I've gone here for two years for my car rental for work and honestly both experiences has been so smooth and great. Irene at the front desk has great customer service and shows you your vehicle options for your trip. Cars are always clean and tidy with no smell. Poor customer service. It was just before 12:30PM. I came to pick up a rental scheduled by my car dealership (Hendricks Chevy). The person at the counter confirmed my rental so I told my wife she could leave. The service rep asked for Drivers Licenses and insurance. I gave him my DL and showed him car insurance ID on my phone. He said he needed a hard copy to scan. I asked if I could emails him a copy. He said no. I needed the rental so I recalled my wife and had to return with a hard copy of my insurance. As soon as I stepped out side he locked the door and put up out to lunch sign 12:30-1:30 (it was 12:40). On my return he I gave home the hard copy of my insurance and he said he didn't needed that and just wanted a credit card. I believe he didn't want to service me because it was going to cut into his lunch. Who shows up to a rental without a credit card. The shop is a one person operation that's why he can get away with poor service, no one cares. read more

Having to spend money on a rental car is never fun, but my current car wouldn't make it to Avila Beach and so I decided to rent. I originally was going to get a Toyota but upgraded to a Tesla because it was available, and this is our honeymoon trip. I enjoyed the car so much, and the lady at the front was super kind and helpful. She had a great personality and was enjoyable to talk with. I have to return the car today and I'm sad because I enjoyed it so much lol. It definitely has encouraged me to work harder and save up. Thank you Hertz for the good service! We saw the bad reviews and were anxious about getting a car for one way to Texas but the clerk was courteous and quick Returning it was easy and the car was a very good substitute. We had a nightmare scenario with a rental car booked with a competitor a couple weeks prior. So the process in finding a car had a lot to do with NOT using Enterprise Rent a car. When we found this rental so close to home, it was a great combination of timing and actual customer service. We booked a car earlier that day. It was ready for us to pick up right away. Check out was exceptionally quick. We dropped off the car at our destination and it all went off without a problem. Rented a car in May for trip to SF. Had a blowout at the Oakland Bay Bridge. AAA towing towed the car to a AAA approved tire shop. Had the tire replaced, which Hertz told me I had to pay. Upon inspection of the car, and knowing that I would be driving back to Fresno, the tire company told me, "All tires are below 2/32. They need to be replaced as soon as possible. The tires are not safe to be used on a rental." Do not drive the car with these tires. Exchanged the car in SF, and had a safe trip home. Checking with Hertz, was told because of the condition of the tires, I would be reimbursed for the cost of the tire. Now, a month later, still no reimbursement for the tire and no return calls from the store or area manager. Wish I had read these reviews. Stay away from this Clovis store, bad news. read more

I rented a car for 7 days. I have reservations and paid for it on line. I went in on Monday morning at 1015 to to pick up the car and they said I was not there at 830. They gave my car away and I had to go to the hertz in Fresno to pick up a car. The person was very rude to me even though it was paid for and a gold member. Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service! Went online and made a reservation last night, went to pick up the car today and told they don't take debit cards! No mention of that on there website, AND the website accepted my card! Then to make matters worse had to go back online to cancel...then their website wouldn't accept the reservation cancellation! Edit: misleading photos have been removed...one present is accurate. rented here probably a couple dozen times with no problems, but the last (probably last year?) ruined it, and from the reviews, it doesn't appear things have improved. reserved online at least a week ahead of time, for a noon pickup. got there around 12:30pm, with one person ahead of me. checked in, did paperwork, and waiting for car to be ready. car isn't actually ready until almost 1:15pm, get in to leave and discover it's so low on fuel the light is on. go back inside, and get the brush-off with "well that's how it was returned, and you can return it the same"...as if they couldn't have run the block down to the gas station and put $5 in it so i'd actually have enough to get to work? and since it'd taken as long as it had, i no longer HAD time before work to stop for fuel; had to just take it home and take the girl's car to work instead, and fuel it after work (so much for that early start in the morning). have also dealt with them for an insurance rental and despite their assurances of "a comparable vehicle" to my pickup, they stuck me with a 4 door sedan for the week my truck was in the shop. even reached out to customer care, who also gave me the same "they're checked out with the fuel level they're turned in with" explanation, and a "$20 off your next rental" coupon. i now deal with the extra distance and inconvenience of the airport to go to Avis, and it's been smooth dealings all the way. read more

