We rented a vehicle that was damaged that we took a video of at pickup. 2 weeks after we returned it, we received a letter charging us $450 for ashes in the ashtray. New cars do not have ashtrays and we don't smoke. We don't have children or pets so the charge for cleaning was ridiculous. My husband called very upset. They offered to charge us $225! That's not acceptable. We picked up the car in Grandview and dropped it off at the airport. It's probable that the person that retrieved the car, smoked in it, if it did indeed smell. do not rent from avis!!!....i reserved a full-size suv comparable to a suburban to travel out of state for a funeral...however, upon arrival,the only vehicle available was a much smaller hyundai santa fe-this was already a significant issue...pressed for time ,i accepted the vehicle ,but it quickly became clear that it was not safe to drive. the suv consistently pulled to the right as though it needed a front-wheel alignment or tire balancing. even more concerning the tires were worn down and nearly bald. while on the highway the oil indicator light illuminated adding to the list of serious safety concerns. i drove this vehicle from kansas city, missouri to arkansas and it was extremely difficult to keep it stable on the highway. this experience makes it very clear that avis does not properly maintain it's fleet of vehicles. for the safety of future customers, i strongly urge avis to address these maintenance issues immediately.... read more

Rented a vehicle for a day. Was offered after hours drop off for an additional fee that I agreed to. Guy ends up charging me for two days. It took me 4 phone calls to get my money that they owed me back. Three of them said it was impossible, one tried to make a deal and offer half of what they owed me. Finally I said "this isn't deal or no deal, I want the money back that you owe me." (I was told there was a $300 deposit, they returned $200 and said I was charged for another day) bull shit. You're not coming up on my dollar. I will not be using Avis anymore. Oh and I asked for corporate number and she gave me the telephone number to the place I picked up the car lol! ‍ read more

I rented a car through usaa and avis. The vehicle was clean, premium as ordered, large trunk, hybrid... and I spent less than $35 in gas for a 170 mile round trip drive with sightseeing and used it for Halloween as well just because. It had adaptive cruise control which I wasn't familiar with, but being a computer guy, had figured out in minutes. This plus efficiency, heated and cooled seats, easy key fob etc. made the trip that much more relaxing and comfortable. To top it off, the gentlemen who served me at the pickup and drop-off were prompt, courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. I've been on the phone 28 minutes to get a plate number to pay a toll. the owner operator was very rude and uses an outdated credit card reader and said my card was the issue. the card works everywhere but there. do not support this location. let them get an enterprise in grandview. read more

I had a great experience renting through this Avis location! I rented the car for 10 days. Car was clean when I picked it up and functioned properly. Overall the experience was very pleasant, fast, and easy! I would recommend this company and location and will definitely consider them if renting services are needed in the future. read more

Would like to thank avis. New owner the tall ethiopan guy. Lol for making corrections on my bill. The mistake was made accidentally by the previous owner mr chris. My bill was adjusted back to the original 154.00 dollars. Instead of the previous bill of over 600 dollars. Due to a misplaced key. And mix up on return day. My experience at this location was the best. I had a last minute issue where I prepaid online and the Burlington Location would not help me and wouldn't even give me any options. But at soon as I called the Grandview location I was greeted on the phone with a "How are you an how's your day. How may I be of service" . I told him my issue at the other location and even though he was closing the Owner said he will stay open until I get there to help me. I got there in 15 minutes before closing and was greeted by name because he took the time to remember me. Mr. Chris gave me options that the Burlington location did not. I was told I can always call and come on down. My business stays at Avis location in Grandview with Mr. Chris. Thank you for your awesome service, and willingness and positive attitude. If I could give them zero stars I would but I had to give them one due to the system. Where do I start 1 we made it there to pick up the car the representative felt the need to spend the first 30 minutes talking on the phone rather then paying attention to the customer in front of her. 2. The car had a strong odor of marijuana we complain of the smell my husband was told there were no other cars available and we could either leave the car or take it since we paid for it anyway. 3 there were drugs in the car under the seats and in the console we had to call our attorney to have the contents removed. 4 We had to have the car shampooed and detailed in order to get the smell out of the car so that our kids would feel comfortable in the car and so that if we got pulled over we wouldn't have to sit through a long ass search. 5 we were told that we would receive a refund it was on the receipt we didn't get the refund 6 when this office was confronted about the refund the manager who stated he would give the refund turned around and stated he can't promise it tho it's on the receipt 7 we then had to call corporate which was a headache and showed exactly how shady this company is. Lucky for us we had previously contacted our attorney took videos and photos of the car and had the attorney pick up the illegal contents in the car we also had the paperwork from Avis stating the smell and contents found and removed from their car so corporates case was and still is pretty weak. I honestly would advise everyone to go to enterprise since they're right there right before you get to this horrible business or another rental place save yourself the headache and lack of professionalism . Every time I've rented from Avis I've had an issue with them this was the one that took the cake I will no longer use them and I will urge others to do the same. I will also be reporting them to the BBB. I've grown sick of businesses who don't value their customers or the money that we spend with them so in order to get results we have to learn to hit them where it hurts in their pockets.
