I rented a car though here and left the parking lot and the radio wasn't working. The lady there then accused me of breaking the radio and said it was because I plugged my phone in which that never had happened. This place is trash and the workers don't care. I had a very disappointing and concerning experience with the Hertz location on Brookpark Road (5411 Brookpark Road). I strongly encourage others to be cautious when renting from this location or better yet, not to rent from this location. If I could, I'd give them 0 stars. My rental was originally prepaid through Priceline. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, I was informed that the car class I reserved was not available. I paid for a midsize SUV but was instead given a compact Jeep. Also, I was told that I could pay an upgrade of $25 per day to get another vehicle, I said that most locations will give you a free upgrade if they don't have the vehicle you reserved ready. He was very rude and said absolutely not. All of a sudden, they came out with this compact jeep, being that I was in a rush and had to get back to work, I had to take what they gave me at the time, I thought it's just a rental. I knew by this interaction that this was a ghetto spot and he certainly was a scam artist. By the way, they have a lot of vehicles in that garage connected to the back of the building, I saw all of the vehicles in the garage when I went to drop their key off this morning at 8 am, Later, after my Lexus was damaged during the January 2026 winter storm, I had to extend my rental several times while waiting for my vehicle to be repaired. I renewed the vehicle online three separate times at a rate of $215 per week. Based on those renewals, my total expected balance was $829, and I have a copy of the receipt reflecting that amount. I returned the vehicle on March 2, 2026 at approximately 7:00 PM. The location was already closed, and there was no key drop available. Because I was concerned about potential issues, I documented the return by taking photos and a video showing the vehicle on their premises and in good condition. Since there was no way to leave the key, I returned the following morning to hand it directly to the staff. When I arrived the next morning, I was presented with a receipt totaling $1,727. I immediately questioned the charge because my total should have been $829 based on the weekly renewals. I was told that the computer system changed the rental to a monthly rate because the vehicle was returned late. However, the vehicle was due at 1:00 PM and was returned at approximately 7:00 PM the same day. Even if a late fee applied, it should not have resulted in a charge that nearly doubled the total cost. What concerns me even more is that I already have documentation showing the correct total of $829. My credit card company was also able to see the original charges and confirmed the expected total that matched my receipt. I have filed a complaint with Hertz corporate, and they informed me that someone would contact me within 3 to 5 days. I have also spoken with my credit card company, and if the incorrect charges go through, I will be formally disputing them. This experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. Customers deserve transparency, fair billing, and honest service. I hope Hertz corporate reviews what occurred at this location and addresses the situation appropriately. Until this matter is resolved, I strongly encourage customers to carefully review their receipts and document everything when renting from this location. I wish I had read the reviews, the black guy is rude, the black lady is rude also. This place needs to be shut down. read more

I prepaid a car reservation with Dollar car rental in Parma, OH. Just about 18 hours prior to pick up, I received a cancelation email telling me they didn't have any more cars. So now they have my $433.75 and I don't even have a car. Here it is, a week later and they don't want to approve my refund. For days I've been going through time consuming emails and chats with no success. I believe they think they can wear a person down until they just give up. Has anyone else had this problem with either Dollar Car Rental or Hertz? read more

This location should have a negative rating as one star is too high. I've rented hundreds of vehicles and I'm currently in the Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Program at the President's Circle level. This location was the worst experience I've ever experienced as a renter. First of all the vehicle class that we reserved was an SUV Nissan Rogue or similar. When we arrived at the location at the time of our rental we were told that they didn't have any vehicles. Then we were told that they had one minivan that they could rent. When we said that would be okay, we were then told it would be an additional $25 dollars per day because it was in a different class of vehicle. I said to the representative that Hertz really hasn't been the same since they went into bankruptcy in 2020 and this was unacceptable that we shouldn't have to pay an up-charge because they didn't have the vehicle we reserved. The representative said that I disrespected him and he wouldn't rent to us. I said I've done nothing to disrespect you I've stated that Hertz isn't the same as it was prior to the bankruptcy as they don't seem to have the vehicle inventory that they did and when I rent cars they seem to be higher in mileage than they used to be. The representative was very rude and again stated that he wouldn't rent the vehicle to us and we left the location. I can't believe this is a corporate location and they employ people like this. I'm finding it more difficult to continue to do business with Hertz. At this point I'm also contacting Hertz corporate to file an official complaint against the location and employee. read more

