Be so careful about this place the drive and parking lot are riddled with large potholes. I dropped my husband off to pick a car and ruined my rim and my tire. Thankful there is a shell gas station close by as I noticed my tire pressure going down all the way to 3 and whoa. Hertz - Changing my flat tire as a result of the hertz parking lot - Car Rental Near Me - Houston, Texas

Dear Hertz Customer Relations Team, I am writing to formally complain about my recent rental experience and to request a full refund of my rental charges along with reimbursement for the alternative transportation l was forced to arrange as a direct result of your vehicle's failure and Hertz's inability to provide a solution. At the time of pickup, a Hertz employee conducted a vehicle inspection with me present. However, approximately 30 to 40 minutes into my drive, the air conditioning system completely stopped functioning, making the vehicle undriveable under the conditions. | immediately called Hertz customer services to report the issue. The representative confirmed that there were no replacement vehicles available in my area, leaving me with no alternative. She then instructed me to return the vehicle all the way back to the Houston branch where I had originally rented it. This was not a viable option - driving back to Houston would have caused me to be significantly late to my destination. With no solution offered by Hertz, I had no choice but to return the vehicle to the nearest available branch. Upon returning the vehicle, the agent at the drop-off branch requested that I pay for the time / had used the car. While I did not wish to cause a scene as she was polite and understanding, I made it clear that i did not consider this fair given the circumstances. She acknowledged my concern and kindly provided me with the contact details to raise a formal complaint. With no rental vehicle and no replacement offered by Hertz, I was left stranded and had to arrange my own transportation to reach my destination in New Orleans. Finding an Uber proved extremely difficult, as multiple drivers cancelled due to the long distance involved. After nearly an hour of failed attempts, 1 was finally able to secure a ride. In total, my Uber fare to New Orleans came to $262.74 + $200 cash tips To be clear, this entire ordeal -- the stranded wait, the difficulty securing transportation, and the additional costs - was a direct consequence of Hertz providing a faulty vehicle and failing to offer any meaningful assistance when I called for help. 1 am therefore requesting the following: 1. Full refund of all Hertz rental charges: $557.75 2. Full reimbursement of my Uber fare to New Orleans: $262.74 Please see the attached documents in support of my claim: * Attachment 1: Uber fare receipt confirming the transportation costs incurred * Attachment 2: Hertz payment receipt confirming the charges paid at the drop-off branch I trust Hertz will take this matter seriously and respond within 14 business days. Should 1 not receive a satisfactory resolution, 1 will escalate this to the Better Business Bureau and pursue a chargeback through my credit card provider. Thank you for your attention to this matter. TF read more

Hertz - Receipt - Car Rental Near Me - Houston, Texas

Was given a defective car with a tire issue. Then went to return it, I didn't fill it up but that shouldn't matter. There was maybe 1/8 of a tank used. They messed up and they charged me for it. Then I'm given a new rental, and I get it and the back window had been open and it was raining! I needed to go, so I left. But the car had mold spots all over the interior ceiling. The customer service could have been better. They should have waived the fuel charge given they gave me a defective tire. Also they need to repave their parking lot. The lot is full of potholes, and when it rains it becomes a lake and you can't see the potholes! read more

I was sent here after a nearby Hertz location gave my car away. I had the exact same run around as others whose vehicles were given away. I was told to come to this location to have Natasha fix a rental agreement sent to me that had been 'adjusted' for someone else to whom my vehicle had been given. I have no idea who the person was and did not want to be held responsible for their use of a vehicle. When we drove up to this location, we noticed there were only a handful of vehicles on site at their opening time of noon. Very odd. I called first to see if I could find Natasha to help. Another employee who answered the phone at this location said Natasha wasn't in but was helpful enough to call her. I overheard her tell Natasha that I was the customer for whom Annette at the Westin location had messed up the paperwork. I was then told to hold after they realized I could hear them. I was left on hold for ages. Natasha called me a while later and proceeded to make up some condescending story about why my vehicle had been given away. At one point, when I stopped her to ask her how she was going to make sure I was not held responsible for the person for whom my rental agreement had been adjusted, she said she would give me the last four digits of his credit card number. I stopped her because I did not feel comfortable, and she refused to simply do her job of fixing the agreement. When I asked her why she would give me the last four digits of a stranger's credit card, Natasha got angry and hung up on me. We then went to a nearby car rental agency and had a vehicle in fewer than 15 minutes. Hertz will not have our business, and I feel for their employees as they clearly are not given a chance to succeed by being properly trained and supported. No apologies that they did not honor my contract. It is still not clear they will not charge me for the stranger to whom they gave my rental. Stay away from this place. read more

