALL my correct information in the initial reservation and none of that was disclosed. They tried to apply several hidden fees, increasing the price by over $200. When I told them to cancel, they said the reservation time had expired and they couldn't refund me. I then called customer service with my reservation number and told them I would report it to my credit card company as FRAUD if they didn't do the refund. The lady immediately apologized, cancelled the transaction, and did the refund. This place is shady, and I do not recommend. read more

These cleaning charges apparently have been applied to many drivers particularly during Covid when Hertz filed for bankruptcy. I have refuted the charges on my credit card. When I picked up my rental, I was only given the option of a full electric vehicle. I told the manager I was not comfortable driving one because I didn't know anything about them. I was forced to take it as there were no other economical cars. She offered to upgrade me to a full size, but I would be charged more. I said the entire point of the rental is not to drive something big and gas guzzling as I was driving far to see my family. The manager had no idea what type of EV I was given so I couldn't download the correct app to charge it. None of the charging stations it sent me to were working or they were Tesla chargers and Hertz doesn't give you that charging port. I had to download up to 5 different apps to pay to charge. None of them worked. Half the damn machines don't even work. I spent time on customer service at 12am trying to get this vehicle to charge. It took upwards of 40 min to charge which extended my drive with my two kids in the back from 8 hours to 12 n a half hours. Got to my location at 3:30am with 5% battery charge left. Then tried to charge it at the house overnight. After 8 hrs it only had charged to 20%, barely enough to get to the rental desk at Ontario airport. I called this manager multiple times when I first received the vehicle only to have her tell me she had no clue how to charge it and I should "GOOGLE" it!!!! Are you freaking kidding me!!!! You gave me this vehicle knowing damn well I didn't want it, wasn't comfortable driving it, and had no clue how to use it or charge it. HER NAME IS STACY MILLIGAN AT THE RENO LOCATION OFF VASSAR ST. She needs to be retrained. Should not be a branch manager. I'm extremely upset for what you put my family and I through. I tried to complain at the hertz desk in the Ontario airport, and the agent would only highlight a phone number to call to file my complaint. Then I'm told later that in order to get a refund, I had to file a complaint while I had the vehicle....I TRIED TO!!!! To be stranded and have to park and wait 40 minutes 4 times during my trip which was a trip for a family emergency when I left at 4:00pm and got there at 3:30AM....It's an 8 hour drive tops. I do it multiple times a year. It shouldn't take me more than 12hrs due to this stupid car. Then the guy told me when I returned it that I could've driven over to the reno airport right then and switched it out for free??!?!? I would've done that fright away! Worst rental experience ever! I hate giving out one stars, but sometimes it has to be done! Using their mobile app, I reserved a vehicle to go to my eye Dr. in Sacramento a week in advance. When the plans changed by a couple of hours, I went back onto the app and modified the reservation to the correct pick up time. When I arrive to pick up my vehicle, I was about 12 minutes early. There was a line out the door! I peaked inside and saw they have two clerks! TWO! Apparently there were three, but one left to take a customer to a shop to pick up their vehicle!!! Don't they have employees that are specifically there to do just that!??! I went up front and asked one of the clerks if the reservation I made earlier made a difference of where I was in line, and he replied " no, just got to get in line and wait" ... and I made a reservation why??? After one hour and 20 minutes, I was finally at the counter. Now here, you don't stand but you sit! The reservation clerks are seated. Once they fill out all the information, or look up the information that you have already uploaded using their app, you go about the process of getting your vehicle set up. This clerk decided to reprimand me for being hours late, even though I used their app to modify my pickup time! Even after informing him of this, he continued to badmouth the fact that I was not happy that I had to stand and wait in line for 1 1/2 hours! I suppose I had no right to be upset! After getting all of the computer/paperwork set up, the clerk then has to go and get the car, run it through the car wash, which is done manually, dry the car, and then pull it around for the renter to pick up! Aren't there supposed to be yard people for this part of the job??? No wonder I was there for two hours! By the time I sat in the driver seat, it had been two hours plus! The car was on empty, but I did not want them to spend another 45 minutes out getting gas for me! I picked it up empty, and I returned it empty! Perhaps this was a fluke event, but the fact that it happened at all, is inexcusable! They have no one answering the phones except themselves! So even while doing the computer check-in, they are answering phones and talking to other customers , giving themselves ample opportunity to make mistakes on the computer! I watched it happen several times between the two clerks I saw at least one other customer demanding corporate headquarters phone numbers... I demanded that as well! Not that it matters, I will never, never, ever, come back! I made it to my appointment only two minutes late! No thanks to this rental company with their inept way of doing business! This was several weeks ago, and I am still seething! Again, this could have been a fluke, but I do know that enterprise car rental has several clerks, standing up waiting, with a much smoother and faster operation! Shame