WISH I COULD POST ZERO STARS. We made a reservation online with my credit card, no problems. Nothing was mentioned about insurance during the online reservation process. At the point picking up, the manager tried to swipe my card to charge the insurance and HIS MACHINE would not read my card. The transation was declined. I had the very nice, helpful person from my card company on the phone with me in the Hertz office and she explained the problem lied with the Hertz card reader. The Hertz manager argued that he does 30 of these a day and the problem was on my end. The entire reservation fell apart at that point. The manager was very nice and polite until this problem, then he threw me a cocky attitude like I was some sort of credit card flake. I have perfect credit, pay off the balance every month, and had a wide open credit limit. He left it for me to cancel the reservation with the company, couldn't even handle that with me standing there. We had a two-week vacation that unravelled thanks to this situation. I will NEVER deal with this location ever again, and may not ever deal with Hertz again, though I've had good experiences over the past 35 years. read more

URGENT READ: if I could give 0 stars, you know I would because seriously this place is ridiculous. It is unbelievable how terrible the service is! NO MATTER WHAT, DO NOT TAKE THE CHANCE AND GO WITH THEM! That is the best advice I can give and trust me, I too want to find the cheapest option but at what cost? So here is how my experience went... My bf and I rented the car under my credit card and when we get there, they tell us there is an additional fee per day to have him drive (I'm from NYC and still don't have a License). Then, they try telling us that there is a young drivers fee although we chose to go with Hertz due to their advertising of waiving the fee for the whole month. They stated that it ended the Wednesday before (still got a week before the month ends) and we said we booked the reservation online during that time so it should still be waived. The manager said he would try to fix that for us but if we chose to cancel there would be a cancellation fee. At this point we gave up and let them pile on the fees cause we got places to be. Then f***en "CHAZ" takes us to the lot where we pick up the car and I'm filming the car cause I know these criminals will try pulling somesh*t if there is a scratch when we return the car as he is taking photos. I, then, point a scratch on the front and side mirror when he has the audacity to tell me to,quote, "ma'am calm down!?!" Oh, don't worry "chaz" this story does not end here for you. Also would like to point out that while we were trying to sort everything out and young Chinese couple came in who had it worse than us. They made reservations online, paid a bunch, only to be told that there were no more cars available; they lost their heads! But I bet "chaz" didn't tell them to calm down. I suggest NEVER renting from Hertz period. I pre-paid for a car and upon pick up to leave for our 7 day trip I was denied my rental due to bad credit. That isnt the bad part. I was told to contact customer service for my refund. They said 7-10 days. After waiting the 10 business days i called again to be told the refund was waiting a supervisors approval and THEN it would be 5-7 days.....still waiting and I have contacted the state of Ohios attorney generals office for help. Hertz Rent A Car - My last review - Car Rental Near Me - Parma, Ohio

Rented a full size class, for a one way rental leaving Cleveland. Called the office a few days before scheduled pickup, to confirm what they carry in "full size" class. Was told: Impala, Taurus, Camry, Avenger. (Avenger doesn't belong in this grouping, but I can't be upset at this Hertz location over that, that's a corporate decision.) Called the day of pickup to ask what was on the lot. Was told none of those were available at that time but that cars were being returned and I would definitely get something in my class. When I showed up there was nothing from that class. There was also nothing to upgrade into, no larger cars or SUVs. They offered me cars from the next class smaller. It was a parade of cars in poor shape. The first one they put me in had a big buldge in a tire sidewall. Last thing I need on a long road trip is a blowout, car should not even be rented locally. Next car offered had a ripped seat and cigarette odor. Next car offered was not washed/vacuumed, but by this point I had wasted enough time looking at cars and needed to start my trip, so I took it as-is. Once I started driving, I quickly noticed 3 things: brakes needed work, one tire had a loud "whomp whomp whomp" noise to it, and the steering wheel was pointing at 2 o'clock to make the car go straight down the road. Car needed an alignment at least, maybe suspension work. I didn't have time to turn around, return to the office and hope they had something better. This was the 3rd dud I had looked at, and my hopes they had anything in great shape were dashed so I pressed on. I did get there safely. In the defense of Hertz corporate, I called to complain, and they refunded part of my rental fee and said the car in question would be pulled from rotation and repaired. That is the only thing preventing this from being a 1 star review. read more

