Last month, we received a car with a dent in the rear and brake light brojken, but no big deal - agents came out to lot and noted it in contract, just took longer than usual. NEW Executive Elite Policy: We just picked up our monthly week long rental and were helped by a cordial trainee Brittany, which we had never met, but the first thing I hear from her (maybe something new at this location) is that at this location National Executive Elite members who book certain car class (our company books our travel so no clue and we have no choice over car type) will not be upgraded, even if cars are available. She then proceeded to give us a car with close to 30,000 miles, which is ok if you are renting from alamo or enterprise but have never had that high mileage on national car rentals. She then had to call the area manager, a jason i.?, to get approval to change the 30,000 mile car to another one (?) Confused, and while Brittany was very nice - A lot of wasted time on what is usually an easy pleasant in and out rental. What is happening at this great location and these new restrictive executive elite rental policies? Can't we just keep it simple and great as it had always been at this location?

Only a positive experience, from beginning to end, with Avis rent a car…read more *Reasonable rates during post covid when other agencies are astronomical. *Avis had cars available when other agencies had none - post covid. *When my flight was delayed 3 times I called Avis to let them know I would be late. They had my flight number and were already aware of the later arrival. Additionally, the leasing agent assured me she would not close until after I had picked up the rental car. *Avis is very convenient, inside the airport, and next to Baggage Claim. Car parking lot is next to airport. No shuttling across town to your car. *Positive experience from beginning to end.

He told us that all of the nicer higher level cars had been recalled. All cars from all different brands were recalled? That does not make sense. He offered us a Corolla. I told him this was too small of a car for me to get in and out of and he said it was the same size as a Camry, which is incorrect. He kept offering us an SUV which I cannot get into. Finally, the woman at the budget counter beside of him Told him they had a Chevy Malibu available so that is what we received. Apparently the two companies share cars. The car was nice and worked fine, but we were supposed to get the "better" car. We should have received a discount or something for this. Next was a nightmare. The parking lot to pick up the car was a long distance walk from the airport. I did not think I was going to make it. it was extremely hot outside, so standing and waiting on him to get it would not have been a help. I had already went down a steep ramp to get outside and did not want to walk back up yet to go back into the air-conditioned airport and then walk back down again. this man saw that I was disabled. He saw that I had a Rollator walker. We told him multiple times that I had to have a midsize car. He should've told us how far the parking lot was to pick up the car and recommended that I stay inside and let my husband pick me up. Honestly, they should offer to bring the car up to the customer. Extremely disappointed. Will never use AVIS again.

The employee processed me and quickly pointed me in the direction of my vehicle. He was polite, helpful and wasn't pushy when trying to sell me extras that I didn't want. When I dropped the vehicle off at noontime on Saturday, nobody was there, but a drop-box made it much more convenient. This was my first time using Avis after having previous bad experiences with Enterprise. One advantage with Avis is they always start you off with a full tank of gas, as opposed to Enterprise which could start you off with a quarter of tank (it's very difficult to judge your fuel mileage so you return it the same way). Avis' policy of starting you off with a full tank avoids that problem. The car was very clean - it looks like they must clean it after each rental. Instead of getting a ride there, I parked my personally owned vehicle in the airport parking lot (didn't trust it for the long-distance drive I was making). Since Stewart Airport chased away all of the major airlines and hardly does any business, the long-term parking lot was nearly empty, and I was still able to park close enough to walk to Avis and only paid $10 to park for 24 hours.

I get to SWF to find out they are only open when they have a reservation from an arriving flight. UGH! There is no one there and when you call Alamo 800 #, they say, oh yes, sure they are open, have airport security page them as they must be just away from the desk momentarily. Clueless. I call the number listed on the notice pasted at the desk. They tell me to get to the Enterprise location 5 miles away, they will honor the reservation. I wait 30mins and pay $12 for a cab to Enterprise at 63 Route 17K in Newburgh, only to be told they will honor the reservation, but not the price. Two very unfriendly, very unhelpful men could not have cared less about my predicament. UGH!! I call Alamo 800# again and they are sorry but since covid has effectively closed the airport, they are not offering what they call local rentals to anyone not arriving via plane. When I tell her hotwire/priceline/kayak are still offering rentals at SWF, she says she is sorry, but cannot control what they do. I learned my lesson NEVER RENT from ALAMO or ENTERPRISE.

The vehicle that we rented was a Toyota Camry SE hybrid got great gas mileage was clean and there were no problems going to Tennessee or returning from Tennessee. As we were going to have this car for over 14 days we wanted to get it exchanged. The exchange process was harrowing. We needed to do a road side assistance claim and request a new vehicle. It was difficult for them to find one in the area but finally they did. The counter employee - Robin - was very nice and understanding about our situation. She did at first say there were no vehicles but she did find one for us. We are so thankful to her for her kindness and helpfulness in our vehicle exchange. She is the reason for the five stars!! It surely does seem that the car rental business as a whole has changed for the worse. But with employees like Robin, there is still hope. Thank you.

Once inside, the check in was fast and so was getting through Security. Everyone in the airport was super friendly and helpful. Once through security, there are only a few shops so there isn't much to do. However, the food was way cheaper than you would expect to see at an airport. Returning here and getting our luggage was just as smooth and easy.