Reserved a car for two weeks while my car is in the shop. Made sure online it was available before booking. Dropped my car off at the shop, but when I arrived here in the uber I knew I was in trouble since there was not a single vehicle out front. Lady at the front desk said she doesn't know why they let people book non-existent cars, then said only option she had was an upgrade. I objected that I had a reservation, and she said so did seven people before me. Another lady came out and when I spoke with her the first lady snapped, "She can't help you; I've been here five years, and she's new." They did call around to several other locations, and finally found one out west. I asked about the upgrade option that she had, but she then said they were all taken. [so why did she mention it to begin with?] I'm now in my second Uber heading to the other location, and hoping they actually have the vehicle when I get there. Zero stars for the national chain for letting me reserve a non-existent vehicle, compounded by the snarky attitude of the lady (would have been zero, but she did make a call to check, so that earns a star). How to improve? Stop allowing reservations if no vehicles available, train agents to not antagonize customers who are already dissatisfied. read more

Never in my life have I dealt with more incompetent people. Especially Natasha- what an absolute disastrous employee for Hertz. These people didn't even call me to let me know. They had zero cars available in one electric car left, and it would be more expensive. Then when I arrive, they won't take my temporary Texas drivers license that's officially witnessed state or my state of Texas ID card. I've never dealt with anyone more incompetence in my entire life. This happened today at 10:30am! read more

Hertz - Car Rental Near Me - Houston, Texas

1 star, not necessarily for the service but for this locations practices. I rented a vehicle, suppliers choice to drive from New Orleans back to Houston. This Hertz site in particular doesn't have after hours drop off which is super inconvenient. I don't even think I've ever had to deal with any other rental company that does that. Super inconvenient. I tried to drop the car off before work, but because the gates were locked couldn't even do that. So then by default, I was stuck having to pay the late fees. Even when I tried to call customer service to explain the situation or move to a different drop off location no one answered after I was on hold for over an hour. I wouldn't recommend using Hertz. And a whole bunch of other "convenience fees" huh? Just stick with enterprise or dollar budget etc. read more

I had a Reservation. When I got to the front desk, I was told that there's no available vehicles. The attended was rude and asked me to call the 1800 Hundred Number. On the 800 number I waited for over 30 Minutes to speak to someone. When somebody eventually came to the phone. The representative told me that they would give me another car for the price of my reservation. The manager on duty at the time told me that they don't have any vehicles so luckily, I still had the sales representative on the phone. He heard what the manager said and he found another vehicle inside the Galleria in Houston, Texas. I told the representative to stay with me on the phone until I get to the other location. Once I got to the other location, the representative hung up on me. I asked the representative from Hertz rental car in the Galleria about my reservation. she stated that there are no other vehicles. After I wasted two hours and was not able to get a vehicle. And therefore I was not able to attend my meeting. Extremely bad. Customer Service. I do not recommend this company. Nobody should rent a vehicle from this place. There are so many other car rental places for us to rent from. read more

Jazz and Natasha always go above and beyond for me!!! I've rented 3 times. Thanks guys. Super efficient process and a breeze.

Good luck if you choose to use this location. Earlier today I reserved a small, inexpensive car for a week, online. Complete with confirmation number. Total, with all fees was to be $153.53 for the week. Upon arrival, they had very few cars on their lot. Was told they didn't have a car that met that price range. Instead we could have paid an EXTRA $35 PER DAY or an EXTRA $100 PER DAY for a higher premium car. We left. Total grift. For being located near the Galleria, this place is NOT what you'd expect to see. BTW, we booked through Priceline, but I doubt that makes any difference. read more

I got an accident. State Farm asked me to use a rental car. I visited here. Hertz sent text messages, It seemed that my car was ready. When I called, someone at this location said" We don't have your car". I said" What?". I checked the Yelp reviews. It was common. Anyway, they called and said" Your car is ready. I got a Nissan. I thought State Farm covered everything. But Hertz said" Would you like protections( Insurance)? I had to buy the insurance for $24. Overall, the car was okay. But the insurance was very expensive. I had to use the METRO bus to commute! Thanks! read more

