Absolute horror show. Rented from 6520 E 82nd st, Indy. Called THE DAY BEFORE I LEAVE FOR A TWO WEEK TRIP saying the vehicle I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR wasn't available. Called Customer Service. First guy hung up on me. Sounded like they were in a baby nursery. 2nd could barely speak English, still a ton of noise so we could barely speak. First of all, these reviews that I see about this place is honestly just beyond stupid. This place is honestly one of the best rental locations that I know other than the one that is near me. This location truly makes a bad day into a good day! The counter people at the front desk are PHENOMENAL! They know what they are doing and I noticed they were have an issue with the system and they had grabbed their branch manager which I believe his name is Korey?, he was awesome in assisting his colleagues and making sure everything was smooth sailing from there. Hours later, I get a call from some person who knows they have ZERO customer service, and said that they've way overbooked and I was cancelled AND no, a refund is not automatic, that I'd have to call a number and chase it down. I arrived at 10:15 a.m., on a Monday, a bit early for my reservation to pick up a full sized car. There were about 5 people ahead of me, there were two agents clearly working as effectively as they could to take care of everyone. One agent even had to deal with a customer arguing that his driver's license was in fact VALID despite the fact it expired 9 years prior! I can tell you the agent had much more patience than I could have exhibited in that situation! I did however remain patient until it was my turn and although we had reserved a full size car - non were available - SO - I got an upgrade to an SUV. But that was actually an advantage for me, with the exception of a bit more gas usage, as I was driving a huge load of my son's massive Lego collection that he wanted to have to share with his son. The SUV performed perfectly for my 13 hour drive, the return the next morning went smoothly and I have nothing but compliments for the entire experience. read more

Amazing, totally blown away. Reading the reviews on Yelp about Hertz, what has our society come to. The people here are at hertz are amazing. And these reviews explains why sometimes they are not so happy I have seen many people come through here to work. Being a road warrior I rely on Yelp for a mess of stuff. I have been renting autos for 10 years for work. After Reading the reviews on hertz, I have come to the dubious conclusion people are just bat Poo crazy. BTW bearing false witness is wrong. Hertz unfortunately does not have a car dispenser out back with a million dollar inventory waiting. They rely on people bringing back cars on time and not needing a 5 hours to clean for next renter. Any body know how much the $50,000 suburban xl you want to rent or a $30,000 Malibu for $50.00 a day with your Groupon costs to replace? Let me tell you this, The $175.45 you have on you bank debit card to cover the rental is not going to cover the cost of the car if there is a problem like you got hit, hit someone, or you just got plain stupid trying to show off. Arrived on time for my rental. Lobby has customers but no one from Hertz to be found. One of the customers started the employees were cleaning cars. They don't have the staff to greet customers and check them in. Now there are 4 men here. Two customers got checked in but they have left me again. read more

Big thanks to hertz for helping me during an unpleasant experience of being hit by an uninsured driver. Thankfully this was my first accident, but I'll admit I was nervous about the whole process. My insurance covers rental cars so I picked the closest one to my place, to my surprise they even picked me up from the collision center, that was one of my biggest fears was getting from the collision to the rental center, and hertz said don't worry we will come get you. The actual rent a center is great! It's in-between Einstein bagels and a law office, very friendly staff who got me right into a car and on my way. They were short staffed, and the young lady kept apologizing, but I told her not to worry she's only one person and not to worry. A quick and painless process, I'm glad they were able to assist me. Plus! When my car is fixed I can leave it at the collision center and they will pick it up :) read more