on me for switching! When they arrived the Hertz agent told them they didn't have any Polestars left, but he would UPGRADE them to a Chevy Bolt for free. I am extremely angry that the agent misled my wife. The Chevy Bolt is a DOWNGRADE from the Polestar. A new Polestar costs around $55,000. A new Bolt costs $30,000. explain how that's an upgrade! I was on vacation and needing a car. I went to my expedia account and reserved a car. This is the closest place it gave me, and interestingly per expedia, they had an affordable compact car I want with the right price. Made the reservation and viola, I was on my way. It was during the holiday, so normally rental centers would have all cars rented out. I walked in, and I got greeted nicely. There was no line, I was the 2nd customer but there were 3 windows open, so I didn't have to really wait in line. I showed my reservation online to the staff and she gladly looked it up for me with no further questions asked. And just under 10 minutes of interactions, I got the car I wanted. Now that says a lot about my experience. I received an excellent quality service, I was served by a professional staff, and fulfilled my request quickly. Then come the time I had to go and return the rental car. I called them I was running late like 5-10 minutes, and a lady told over the phone that it's fine, coz they give customer s30 minutes grace period. I was like, right on. So, I had time to go to a bank on my way. I arrived and dropped the keys, printed out the receipts. Very fast transaction. Also, they offer a complimentary ride to where you need to be dropped off, that's a plus. If I ever come the area, this place is my go-to rental center. I would recommend this place. read more

Reserved online with them a week in advance. Arrived at the location, only to be told that they didn't have any cars on the lot except for a large SUV. As this rental was for a weeklong business trip, renting a car that large made no sense. The woman then said she would call a body shop and ask if they had an available car. Ultimately I was told nothing was available. That being despite the fact that I am a part of the company's frequent renter program and had reserved this a week in advance. I wasn't given a phone call in advance, wasn't offered any type of compensation aside from a 'free upgrade' to the oversized car, and basically had no choice to leave and rent from a different company elsewhere. Ok so it's my fault for choosing a location that obviously deserves to go out of business. I went over each and every review and it seems by and large most customers agree: avoid this place and go to the airport location instead. I'm a very loyal Hertz 5 Star and Presidents circle member but none of that matters. Here's the actual truthful information you need: I called for a car and made sure that there would be one when I got there between 30 - 60 minutes later. Once arrived they said they were sold out. They said they would have cars later but they did not. Switched to Enterprise (which I never do) and for an upgrade. Very happy with Enterprise right now. If you don't have cars no problem but please do not waste my time. Time is valuable and you knew up front you couldn't accommodate. Read the reviews: 2 star average and pissed off customers. Watch your charges - they will over charge you, and then not fix it. We had a Priceline reservation for $145 -for 3 days and got billed $261. I didn't notice because my husband used his credit card and they don't care, they will not fix it. When I called Customer Service in Philippines, I was told that we got the best price available??? Then why even reserve through PRICELINE? I was offered a $50 gift card towards a rental to use in 30 days. NO THANK YOU. The gal working never asked to see paperwork, looked it up by last name. I didn't realize that we were getting overcharged. When I initially called her yesterday, she just referred me to where we dropped it off at. We initially went off the airport sight to pick up because it was less expensive ($$33 per day vs $65 per day) 2nd: The car we got was a USED 2018 Corolla with 48K miles, the girl at Vassar Rd never walked the car for damages, so when we took it back to the Reno Airport location there was a white paint mark on the passenger bumper, who knows if it was there previously- there were other dings on the car, but we are getting charged for that also. Person that checked it in seemed surprised that the girl didn't walk the car with us but said we should have known better. Ridiculous. I will never use Hertz again. For Vassar St location By far the worst rental car experience we have ever, ever, ever had. 0 stars When something goes wrong here, they don't give a flying $%#@ to make it better. They didn't even say sorry that they didn't update their system and gave away the midsize SUV we reserved. We were told to check for a midsize SUV at the airport to upgrade from the sedan we got stuck with. The airport said they couldn't help at all because we didn't have a reservation at their location. I returned the car right away and they charged me $151 for 2 miles of driving and returning it about an hour later. WTF? Still no sorry, nothing. It's not our fault you choose to print out your reservations in the morning and not check back to see if the reservations have updated. Why not just look at the computer for up-to-the-minute accurate representations of your current reservations? It's like printing out emails - makes no sense. If you're reading this and want to rent from hertz, rent from the Hertz at the airport where the employees at least seem to care a little bit. Wow, just truly AWFUL. We made a reservation at 9am to pick up our PAID rental, and that does not even make a difference in the amount of time we have to wait. There were 5 people ahead of us, and it took nearly 25 minutes for that line to even budge. How does that even make sense? One receptionist with five people in line. Where is everybody? Additionally, the