Would give ZERO stars if I could! DO NOT use this Hertz. 1. They did not have the car I reserved. I booked a full size sedan and they tried to give me a compact hatchback after telling me it was a full sized sedan. 2. I was given a car that had not been serviced or cleaned. Car was very dirty with trash and food from the last guest who used it. 3. The car stated that an oil change was required. I tried contacting the location but could not get anyone on the phone because they were closed. I had to GET AN OIL CHANGE AND CAR WASH. I have been trying to contact Hertz for 2 WEEKS after returning the car to get reimbursed for the oil change and car wash that I HAD TO PAY FOR. I have called 20+ times to speak with a manager. I have left notes with other employees to have the manager call me.... Nothing. No return calls. After finally speaking with a manager they told me they can't reimburse me for anything because I should have gotten pre-approval before getting an oil change. I tried to contact them when I saw the service notification in the car but they DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE. This is absolutely ridiculous. They have lost my business and my entire family over a $70 reimbursement for an oil change and car wash... DO NOT waste your time here. read more

Hertz - Oil change required upon pick up. - Car Rental Near Me - Houston, Texas

I needed a car for my road trip. I had originally made a reservation at a different Hertz location (Westheimer) but that location pretty much screwed me over (see my other review to be drafted) so I made a reservation at this location and they came through last minute! To be fair to this Hertz location, I made my reservation the night before I needed my car, and it was after closing time so they didn't get to see my reservation until the morning. I received a phone call around 7 in the morning informing me that they didn't have a car for me, but they would put me on the waiting list just in case a car became available. Long story short, it did! Pick up process: Your standard rental car pick up process. They didn't try to offer me all the different insurance options (I would have refused anyway since my credit card pretty much covers everything). They didn't tell me anything about the fuel level. Didn't explain anything to me. The only thing they did do is walk out to the car and check for any visible damages. Anyway, I drove away and I started to notice that I couldn't change the radio station, couldn't connect my phone to car's bluetooth system, etc. Pretty much the radio/bluetooth/system console constantly froze. I had to call back to ask for a different car. When I came back, I was told that THE MANAGER WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE THE CAR WAS HAVING! The staff kept telling me that it would just take the car's system to operate. Nope! I drove about 15 minutes from Hertz to my work and about 30 minutes back (because of Galleria's traffic) and guess what? That's 45 minutes of frozen system. How long is "a while?" Also, knowing that the car had an issue, why wouldn't you get this issue fixed first? Anyway, I was given another car - a Ford Escape. What I didn't realize was that the car had a "My Key" system that I was unfamiliar with. Once I had the car, I found out that the car had the maximum speed limited to 80 mph. Every time the car would reach 75 mph, it would make a chime; and when it would reach 80 mph, it would make three chimes. Let's just say that during my rental period, I just wanted to rip that system out because the chime was driving me insane! Also, the radio volume was limited to a certain level. Sigh. So I picked up the car around 2 pm in the afternoon. But for whatever reason, the rental paper said that I would need to return the car by 8 am. On the day of return, I called them and asked if I could get an updated rental paperwork that would show that I had the car until 2 pm (because one day is 24 hours and not 18 hours, you dig?) and the person on the phone was telling me that I only had the car until 8 because when I made the reservation, I requested an 8 am pick up (see the part above where they told me they didn't actually have a car) and they wouldn't change the return time unless I specifically requested it (Like, really?! REALLY?!). I was already pretty annoyed at this time and so I asked her, "how much does it cost for me to extend the rental period until 2 pm?!" You know what she told me? She said, "there's no charge." HOLY F'ING SHIT dude. I asked for an updated paperwork that showed 2 pm as the return time and you gave me shit, but when I asked what it would cost to extend the rental period a few hours until 2 pm, you'd tell me it's free?!?!?! Like Seriously?! Is there any justification for you to give me shit the first time around? Pretty horrible experience overall. The only reason why this is not a 1-star review is due to the fact that they did come through with a car last minute. That is pretty much it. read more

