Hertz is the worst and this location proves it. I rent tons of vehicles for my business and personal use. Rented a 7 passenger suv and when I arrived they told me they didn't have anything available. I asked why I wasn't given a courtesy call to let me know before I took an Uber there. They responded with the last costumer just extended 30min before I got there. So they had 30min to give me that courtesy call. They the. Said they "might" be able to have something at noon and I declined and asked them to cancel my reservation. They then proceeded to tell me they couldn't cancel and I would have to call customer service I looked at both of them and said not only did you not give me a courtesy call you want me to waste more time on hold with customer service? The guy said they would call. I walked out. I love my AMEX but it doesn't pay to be a Hertz Gold Member or even attempt to rent with Hertz. I called other Hertz locations in the area that claimed they had a 7 passenger suv on their site. Turns out all 3 locations have nothing even though they claim they do. I was referred to Hertz Placentia by my auto body shop. Before going, I called to confirm that my insurance would only cover an economy car, and the representative assured me that wouldn't be an issue. When I arrived, I was told there were no economy cars available and that I would need to pay extra for an upgrade to a mid-size sedan or SUV. Since that didn't work for me, I had my spouse pick me up so we could rent from Enterprise instead. I miss the times when car rentals would simply upgrade for free for convenience. read more

This place is a joke! First car they give me is a Tesla. Wouldn't charge or start. Then they give me a Nissan Rogue. A/C doesn't work during heatwave. Went to swap out and they said they couldn't because they have no cars. Asked for a discount, they said they can't do that. I've been in this car for 1 month with no A/C! How does a new car have broken A/C? They told me if I wanted a different car that I had to drive to Ontario Airport and pay the fee for returning the car elsewhere! I got such a great deal on the SUV they rented me via Premier Body Shop, but then they turned around and charged me $10/hour late charge for the 3 hours I was late...which essentially equated to another full day rental charge. I rented a car from Hertz because my car was stolen. When I first got the car from the woman who was working there, she was very sympathetic and kind. She even upgraded me for free because I was clearly having a bad day. Unfortunately when I went to pick it up, the man there was less than kind. If you call Hertz in Placentia, the hours of operation are stated as 9-12 on Saturday, which I assumed was correct since I called their number. They were closed, which meant that I could not turn in the car. They are also closed on Sunday. I could not turn in my car until 4 on Monday because they are closed when I go to work. So I returned my car on Monday at 4 and asked since the information given to me was incorrect, I asked if they could waive the extra two days. He said, unfortunately, since the car was in my possession I was going to be charged. I told him that I tried to turn it in, but they were not there. He said that I should have checked. I called the number and played it for him. He heard that their own recording states that they are open until 12 pm. I also played him the video showing him that I was there on Saturday @11:30.H He said that any "reasonable" person would have checked more than one source to see if they were open. He also said that I should have gone to another Hertz location. I called both locations, that were open on Saturday and they said that they close at 12. I would not have made it in time. He said that I should have taken it to the service department at Ford. How am I supposed to know that I can just go to the attached business and give them the keys to the car? He was telling me all of the things that I should have done, which I did and then told me that any REASONABLE person would have done. I was more than reasonable, I did everything right and he was extremely wrong. He acted like I had inside information on how Hertz does business. He was extremely condescending and unhelpful. I will definately never do any business with that company again. I will also tell everyone this story, which has made a very traumatizing situation, of getting my brand new car stolen, much worse. read more

Amber and Kyle were amazing ! I'm glad I was not influenced by other reviewers. I had such a pleasant positive experience. Amber gave us a great rate and explained how their pricing works. She quoted us almost $9 cheaper Than Enterprise- which was my first choice only because it's closer to my house. Kyle happily extended our rental daily when I called and they were very accommodating as we were uncertain how long we would need the car. It's also super easy to extend online. Amber has a great sense of humor and Kyle is professional and calm. Great working combo. My only complaint is the location. It was very hard to find. They need better signage. It's located in a shared lot with an RV center. Easy to miss. read more

Amber, the manager here, was very nice and accommodating to us! She helped me call a Lyft while I was waiting to get picked up. We rented a Tesla while my car was getting fixed and they were very patient in teaching me how to use the car since it was my first time driving a Tesla. The interior of the car was very clean and smelled like new. On the first day here, I saw another customer being rude to her and she maintained her professionalism in handling the situation. The other party was going to leave a bad review for her and complain to the higher ups, but standing from an outside position, I could tell Amber did her best to resolve the situation in a calm and fair manner. I knew she was great over the phone when we were speaking, and she had a great sense of humor in person, too. She was helping a customer during one of our phone calls, and she asked to call me back instead of having me wait 30+ minutes. I liked how she respected my time, and she followed her word in calling me back. Many places don't do that. Though this place is a bit farther than we had expected, I don't mind driving a bit more to get excellent customer service. Definitely would refer friends and family to come here. I believe this location is a matter of necessity/convenience for many folks, like myself. Unfortunately, I need to rent from this location occasionally. My experiences have never been great, or too bad, until recently. I had rented a vehicle prior to this visit, and provided a review (to Hertz) of my experience. The vehicle I was given, was not clean, despite having waited 30 minutes for a wash. I bring this up, because I received call from the branch manager, shortly after submitting my review. Hertz offers an option if you do not want to be contacted regarding you review; I made that selection. Despite this, the branch manager called me and let me know she was not pleased with my review. Really?!?! I recently had to go back to rent another vehicle. When I arrived, there was a customer who was clearly frustrated. He needed a sepcific vehicle and when the branch manager arrived, she barely acknowledged him. I asked if I could rent 2 different vehicles on the lot, per the usual, I was told no. Last time it was because the vehicle I wanted needed an oil change that would take "8 hours". This time, it was because both vehicles were "reserved". I have rented from this location over a half a dozen times, and have never been given the vehicle I ask for. Based on my observations of other renters, this seems to be an issue for other patrons who visit this branch. Getting back to this rental experience, I was given a very small SUV, that was absolutely disgusting on the inside. Considering the experience I just had with the branch manager, I had expected some effort would be put into making sure I was given a clean vehicle. Nope! Despite Covid, I was given a filthy vehicle, with unknown dried liquids splattered throughout. Also had very visible shoe marks all over the seats (please see photos). If you do not need to rent from this location, I strongly suggest going to another branch, or other car rental company. read more