set up is so unprofessional. It's quite odd that the receptionist are sitting, rather than standing. On the plus side, they have a plethora of chairs because believe me, you will be waiting if you choose to rent a car from this location. I chose this hertz location because of its low pricing for its online reservation. However, it's not worth it! I much rather pay $20 extra for enterprise to take care of me. This has to be my absolute worst experience renting a car, ever. We received a rental due repairs on my car after damage in a parking lot, covered by the other person's insurance, Statefarm. We dropped my car off and didn't need the rental for three days while I was out of town, and received a Honda CRV in exchange for my luxury sedan that was damaged. However, the biggest issue is that Hertz knowingly supplied a car with a crack across the windshield immediately in front of the driver, which reflects light directly at you while you drive if the sun is on the driver's side. They didn't mention this when we got the car, which is an issue and it wasn't noticed until halfway through the drive home, and when we called, they simply stated that they were aware it had a crack. Although Nevada laws only say that the windshield cannot be obstructed, a crack in front of the driver's side could be deemed an obstruction by an officer and I am not willing to pay a ticket for the company's negligence. We called Hertz daily for a week for a replacement because I did not give up one damaged car for another damaged car, at which they'd give us a runaround on the daily, then say they didn't have vehicles (what good is a car rental company without rentals?). It took 11 days for Hertz to provide a different car, and even then, they gave us a car that smells like cigarette smoke. Avoid this location at any cost. read more

Considering the vehicle was returned on time, I have processed a refund in the amount of $161.83 to the card on file. I rented a car from Hertz 2 things happened..1 car was filthy it was not sanitized, with Covid19 spreading they did not clean the car I rented there was dried cheese on the seat I had to clean it with sanitizer & wipes! 2 I returned the car 24 hrs later with more gas than was in it and they over charged my credit card for 35.00 more than they were supposed to! I will never do business with Hertz I have tried calling to get those charges reversed and they won't budge after I was guaranteed I would not be charged extra because of how Disgusting and filthy the car was. My husband and I actually had a horrible time booking our car via phone/online through Hertz corporate and had very low expectations when we went to pick up. Fortunately, we were taken really good care of by two staff members. My husband actually lost his drivers license and I had stayed behind at the airport to pick up the luggage while he Ubered to pick up the car. Dustin graciously picked me up in his own car so that I could rent the car under my name and drivers license. He helped me with all of our bags and everything. Then he and Che'Von did an amazing job of quickly getting us on the road and letting us know about a deal where you can get a free lyft through hertz after dropping off the car. These guys are really good at customer service. The car itself was wonderful and we barely had to fill it twice after driving nearly 1,000 miles in a week thanks to it being a hybrid. I'll start off by saying that I am a loyal Hertz President's Circle customer; I rent vehicles from Hertz nearly every week when traveling for work. This time, though, my Yukon was hit in a parking lot and so the gentleman's insurance set up the reservation while my Yukon was in the body shop. I called on Monday evening to confirm that I would be dropping off my Yukon at the shop and picking up the car the following morning. I gave the confirmation number from the insurance company and they confirmed the reservation and pick-up, also that the insurance company had reserved a vehicle of comparable size so that my whole family would fit. Once at the body shop, I called Hertz but there was no answer; the phone just rang when I called a few times. The body shop was able to get me a ride to the Hertz branch. Upon arrival, there were five people sitting in the lobby and one agent behind the desk. I gave her my confirmation number and she said that she had my reservation but that I would need to wait until they had a vehicle for me. She continued that there were five people ahead of me at this time. I asked for clarification because this had supposedly been set up well in advance. She let me know that there were possibly two vehicles en route but that it would be a longer wait before they know when more would arrive. Unfortunately, I had planned my morning without anticipating this delay. I asked if I could get a ride home and then they could call me when a vehicle was available. I took the ride and waited. No call came by early afternoon so I called them. Still no cars but "there should be one arriving in the next hour or two." I called Hertz customer assistance number to see if I could pick up a vehicle at a different branch. I was told that this is the only local branch that does insurance rentals and that the next-nearest one was approximately an hour away (in Truckee California at the airport). They assured me that they would locate a vehicle for me and have a manager call me back. I did receive a call about 30 minutes later letting me know that they had a vehicle for me and that I should call the branch to arrange a pick-up. Well, I called the branch as was given the same "we should have a car in the next hour or two... we will call you as soon as it's here." I waited again for a couple of hours and called back. This time, I was told that they would have a vehicle between 4:00 and 6:00 pm. I asked if I needed to call back then or if they would call to let me know. I was assured that they would call me. No call. The following morning, I called