I found this place on Priceline and Expedia. This is where it gets tricky. There are 2 locations that's almost identical as far as the addressed is concerned. When I arrived I was told the other location was closed. They said the guy rents out of here. I had to cancel my reservation though it was a Kai me online, and book here. We reserved a car for 08-05-22 when reserving we wanted a Jetta or a car similar is what we were promised. When arriving they stated they did not have it and we were giving 1 option a SUV a much larger option and were told we would have to pay an upcharge. Then we wanted to cancel the reservation and they stated they can not do that so we had to call customer service and they we able to cancel the reservation. I would not use this company again as we have used Enterprise in the past and have had a smooth transaction. My bad for trying somebody new. No stars, this is the 2 Hertz I've been to and after making reservations have a million stipulations to rent. This particular location has one worker working the desk taking calls (had me on hold for 20 minutes the day before) AND CLEANING CARS! They don't have ANY cars and have been up charging people all day for SUV's. My appointment was for 1pm it's is now 2:30 and I have seen so much chaos at this site. I called the day before since I was turned away from another Hertz for not booking 24hrs before to use my debit card. After a 20 minute wait and hanging up and calling back I finally spoke to someone and confirmed that I could use my debit card only to show up today and have him tell me only for small cars and he only has SUV's. TIPS: Use Cashback Monitor to find out who is over the most cash back at Hertz Use Autoslash to ensure you are getting the best rate for your rental PROS: Had the size vehicle I wanted, check out and return process was easy and fast CONS: car defects (needed to pump air in the tire every single day, check engine oil light on), only 1 person behind counter, no follow up call during my reservation and never asked me "how my rental was" when I returned the car I'm a loyal Enterprise customer for many good reasons. Unfortunately there was a compact & mid size car shortage two weeks ago at all Enterprises in Houston. Since Geico was making my reservation the only other option they gave me was Hertz, and luckily they had a mid size car. I picked up a 2018 Chevy Malibu with all the bells and whistles. I was excited to drive it. Unfortunately, it was defective. The check engine oil light came on a few miles into my drive home. The following day and every day after that until I returned the car I had to pump air in one tire that kept setting off the TPS light. This afternoon I returned the vehicle and while the process was fast, the person who helped me never asked how my rental was so I could explain the issues with the car I encountered. When I got home I called the Hertz customer service phone number and explained my first time experience with Hertz. They apologized and offered me enough bonus points for a free rental. read more

A similar situation as the one below...do not rent from this hertz (even with a free rental coupon)!!!! I had a 730am pickup at this hertz with a free day rental. I arrived early morning to pick up a rental, but came to find out the safe was still locked and they could not give any keys out until the manager arrived (with the keys to the safe) at 930. I missed both appointments that I had scheduled that morning. I return the car that day (7 hours later) and there computers were down, so I could not get a receipt saying it was paid with a coupon. The clerk promised me he would not charge my card and would apply my coupon once the computers were up again. Well that didn't happen, my card was charged and the headaches began. I was communicating with warren, but seemed he could not refund my account with out crystal's (manager of this location) approval. After 20 call and month and a half later, I have still not been able to reach crystal to get a refund or get any type or customer service. I am finally going to let my credit card company handle this and contact the better business bureau. NEVER going to rent from here again. They are okay with stealing from people and giving them the run around until they give up! read more

I finally have time to write this review, 2 YEARS LATER! I try to write reviews when I have stepped away from the situation and analysed everything. I have been renting cars for quite some time and usually have a great experience. However, this location was the WORST experience I have ever had. Reserved a car online (usual process), I then went to collect the car and went through the usual rental process. Time comes for me to pay. The rep tells me the cost of the rental and the deposit to hold amounts. I specifically asked how much will be held because some rental agencies will hold the deposit and return the difference of the rental vs the deposit (depending on which is more) and some will charge the amount plus the deposit. Sounds normal right! He then tells me they will only hold the deposit amount. I transfer that amount to my active checking account. Proceeded with payment. Charged declined! Not sure why at this point. I asked again how much did you try to charge? He charged the deposit and rental amount. Per policy, they are not allowed to run your card again. Like WTF, I specifically asked because I do not hold all my money on an active checking account. Ask to speak to the manager, the manager was attending to a customer account. I explained the situation to him. He then says "He told you the amount." I said yes he did but I asked what amount was my card going to be charged. He then repeats himself (still not acknowledging these are two totally different questions plus he was occupied with another customer to know the entire conversation) and says they are not able to run my card again. So I was left without a car for a 2 week vacation. I took my butt to ENTERPRISE and got a car, no problem. I will NEVER go to this location again. I was so upset, that I was going to write Hertz off completely but I have always had a great experience with them so I will just boycott this one. read more

I have no idea why this location of Hertz has generated such negative reviews. I recently rented a cargo van from them and had a terrific experience. The van had low mileage, ran very well, and gave me no problems at all for a long trip to Louisiana. The check-in and check-out process was a breeze and there were no additional "add-in" charges tacked on at the conclusion of the rental period that were not discussed up front. Their personnel couldn't have been more friendly or helpful, and I would especially like to give recognition to Natasha who not only answered all my questions, but had the courtesy to call me during the middle of my rental period to make sure everything was OK with the vehicle. Great service! The only issue I had was not with the van itself, but the vehicle insurance cost if you wanted to take it. It was extremely expensive at $31.99/day, which was almost as much as the cost of the per-day rental fee. Lesson learned. If you want coverage, book it through the website and not at the counter. Other than that, an overall A+ for the experience! read more