I had the most awful experience with Jesse at Hertz location in Santa Ana South Main Street HLE. Customer service was of no help, only Amber Rose at this location went above and beyond to make my trip better. She gave me her only 7 seater vehicle at no extra charge even though it was a higher class than what I had reserve. She also made sure my old reservation was cancelled and charges were refunded. I can't thank her enough for being so amazing. For my next trip to southern Cali, I will make sure to have my reservation at her location because I know she is a reliable manager (that won't screw me over like Jesse did). read more

Rented a car on 5/26/21 to get to SNA 3 years ago on 5/27. The lady manager offered me a 12-seater van w/ free gas to get it to SNA. So I agreed and turned in the next day at the airport with no problems. July, a month later, I get a call from Hertz saying the vehicle had damage to which I responded by text that it would not concern me because I returned it way back in June without damage. No further notices from Hertz. Now fast forward 3 years to May 7, 2024 and I get a letter from a law firm, collection agency for Hertz, that says I owe $18,365. Whoa! What happened - was I a victim of bait and switch and extortion? You figure. I just hope Hertz Placentia can resolve this quandary or I warn everyone to stay away from this scam place. read more

I booked a medium size car for a 5 days trip to Arizona of 3 passengers. When I got to the Hertz office in Placentia, the only car available was a Ford Mustang. I complained to the store associate, and the only alternative she proposed was a mini van with an extra charge of more than $200. She didn't even try to look for a 4 doors car to a different Hertz location. I'm disappointed with the poor customer service and I would never go back to this Hertz office. Somehow the computer reservation was offering me different car option than which I reserved when I did not agree to accept it Fernando was helping me upgrade and answering my questions over and over. I recently rented a vehicle from this location. when picking up the vehicle there wasn't really an issue. the woman who worked there was amber...she did her job, but spent most of the time on the phone talking to someone and had a little bit of a stuck up arrogant attitude...but i Just let it go cause I needed to get the car and leave. But.....when I came back to return the vehicle, thats when things got very rude and disrespectful. I brought my sister with me because I was driving the rental and I needed her for a ride back home. I parked the rental and went inside to return it and my sister parked her car in the parking lot. I went in and amber was very rude and had an attitude. She was in the process of helping another customer rent a vehicle, which is completely fine. I get it. so she told me to hold on and she'd be right back. but I later found out when she went outside to help this customer she yelled at my sister to move her car because she's not allowed to park there to wait for me and not only did she yell at her but in a very ugly disrespectful way with a bad attitude. I just spent $400 renting this vehicle and I can't have my ride park there and wait five minutes for me? Amber has a bad attitude and should not be working in customer service. Amber Rose (the manager) is extremely rude and unprofessional. I picked up a rental while my car was being repaired at a body shop. Had the car for 3 weeks. The car had no floor mats and was given to me filthy and with pet hair inside. Upon returning the car, I received a call 4 days later from Amber telling me: "I destroyed the inside of the car" - verbatim. She was rude. Short. Interrupted me over and over while on the phone. Just an unpleasant human being. I'd recommend taking your money elsewhere. No need to deal with disgruntled employees who aren't happy with themselves. read more

Car was rented by me for one of our company employees. Paid online for a total of $252.74 We have rented online multiple times before and never had an issue with pre paid vehicles. The employee picking up always needs to present an additional CC for incidentals and that is never an issue. Upon pickup today at Placentia - Yorba Linda Hle -1350 Yorba Linda Blvd, Placentia, CA US 92870-3833 my employee was turned away from renting as she did not have IN HAND the CC that was used to pay for the vehicle. Her other information all matched and was verified and she had her personal card for incidentals. The employee working for Hertz (name unknown, dressed very unprofessionally in a black sundress with sunflowers on it and an unnecessary amount of cleavage showing) told my employee that there was nothing that could be done to help her. She refused to rent her that vehicle, refused to rent her a different vehicle with her own personal credit card, and refused to cancel our prepaid reservation. "Looks like you're out of options here. You can try Enterprise down the street." Now I cannot cancel this reservation because it is past pick up time. This Hertz employee refused a vehicle rental that was paid for and we cannot get our money back. This is absolutely unacceptable. Not only will we never rent from this company again but I staff at this location is rude and should not be serving the public. Awful experience! Booked a rental for the weekend to drive down to Mexico and was assured by the Hertz representative over the phone that I would be able to do so but needed to buy Mexico Insurance at the Hertz pickup location. When I arrived the day of I was explicitly told that the vehicle COULD NOT be taken into Mexico. Representative said that perhaps I could drive to Hertz at the Airport and MAYBE buy Mexico insurance. She said she "could not" contact the Hertz location there to verify that it was indeed a possibility. Terrible customer service, initiative, and ability to resolve issues. read more
