If I could have left 0 stars I would have. The vehicles are reliable but their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. They are unable to help you solve problems involving their vehicles, or for that matter, help you find a satisfactory solution.
While the rates are slightly better than other car rental companies they will still get you with the mandatory insurance coverage, regardless of whether you plan on using the one your credit card company offers or if you already purchased one through a booking site. According to the company all other insurances, besides theirs, are null. Also, be aware that the coverage offered to you is based off the car msrp, not the claim value.
During one of the nights I was Mexico City I was involved in a car accident, not knowing what to do I called Hertz customer service for help. It took me 8 hours to get a hold of someone! I was able to get another car for the reminder of my stay and was told that the invoice for the damage would be ready for me at the scheduled return date.
When the return date came and I asked for the invoice I was told that it was locked in the manager's safe, whom wasn't scheduled to be there for another 3 hours. By which time I was supposed to be on a flight back home. Thus, I wasn't able to get it but that I could be sure I would be charged for the "fair" amount incurred to the vehicle.
A week later when the charges cleared I was charged a ridiculous amount for a new bumper. For a whole month,I tried getting an invoice for the damage but they simply couldn't find it.
Next time I visit Mexico City I will rather walk than rent from Hertz again. read more