This has to be the only Hertz location I have ever dealt with that has zero customer service awareness. The person that I dealt with was too busy answering phones and playing on his cell phone to give me any sort of customer service that approached acceptable. Really all I wanted to do was sign the paperwork and pay. It took almost 30 minutes to get to that point and then before I swipe a major credit card, I ask if the do something stupid and pre-charge and I am told they pre-charge it for $200. A credit card. None of their competition does that (that I am aware of). Yes Progressive does for debit cards, but that is understandable. So to start the trip for our honeymoon, I told him to cancel my reservation so I can go elsewhere. No apology was even offered. Will never be back. read more

If I could give this location less than 1 star, I would. I was hit from behind in an accident in mid November of 2014. My insurance covers a rental ( I had to start the claim through my insurance because the at fault party's company was dragging their feet, and I needed to get my car fixed, and get back to work), and Hertz is the first company they referred me to. I called and made a reservation. I went to the location where the reservation was made and guess what? They had ZERO cars for rent. Not one single car, and I was told by the snot behind the counter that they had cars coming back, but those were going to other people, so too bad, come back tomorrow. This girl was a complete waste of space. Her attitude filled the room, and she was nasty as could be. So the next day rolls around, and before I asked for a ride to the facility to pick up a car, I called to make sure they had a car for me. The same nasty girl answered and said there was no car for me and then told me "Sorry if this is inconveniencing your clearly important plans", with so much snark behind it, it could have moved a truck. No. I'm sorry, but this is not how you give customer service. Apparent;y. her co-worker, Seth, heard her end of the phone exchange, because I received a call from him about a half hour later apologizing for her behavior. But alas, too late. I already called my insurance and demanded they call another company to deal with because Hertz is terrible. I went through Enterprise, they were very pleasant, had a nice car for me, and no attitude was involved. I will never use Hertz again. Not just this location, but the entire company. The nasty pos working at the Parma location lost them a customer forever. read more

One of the worst car rental experiences. We reserved a full-size car for a trip to New York City, but we're "upgraded" to an SUV with inadequate leg room. The vehicle had a leaky tire which wasn't discovered until we were on the road the next morning-a Sunday, forcing us to stop and add air along the way. Hertz instructed us to take the car to Newark Airport to exchange it, then charged us a refueling fee after we went an hour out of our way to get a safe vehicle. Total fail of customer service after explaining my ordeal when I finally returned from our trip. No apologies...no refund of the fuel surcharge. This place is a complete rip off! I paid out of pocket over $700 for a two week rental. Ruuuun!!!! That included their insurance which is a joke. $17 a day. I was told if I didn't get the insurance, my insurance company would be billed for even a chip in the windshield. And the car was a piece of crap. Then there were mysterious charges billed when I turned the car in. For God knows what. So today I have to take some vacation time to investigate and fix the shambles my bank account is in for random unexplained charges. By all means stay away!!! read more

This Hertz has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I walked in and the bell rang and the store was completely empty, but I heard employees in the back. I opened the door once again and still nobody to be seen. I encountered a problem when they would not assist me at all in working with me about my drivers license and the second I sat down everyone disappeared once again. Someone peeped their head in to see if anyone was there and asked if I was being helped, I said "well I have no idea where he went" and he just closed the door and walked away. I was involved in an auto accident due to another driver blowing through a red light. That persons insurance company had to spring for a rental car for me and obviously didn't spring far! Customer service could have been better. I didn't really appreciate the 400 questions about my auto accident two days prior. Nor did I appreciate the almost hour and a half it took him to get through the process. The lovely part to the story is the car I received was a Corolla with a missing hub cap, huge dent in the back bumper, scratches along the side, the odor of butt in the car, dried coffee (I hope) on the inside of the door and ceiling, straw wrappers on the floor, and someone's nasty feet prints on the inside of the dirty windshield. I pointed some of these things out to the guy before leaving and he didn't seem to care. Just handed me the keys. read more

State Farm repair so needed a rental. Car #1 smelled on vomit but since I didn't pick up or drive the car, I didn't notice until half way to Dayton. In Dayton tried to exchange but couldn't as none of the offices were "corporate." Returned to Cleveland in vomit car and the office very nicely had me come in to exchange to a different car. Brought out car #2. I was speechless. Crushed food all over the floor, what appeared to be tupperware for a child's snack on the floor. Seats horribly stained. How could you even bring this car out? Car #3 had just been returned so i waited for it to be cleaned. It was not the best cleaning job but it had to do as I had to leave. My repair was done and I returned the car to the repair shop. I called as instructed and let the Hertz office know the car was ready. I returned to the dealer/shop the next day for some other work and the rental was still there. I called a second time to let them know the car had been returned. When State Farm was finally billed, they were billed for 4 additional days. Though not my money, I reached out to state farm and let them know. Two weeks later and they still haven't been paid the refund. I see in reading these reviews, a pattern of business practices that are beyond poor if not scam-worthy. Steer clear and shame on state farm for not heeding all of these experiences. read more

