Rented here because the cost was much less than the airport location. Service was great, they upgraded our car, and the cost, in the end (we got it back 3 hrs. early) was less than anticipated. Oh- and we had a brand new car, less than 500 km. on it! If you're staying at a nearby hotel (which we were, for the first night of our vacation) consider this location- it's much less expensive than the airport, and walking distance from many airport hotels. Thanks, Hertz! read more

terrible place to rent a vehicle. Rented a truck in Jan, had bald, all season car tires on it. Fish tailed all over the highway. Unsafe vehicle to drive. The truck also had very stiff steering. Will never rent from them again read more

Straight up thieves. I rented a car in Marseilles France in July and still trying to get Hertz to refund the outrageous overcharges. A $400 dollar overcharge for mileage! Mysterious fees and surcharges totaling another $100. Try getting to customer service. Hertz is one of those businesses that won't allow you to speak directly to a person. You have to file your complaint online and wait 3 - 5 business days for a non-response. Is stealing from their customers part of the Hertz business model? Rent from these guys at your peril. read more

So it's cheaper than the airport (Uber there and back, still was $200 cheaper). No wait in line getting car or returning. But there were a few things that were extremely aggravating. We rented a midsize car to drive to BANFF and Jasper, and this particular employee tried to downgrade us to a mini-van instead of one of their available onsite small SUV's. We also cleaned the car before returning (because we're nice) and this same particular employee inspected the car and apparently found a few hairs in the car and started accusing us of having an animal in the car, and then took an absurdly incompetent amount of time trying to complete the checkout. The other employees were cool, nice, and professional though. This particular employee didn't seem new, I'm gonna write it off as his relative owns that branch, and that was why he wanted to downgrade our car and nail us for some invisible hairs or hairs that weren't ours Would still rent from again, just be viligant of this particular employee (you will know this person when you see them). read more

Personable person behind the counter. Car was good quality - prices reasonable. Smooth process in and out. Would recommend and reuse their services read more

This place is a joke when I was trying to help a friend out who was having trouble with his credit card they wouldn't allow me to give my information over the phone. When my friend went to pick up his car once he got his credit card issues resolved they didn't want to rent it to him based on the phone call they had received for me. Shitty customer service go anywhere but this place if you have a choice. read more

Yes, I got hammered by the Calgary hail event in July 2011 and need to send the wheelz to the shop for repair (+$$$). I need some replacements wheelz and found them with Mohammed at Hertz. I sent a random e-mail to their corporate website and received a prompt response on the specific car that I was looking for. And, better yet I was able to secure a premium rental unit at a greatly reduced price. I asked about the pricing and Mohammed stated that calling the location will mots likely score you a way better rate than their website. Mohammed = sincere, quick and efficient. Imagine that - service personnel providing service which can be a hard concept in the escalating Calgary market. Mohammed looks after Macleod Trail & 114th Ave SE locations - call him. read more

Rented a car for the May long weekend. High cost. Hidden fees. Unorganized. Wouldn't recommend using this rental company... or maybe just this location. read more

When we returned our car, the gal that checked us in pressed the wrong button on her hand held computer which finalized our transaction. We were subsequently charged $1,400 instead of $997. I called Hertz when we received the credit card charge and it was easy for the agent to see the overcharge and credit us. It was difficult to reverse the service charges/taxes and international transaction fee on my credit card. In fact two months have gone by, several phone calls and it is still not taken care of. The representatives that answer the phone are not empowered to make decisions and I was just told that the management has gone home and there is no one for me to speak with. This is very disappointing service and my customer experience is in the dumps. read more

Beware of this location because of unethical business practices. I rented from here last year and was given a car that was dripping wet. It made any minor damage and scratches difficult to see but I took the time to carefully inspect and document each and every scratch and a chip on the windshield which was acknowledged and signed off by the rental representative. I returned the car 2 weeks later and left Calgary but noticed an entry in my Visa card statement the following month showing an extra $265 charge. I called Hertz to ask and I was told it was for the chip on the windshield. I challenged and sent copies of the rental damage report prior to rental and they quickly stopped answering me. I then went Visa to file a dispute and a charge back and that took months to resolve and to finally get my $265 back. I searched online and found victims of the same scam from the same Hertz rental. I do not recommend this rental location and while you think that you might be getting a good deal upfront watch out for the extra charges. I got this rental through Priceline so I recommend that you don't use Priceline for car rentals in Calgary. read more

Excellent Service!! We rented a full size for two weeks, and 3 days for a trip to Palm Springs (5500km round trip). We checked around, and found Hertz was the best price. We walked in and were greeted by the manager. He explained the rental and provided us with the details regarding road side assistance. The transaction was quick, and we were out within 20 minutes, and on our way to Palm Springs w/in the hour. The car was great (Chevy Malibu); no problems. When we returned, we were once again greeted by the manager, and another fellow. Both very pleasant! They checked the car, and had us on the road within 20 minutes. Fast & efficient!! Excellent customer service. read more

Poor customer relations. I was charged extra for something I'm not liable for. I receive a call to be informed that my account was being closed and then at the end, the extra charges were dropped on me. read more

Booked car on line, paying 100% up front - received a nice e-mail, detailing 'included'/'not included' summary - all good, nothing further to pay...... On arrival, tired & jet-lagged, desk dolly informed me that I would be liable for 1st 500$ of any 'damage' unless I paid a FURTHER 305$ - 25% of total hire. Discussing/arguing had no affect, did not have a copy of the 'mail to support my case, so felt there was no alternative but to authorise the 305$ (Pre-swipe on card) and fight my corner later on. I managed to print out the e-mail, during the holiday, returned to Calgary ready to resolve. Neither the clerk (Same one) Nor supervisor were in the slightest interested, they maintained that the e-mail I received was incorrect, and that they were taking the 305$, and that my problem was with the sender of the e-mail........ On returning home, I sent an e-mail to Hertz 'customer services' (Huh!!) detailing what had happened, and attached original mail - they did not even bother replying. Hertz are out to extract every cent, by whatever means, they care nothing about the 'customer' other than that their credit is good. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, trust them. :-( read more

AVOID AT ALL COST!!! This rental was complimentary to us by Stampede Toyota. They gave us the car wet. The guy said he just washed it 'for us'. So we inspected it and didn't see any damage. When we went inside there are garbage, no big deal, I threw it away. Then when we got off, we saw there were small scratches in the car, we still thought, no big deal (I don't think they'll charge us for something we didn't do). We returned the car 2 days after at Toyota like we were instructed to. After a week, Hertz called us about the scratch, I tood them we didn't do it and guy said okay. I thought that was it. But I found out later that they charged our credit card. I called them about it and no one can tell us what is the charge about. I talked to a Charlie at Hertz Horizon and he told me that the car wasn't returned to them right away and it was at the airport. So I made few more calls and each time, they said they will get back to me but I always had to call back to know what was going on. Finally I talked to a David, their manager and told me that his employee said that there are no damage in the car before it was given to us. Basically, it's their words against us and I know we made a mistake trusting this company and being naive about the scratch that is not visible when car is wet. I will tell everyone about our experience so they can't rip people off anymore. read more