My daughter rented here and pre-paid online. She followed all of Hertz's rules to use a debit and was refused her car when she went to pick it up. I arrived to assist her renting a car and the employee was condescending and rude to my daughter and friend in front of me! I was trying to reserve the car I had already rented for an extra day because I had overlapped my personal schedule. I was on hold for over 35 minutes. Back when I went to pick up the car last week, they tried to rent me an SUV with a big dent in the drivers side door. When I went to check out the trunk, the hatchback wouldn't open at all. I asked for another vehicle, and that was no problem. The vehicle they gave me wasn't washed, but quickly swept out. They gave me a voucher for a free car wash at Sparkling Image up the road. The lady who helped me seemed new and very anxious. My experience at this specific location was very mediocre. Not worth the credit check to say the least. UPDATE 8/30/2019 I haven't gotten my deposit back and no one knows why. No one knows why they took out an additional $54 out of my account on top of the $200. I'm never going back here again. If I could give 0 stars I would. I had my car for 24 days and returned the car the last day of my insurance coverage. I've got a current charge of 45$ on my account for what at first they told me was fuel and now it's because my insurance didn't cover the days I had my rental. I have a 600$ policy coverage. My car was 25$ A day. If you do the math 25 x 24= 600$ In total. Second. I have bank transactions showing the cost to fill that vehicle up is around 30$. I returned the vehicle with one tick under full. How can I be charged 45$ For a car that doesn't even take 45$ to fill up. This is ridiculous and honestly such a scam. Horrible experience! I rented a cargo van that had break light out, electrical wiring issue that kept saying doors ajar when going 65 mph. Vehicle interior lights would come on inside by touching plastic and not to mention given vehicle filthy and with no gas! A nightmare to deal with customer service, you end up speaking to someone in El Salvador and they don't offer reimbursement or refund only pathetic $hertz rental credit! Vehicle was not safety checked before being rented to me. Never again Hertz! Never! I had to take $100 taxi ride to airport to pick up my replacement vehicle! I will never rent from this location again. I made a reservation and my car was not ready. I witnessed one of the employees not offering alternatives to a man who had to get a ride just so he could get his rental car and be back on work on time. He came from over 40 minutes away. The employee then proceeded to tell the distraught customer about another customer who came from further away and they would not help her either. Again, how is this helpful? The employee also blamed employee shortage as well as lack of car availability for why he couldn't help the customer. He finally took me to my car which was so dirty that I had to run it through the car wash myself. The car on the outside was damaged. This also wasn't the car I wanted and I was told I would get a discount for taking a lesser car than I wanted and I didn't even get that. This location is utterly sexist. I made a reservation online with my credit card (I'm an authorized user under my husband's account). When I came in to pick up my car, they refused to give it to me because the credit card was in husbands name. When I told them I do not have credit cards in my name and am only an authorized user, they told me a I cannot rent a car. This is ludicrous and shows a complete lack of common sense. I reserved a car online to be picked up at this location. When I arrived I was told that no cars were available and would not be for "a couple of days". They were extremely rude and unhelpful. I called the Hertz 800 number to find out why I was allowed to reserve a car that was not available. I was told this location failed to update the reservation system with their available cars. I was told the manager or area manager for this location would call me about the problem. Still no call after 2 days. I would recommend steering clear of this location. read more

My car had been broken into and the back window was busted out while I was at a rehearsal dinner and I needed a car for the wedding the next day. My insurance set me up with a car but from a location that wouldn't be open for two days. I called this Hertz location and explained my situation and had the quickest and painless experience I've ever had when renting a car. He even stayed open a few minutes longer to wait for me to get there. When my car was finally repaired I didn't have a ride home from dropping off the rental and they understood and had no problem with me leaving the rental at the mechanics so they could pick it up the next day. Made a reservation for a van back in August. Found a coupon for a great rate. They called yesterday to verify that I would be picking up the van today. When we arrived at the pick up time, I was told they didn't have my car. Then they offered me a replacement that was not going to be near as big as the van. The employee was rude and disrespectful. We had words and he pretty much kicked us out of the office. Did they not expect that we would be extremely upset by this??? Called their 1800 number and was told a regional manager would be in contact with us soon. Nine hours later, still no call from anyone. Now my senior citizen parents will have to drive separately from the family. Not a great way to start Christmas vacation. Will never use hertz again, should have stuck with Enterprise. I was in an auto accident and my rental car was covered by insurance. My agent called and made the original reservation. Hertz followed up with me, set my reservation for day, time and location, and gave me a confirmation number. I showed up and was told that I had no first come first serve choice of vehicle as I did not show as being on their books. I explained that I was told I would have some sort of choice and offered to give my confirmation number as proof of my reservation. He said no matter what it did not matter to him. I was not on the books and that was final. My agent and I were completely stumped. They called me to confirm and finalize everything... how was I not on the books. The new staff at this location is awful!! They do not know the corporate policies and different people tell you different things. I rented a car and they did not say anything about an additional driver fee (almost doubles the daily rate!). In fact, they only asked me for my license and reservation number and when I stepped out to get the additional driver they processed everything and gave the keys and contract to the additional driver without me even being there---even though I am the one responsible for the charges!! When I asked about why my discount wasn't applied, they said that the car was not reserved using the discount and that it was my problem. I was told I would be contacted by manager but never contacted. Even if it was not in their power to waive any fees--a little courtesy, maybe even an apology of how things were handled would have gone a long way! Previous staff here was very courteous and helpful...but now will be trying to avoid using this location! read more