Don't come to this hertz! I rent a car once or twice a month for work. I came to this location because it is closer to my house but I will never make that mistake again. Enterprise is down Shaw just a mile away and they actually help customers. Someone will at least say hi and acknowledge you being there. I walked in, no one was at the front desk. Completely disgusted with this place. I reserved a car through their website and went down to pick it up soon after. When I arrived at my scheduled time, I was told my car was not ready and that there were 4 people ahead of me on a waiting list. I asked if I would get a car today and the thing behind the desk (employee) rudely said no. No apologies and no explanation. I was furious, but left without incident. I waited a couple of days before writing this review so I could cool off and rethink what I would write. After two days I'm still of the opinion that this specific Hertz location is one of the most scandalous and untrustworthy operations I've ever come across. I hope they go out of business and never return. Hope this review will save someone out there from wasting their time as I did. Ridiculous!! I had a car reserved for over a week and was on my way to pick up one of our beloved members of service and got a call 10 mins before I was suppose to pick up the car that there were none available! I asked then if they could please find another location and honor the same pricing that I already booked...and of coarse not!! I was left high and dry with a simple "Im sorry mam"...called corperate office and got nothing also!! I am very disappointed in the customer service and the bs I delt with!! The staff was so friendly and took the time to clearly explain all the options. The office is conveniently located in Clovis. Our car was not running smoothly on the highway, so we called them about switching cars. An hour later we stopped at the Las Vegas Hertz and had a car ready for us. It was a n easy exchange. Absolutely horrible customer service. The sales people there(calling them that because they must make commission) don't have a clue. I had to walk home and print out an online add so they would honor there company discounts. I don't think Hertz has invested any money in training nor customer service skills. Called there "customer relations" dept who was worse then the local business. After telling my story he said nothing besides and what do you want me to do. I asked him isn't this customer service??? With no rentals available and no help to find one from any of the major rental companies in the Fresno area for a one-way trip to San Jose, Stacy at Hertz called me back and said that she had worked out a rental for me. We had to put our truck into the shop and had to rent a car to get around while it was being worked on. Hertz picked us up, had the car ready for us when we got there. Everyone was very professional and they even offered a special rate because our car was in the shop. They did everything they could to make our experience pleasant and easy and as inexpensive as possible. Next time our truck goes into the shop, we'll go back to Hertz! read more

I've rented a car from here twice for personal reasons and have not had any issues (knock on wood) During my last visit I was very politely greeted. The associate made sure I received a car I would be comfortable with since I was going on along road trip. Although customer service is decent. The car I was given was not. I have a Toyota Camry hybrid and was offered a Toyota Yaris. Not comparable at all. Due to my long distance commutes, I requested something comparable and was given a Ford Mustang - again, not comparable since its a has guzzler and a horrible ride. I was told to call back to hold something full size since they had nothing to offer. I called and was switched into a Nissan Versa. This vehicle has a few dents - I can live with that - and has a severe front end misalignment which pulls the vehicle to the right while driving. Worst experience ever! Now I'm again taking time off of work to try to switch to another car that is a full size with no issues! Ugh! I don't recommend using them - I'm only forced due to my insurance company. read more

This Hertz location is the worst! I made a reservation a week in advance of having to drive out of state for a funeral. I called Uber to get me to the location and when I got there they told me they had no vehicles!!! I paid $15 to Uber and was told to go home and wait till they had a car available for me! They did take me home, I had an early reservation, now I'm going on 3 hours late for my destination.....ridiculous!! They told me there were no other locations with cars either, which was a lie. Don't rent from this location. The individuals tried to charge me more than the online price I had already paid. They tried to up sell me on everything under the sun. I 'checked in' online, but that did nothing to speed up the process of renting and told that 'it's only for Gold members' and so I would need to wait to fill out all the paperwork. Now I just got online to look at my account and they charged my over $60 more than I signed for upon returning the vehicle and my signed receipt is even for the lower amount. I will never use Hertz car rental again. The women were rude and unprofessional (with the exception of Justine).They harassed me almost everyday asking where my wrecked car was going to be repaired. I was told by one of there rental agents that they would deal directly with my insurance company (so why are you calling me)? The fat blond hair girl was the worst of all, I should have wrote her name down so I could send my complaint to the corporate office. And when I returned the car, a man came out and looked the car over, he even looked on top of the car (really) maybe they should have looked on top of the car the first day I took the car out. This was my first time using Hertz and my last, the only reason I even used them was b/c my insurance company said they were contracted with them. Never again!!!! read more