as soon as the branch opened and asked about the vehicle. They told me that their drivers were going to be out picking up cars later this morning so then I could finally get a car. I then confirmed that it would be a full-size SUV, or vehicle that seats at least 6. I was told that they don't rent anything larger than a 5-seater. I said that was not large enough but, at this point, I would take any car they could get me. I called Hertz customer service again just to exhaust my options. I was told that it would be escalated to a manager, the manager would locate a vehicle, and then would call me. I told the young lady that this is the same response I got the day before and that no vehicle had been procured. She told me that's why she needed to escalate it back to the managers and thanked me for choosing Hertz before promptly hanging up. I received a call from the local Hertz agent about an hour later and she told me that "our drivers are going to pick up some cars from Susanville (a town in California approximately 90 minutes away). There should be a vehicle for me about 10:00 or a little after... Will that be okay?" In the mean time, I called Enterprise and they have a full-size SUV for me; they are on their way to pick me up as I write this review. I can't conceive how Hertz allows this branch to operate this way and, from looking at all the other reviews, this is clearly not an anomaly. I would strongly urge management to take action to remedy these types of issues; they are only going to continue to suffer in the long run if it's not addressed. read more

My hubby had to rent a car due to his needing to be repaired. They forgot about his rental and forgot to pick him up at the time they arranged at the body shop. They ended up having to have the car service Lyft come pick him up and bring him to Hertz. The car was nice that he rented but the service at Hertz SUCKS. We returned the car early which they said would be fine since it was being done through a insurance claim. We returned it on a Friday and they greeted us outside and took the real keys back and said that he did not need a receipt. I told him to go back in and get one, he tried but they insisted no receipt needed. Well come to find out they chose not to "accept" the return of the car and left it on the lot until Monday and then said we didn't return it until Monday so they could charge the full price. Hertz is the absolute worst y'all!!! Across the board terrible service. I mean do they purposefully hire rude, offensive, condescending, imbeciles to deter people from shopping there? Seriously how are they still in business? Alison the manager is terrible too, (didn't know she was the manager until someone else pointed it out in a bad review about her) but I did ask for her name while I was there cuz she was awful. it's obvious she cares little to nothing about her job. Give absolutely zero effort to be helpful, or even show any remorse on behalf of the company. They need some customer service training on how to be helpful aside from recommending a customer service number twice, that is NOT EVEN A CONNECTED LINE. Went back in to explain the line didn't work and she continued to tell me that it was my only option. Like wtf? Are you hearing what I'm saying? Am I speaking a different language? Do you want a consistently shitty experience from end to end? Including strange arbitrary price hikes and hidden fees that they don't tell you about until after your credit card is overdrawn, even though you've been paying them the whole time and end up paying double? This is the place for you. And if you are hit by someone driving a hertz car you can rest assured they'll protect that driver's information like it's a national treasure. And they'll treat you like YOU'RE the criminal. Guy guy hit me, driving a hertz car, and is now dodging any contact I try to make with him so as to get information to file a claim with hertz. I can't look up his claim number unless I have his policy rental number. How the hell am I supposed to have that information? Your telling me you can't look up someone's rental with their name and phone number? What kind responsibility avoiding policy is this? No responsibility. I hope to god hertz goes out of business. These people are phony crooks! I will Will NEVER ever be doing business with hertz. You guys are the bottom of the barrel pond scum. Leaving a struggling college student with a damaged car all because they won't give me the info I need (which I can only get from them or the guy who hit me, who's ghosting me to avoid responsibility) the liability falls on THEM. The driver hit me from behind! And now I'm the one that has to pay for the repairs because neither the driver OR the rental company (which provided the insurance on the rental) will take responsibility. This is why people don't trust you assholes! This is why all your locations have bad reviews. Horrible business practices and you treat your customers like garbage. Would have left a much better impression had you taken responsibility for the insurance. And fixed my car like you are supposed to. Im filing a BBB complaint and Like I said. I will NEVER return here. Absolutely HORRID customer service!! And they straight up lied to my face. They overcharged me almost $60 and refuse to reimburse. And the woman at the front desk wouldn't give me a receipt because she was too busy. The car reeked. It literally smelled like rancid broccoli. I was told the base rate was $27 and was charged $161 for 3 days!!! For two days they told me it was a grand total of $66 (which would make sense with some tax). After getting a response from the rental company they told me the base rate was $42.99/day. They lied to me either upon renting the car, or whoever is responding for customer service. Had I been told it was $43/day for the most awful car, I NEVER would have rented it!! I was quoted at $167 for an ENTIRE WEEK and I only rented the car for three days and was only charged $6 less!