Key fob failed, I had to replace, they did not reimburse me claiming insurance pending. Insurance was to pay, (not mine, but the guy who totaled my vehicle). Let me tell you something. Hertz will steal your money. I had to rent a car from Hertz after I was rear-ended on the highway. The first car they gave me I accepted excess insurance on. The very next day I had the car the check engine light came on, so I went back to Hertz and got a different car and told them to cancel the excess insurance. I repeated this 3 times to the woman. Apparently 3x was not enough and two months later I had over $870 taken out of my bank account. Hertz has been dragging their feet at giving me back my money. They have been horrible to not only me but my lawyer and my personal insurance. They lie and they are a horrible Company please do not go with Hertz go with Esurance they are a wonderful car rental company and I have never had an issue with them. I made a prepaid reservation at 9am saturday to go out of town, I would have made it earlier but this is the time they open. I arrived at 9:03 am on a tight schedule this is why I prepaid the reservation. When arriving I was told have a seat I will be with you in a moment. After fiddling around on the computer for 8-10 minutes he takes the person before me with no reservation. Finally when it was my turn he tells me they have a ford Escape for me (I paid for a suv). This is considered an suv which is a joke because it is smaller than a car which would be cheaper. I told him I wanted a car instead and he told me there was none availablebut he could get me into a rogue for 20$ more I TOLD HIM NO THANKS I coud have gotten a full size for that if I had known that they would be giving me a little crossover for 50$. So in turn I was cramped in this tiny "suv" for a 4 hour trip. Upon return they authorized another 100$ on my card because they were closed on sunday, upon calling customer service to file a complaint I told them dont you think they should have told me that the " computer " will automatically authorize my card for another 100$ because they are closed sunday and can not check the car in. She tells me she can not comment on their policies at the local hertz store. I asked if they are the same company? she said they are, I told her well then they should have universal policies throughout the company. NEVER NEVER again I will pay a little more for a professional experience next time going to enterprise. read more

Unethical and awful business practices! Nasty, threatening manager! Warning: this offices uses BAIT & SWITCH pricing - they provide one daily rate and deposit rate over the phone for insurance claims, then drive you to their office where you are STUCK and then double the daily rate and triple the deposit. This happened to me this morning with my insurance claim rental. Mitch stated last night daily rate of around $20 and deposit of $50. Bryce from their office picked me up from auto body shop - they insist on driving you to their office to use your credit card. Bryce re-stated rates from last night. When I arrive at their office, magically the daily rate is now $32 with a $200 deposit because "our system won't accept insurance rate". I asked for a manager. I heard the conversation with Mitch and his manager. The manager came out smirking telling me that the new rate is what I have to pay. When I told him he must honor the rate quoted last night and this morning, he said that he was trying to be reasonable. I told him if he didn't honor the rate I would begin tweeting about their unethical business. The manager refused to provide his name to me and then threatened to call the police because I was "trespassing" after he told me to leave when I asked for his name. Rude, unethical and unprofessional manager, bait & switch pricing at this office. Renters beware! Enterprise up the street picked me up and provided a car. They have heard this story multiple times too. The manager's name is Larry. This would be ZERO stars - please use another company so you are not screwed over and stuck in their office. read more

Go with enterprise! Hertz lied to me multiple times about trying to get ahold of and deal with my insurance. Come to find out, they didn't try at all. A month after I had everything settled and covered by my insurance, they charged me almost $600 without a warning. They blamed the fact that they couldn't get ahold of progressive. When I talked to my adjuster she flipped out because she said she's made multiple phone calls every day to get my situation figured out when hertz told me they tried every day to get ahold of progressive, which she said never happened. I just find it insane that they don't call you before they charge you $600 a month after the car was returned. Now I have to drive to Parma to the progressive office to get a check from progressive so I can put it in my bank before I overdraw and accrue fees. Hertz is a shit show. And this isn't the first time they've let me down and inconvenienced me. GO WITH ENTERPRISE read more