If anybody can explain to me why the additional fees costs more than the rental car I had through my insurance company when the contract was not appropriately explained, I was rushed into the car because I had to be to work and my girlfriend had to be back to work extremely quickly without ever doing an interior tour but being guaranteed that they were aware of the damage a.k.a. burn holes, no carpet floor mats and a huge rip in the actual carpet, there are $10.90 refill fee but I was told I prepaid for gas which initially was charged to me and then magically came off the next day because I was under the assumption and was told by them it was an insurance claim so they would never bill my card without my signature, as well as the fact that I do not smoke and I was charged a smoking fee for a burn hole that I called them the same day and was made them aware of, and to top it all off... my insurance company's bill for the rental car which I could've kept for another 15 days who wanted to save some money on top since it does sometimes take a while to fix her Mercedes, their bill was $547 because they are in their carrier Circle and I was recommended by my insurance with State Farm to this dealer when I asked them for the closest rental agency to my home seeing how I hadn't had any type of operating vehicle at the time, but my fees are $603 and they charge me $10.90 for gas and when I politely complained promised me that it will be knocked back down to the normal fee of $3.20 which also was never done.... Do not ever rent from this place, I am on my way there now to hopefully work this out but if not I would rather stand out in front of their store with a big sign and never get them another Rannell down there on Shaw and Clovis in Clovis California on every free minute of every free day I have for the rest of my time in the state, then ever in 1 million years pay that bill although it's already been auto deducted from my account with no signature and no nothing which was also a promise they made that would never be done. I am livid, my insurance Company is considering dropping them from their circle of recommended car renters, but at the end of the day... Avoid Clovis and Shaw location and probably whore Hertz Corporation as a whole with everything you have or you will be out of pocket hundreds and hundreds of dollars; if anybody from Hertz wants to reply feel free but I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau, I've already contacted my insurance company, and I may even contact a lawyer but you'll know which guy it is because I'll be the one down there to the feet from your property line with a big huge sign making sure nobody ever comes and Rent-A-Car from you again and every free minute of every free second I have and on top of it I'll even hand out free directions to the next closest rental car company; highly recommend going with Avis or enterprise, I can't even say all hurts locations are bad but I can tell you this one had one car on the lot for me that was ready to drive often and I was late for work that day because of the fact that they drug their feet so long they did not even have time to do the inspection and told me to call and any problems which of course were never notated. To top it off, when you cannot get the same person on the phone but get a guarantee... Never ever trust that because now I have learned that 99.9% of the time, it will not be taking care of the way it is promised and you will end up footing the bill at the end of the day whether you like it or not. That's all I got for hurts right now but I will talk to you guys very soon today and you will see me out front on every day off I got from now till forever and every second I'm not at work you will see me and your sales will go down and we will have a very very big problem or maybe one day Somebody will grow a conscience and actually contact me and make this right; my bill should've been $17 a day plus $3.20 for the gas...I have a witness that was there when i signed, i was even promised by "manager" it would not count against me and they would adjust it. Needless to say, never happened and my personal bill was larger then State Farms and this was done on an INSURANCE CLAIM!!!! AWFUL BUSINESS, AVOID AT ALL COSTS; (if somehow this is made right i will update but i just got direct feedback from my insurance company and am on my way with bronchitis and possibly walking pneumonia to make it right or at least get a lot off of my chest) THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU, MISFILE PAPERWORK AND ONLY EXPLAIN WHAT THEY WANT, AND NEVER LET YOU SPEAK TO THE SAME PERSON TWICE AND ON TOP OF IT WAIT CLOSE TO A MONTH UNTIL THEY AUTO DEDUCT FROM THE CARD THEY SWEAR THEY CANT TAKE MONEY OFF OF, IT IS ONLY NEEDED FOR PROCEDURE!!! The ONLY reason we were at this location is because our dealership sent us there to pick up a replacement vehicle while ours was in the shop. I would NEVER choose this Hertz location for myself. The office is run-down & kind of dirty. They have this ridiculous policy wherein they will charge you $9.99 per gallon if you don't pre-pay for a full tank of gas at their specified rate (which we didn't), or bring the car back with a full tank (which we did). The car we were given was dusty & the rep said he didn't know why--despite the fact we'd called in the a.m. to tell them what time we'd be there to pick it up, and the fact that they have a car wash on the premises. It's a joke. Went in to return the car, only one person at the front desk & 2 people ahead of me---and I had to wait over 1/2 an hour! There were other staff in the office and no one could come to assist at the front desk--? This is the only time we've dealt with Hertz & based upon our experience, I will stick with Enterprise--where I always receive great Customer Service, and the vehicles are clean when I receive them!
