They have on multiple occasions not had the vehicle that was reserved and/or the vehicle that was given wasn't properly serviced

1. My first car here was an electric car that would not charge. I called customer service and then had to drive to the Airport Hertz to replace it. I was told by the Airport Hertz that this was due to weather and that the Independence Hertz would have known this. So they gave me a car they knew wouldn't work. 2. The replacement rental the Airport Hertz rented me needed an oil change, which the Independence Hertz told me the Airport Hertz would've known this. 3. I had to do a new rental because the card I originally used was stolen. A. Absolutely ridiculous that there's no way to just update the card on file. B. The second rental is almost $100 more a week, and the man at the counter did not explain why. This transaction also took FORTY minutes. No compensation has been offered despite receiving TWO cars from this company that had problems. Just go to Enterprise. read more

Got a vehicle with hail damage all over it...enough said. The vehicle was not even clean very well.

Not bad for a last minute rental! I visited 3 other locations along Noland Rd on Tuesday 8/1/2023, most had no availability and 1 had issues with their card reader. The process at Hertz was made simple, fast, and easy! They were able to get me in a luxury electric car the same day and for a good price. I did have to wait an hour for the car to get cleaned, but I spent that time getting dinner and the rep kept being sincere with the delay. rented a car through local car dealership from Hertz ( 39th & Noland Rd. Indep..mo 64055) the first thing that caught my eye was 2 large printed signs that decalared NO PUBLIC RESTROOMS. I felt like they should have added NO SERVICE FOR YOUR MONEY...and I'd be right...the car was filthy, when I asked about that I was told the inside was clean...it wasn't, 45 min to get in a dirty disgusting vehicle...have to pay extra for domestic cars read more

This place didn't have the car that I reserved... which I don't know why I would do a reservation if I don't even get the car I want. I went in and one lady was doing her job on the phone and the woman that was free was like oh I can't help you because my leg is hurt? What? You do everything from your chair?! The low star review is worth noting before trying to use this service. Because they will nickel and dime you with charges that are not warranted. I got charged for gas despite having a recipe and picture of the gas tank. Rude costumer service (I talked to Brandy). After giving them my evidence and saying I wouldn't accept the fact my fuel tank was not 100% full they said they would reimburse me but it would take 6-8 weeks for the refund to go through. I'll let you guess. The refund never went through. 20$ is 20$. It may not be enough for some people to argue over, but they charged me even when rightfully they shouldn't and with proof. I absolutely would not recommend this place for your services. I had to use it because it was covered by the insurance of the guy who hit me. Now I am deeply regretting not going a further distance for better rated service. The car worked but that's about all the positive you can get out of me for this location. Rented a mid sized sedan on Monday for $59. Needed a car for Tuesday and Wednesday due to an auto repair and they quoted me over $200 for a Sub Compact! Natalie at the Noland Road location was obviously trying to take advantage of the situation. It's called extortion! read more

Worst. Place. Ever. The manager Michelle Wilson is extremely unprofessional and condescending to customers. I had to call 5 times before she would even talk to me. Other employers had left her multiple notes to call me over the course of four days and she still never called me. I finally called again and she answered, then hung up on me. I called right back and a different employee answered, transferred me to her, and then she tried to claim she didn't even previously answer the phone. Hertz is only out there to squeeze every dime they can out of a customer with extra charges. I will never use again. read more

I prebooked a full size car as I did for my previous trip, and when I got to hertz the Asst manager of the independence location told me they didn't have a full size car, as I told him I didn't want an SUV because they don't get as good gas miliage so I contacted there General office the store manager was suppose to call me which he hasn't, I spent 90 dollars more in gas then I did with the car. Anyone needing to rent a car, DO NOT go through Hertz! They gave us a car that had already been returned by a couple because there was an issue with the tire and instead of fixing it they turned around and rented it to us. We spent most of our Saturday on our vacation 3 hours away from home at mechanics trying to get this tire fixed. Had to call their emergency roadside assistance (that they we paid an additional 8.99 a day for), sat on hold for all together about 2.5 hours until we finally got ahold of someone and they said to call them back when we got to the mechanic they deal with so they can pay for the tire, still had to pay the $127 for a tire out of our pocket because we sat on hold at that mechanic for an hour and a half before they call disconnected and now they are saying they can't reimburse us for the money for the tire. So, they put our family in a car that they KNEW was not safe to drive, we spent a good portion of our vacation fixing the problem, and now we are out the money we paid to fix it. We will NEVER deal with Hertz again and we recommend no one else does either unless they enjoy putting their family in danger and being out hundreds of dollars. read more

Horrible!!!!!!!!!! Do not use this company they will rob you. I rook back a car with a full gas tank to avod any charge. Instead they charged me 139.86 witch is 14 gal of gas the car could hold 14 gal so what did i do sifin the gas out in the parking lot. Warning! This place rips off their customers with bogus charges. We had a rental car through The Jeep dealership while or car was being worked on. When we returned the car the gas tank had to be full so we filled up at the QT right across the street and left the car at the dealership assuming all would be good. Wrong! They charged me $20.38 for gas! The tank was full! Unfortunately we have one of their cars now as our car is being serviced again through the dealership so we have no choice. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! I went online to car rentals.com and they quoted me $75 (with taxes)---and to be picked up/dropped off @ airport. When I booked it, I was taken to Independence, MO and they were to charge me 135!!~~total crooks ...stay away! read more