Back in May 2017, for reasons are not relevant I had to rent a vehicle and my insurance made all the arrangements necessaries for me to obtain a rental. I was given a rental for about 15 days from Hertz. It was a nice vehicle, I don't have any issues. When bringing back the car, I forgot my watch on the back seat. I knew 100% the watch was in the back, I saw it as I was dropping off the vehicle but with 2 babies things can get hectic and I completely forgot about the watch and took off. I remembered the same day and came back, to what a representative told me the car had just been rented and wasn't at the property any more but they will get in touch with me later to find out what happened. Nov 2017 and just last week I got a call from manager saying they will reimburse the amount of the watch. I appreciate what you guys did, but I don't appreciate the waiting period and the multiple calls and email it took for resolution. UPDATE: it's 4/10/18 and I'm just getting my refund. Same experience as Len. Made a reservation. Even opted for the upgrade that they offer to incentivize people from renting from smaller Hertz locations. When I got there there were no cars available and they have me a small crappy car. No mention of 'oh sorry let me help you find a location that you can swap with'. Had to ask the person if that's possible and he acted like, ya of course you can do that. They would pick up phone calls while speaking so the process took longer. Never going back here read more

DO NOT, for the love of all that is holy, rent a car from this place. Like the other reviewers, I reserved a car in advance. When I got there they said there would be a 10 minute delay. After 15 minutes I started getting annoyed and they told me some story about why the car wasn't ready. They offered me a ride back to my hotel and said they would call when the car was ready. I said no and began to get angry. When I was starting to cause a scene they magically found a car that was sitting on the lot the whole time. When I made the reservation I said that I would drop the car off at the airport. When I got my contract it said the drop off was at this location and I was told they could not change and I needed to call an 800 number. I was charged $10 for the change and the person on the phone said the manager at the airport could have it removed. When I got to the airport the manager said she could not remove it and that the people at the West Loop location could have changed it. Jalesia Peair from the Hertz location at 3141 West Loop South in Houston, TX - was a nightmare to deal with and very poor customer service. She literally yelled at us & gave an attitude even prior to that for what is a completely reasonable request. We could have given this company more business by renting the car we rented for a few more weeks, as our insurance covered the cost. However, all we asked was for a different car because our AC was not working and it's hot above 90 degrees here daily. So of course the AC not working properly is a big deal and valid request. They did not have another car, which is completely fine. However, the problem was her rudeness and the lack of effort Jalesia made. We asked if she could at least call another Hertz for us to check if they had a replacement car...but her response was rudely, "You guys can call them yourselves." We told her we understand that, but as someone who literally works there and this is their job, the small act of at least calling another location to see their availability before we head all the way over there would have shown some level of care or customer service. But she literally gave ZERO EFFORT OR CARE. She raised her voice and just went off at us both. We were shocked. On top of that, she was charging us extra cost for wanting to return it to a different Hertz location. We then just drove all the way back to the original Hertz location we rented from, returned the car and went to another company to rent again for the remainder of the few weeks we need. Hertz - Thanks to one person, we won't ever rent another car from you guys or tell anyone else to. read more

So last week on Monday, someone ran a red light and hit my car. Due to that, I had to take my car to the body shop and deal with Hertz for my rental car. Had a positive experience with the southwest freeway location, but since my accident I am having some back and neck issues with the car seats. So I called this location to check and see if I can get this car exchanged. I have been calling since Saturday trying to get this car exchanged and not only was the lady who picked up the phone rude to me, she put me on hold telling me to calm down?? Listen lady when you were in an accident that was not your fault and you've been feeling neck and back pain because of the car seating and you've been trying to get this car exchanged for the last three days, you would be pretty upset too!! So since she wasn't any help, I ended up calling State Farm to make a complaint so they called hertz and hopefully today I should be able to exchange my car for a better car. I want to warn everyone regarding the shady and deceptive business practices of this particular Hertz Rental location. I went in and rented a vehicle in late March from this location while I had my car in a body shop for repairs. I had the vehicle approximately a week and returned it to the body shop after the customer rep for Hertz told me they would pick it up directly from the shop. My billing was set up through my insurance since I had rental reimbursement, so I did not expect any charges on my credit card. I was very surprised a couple days later when I checked my bank statement and found a charge for over $185.00 on my card from Hertz. When I called to inquire about the charge, I was told they charged me for a gas charge for returning the car not fully gased up. I then advised them it was clearly stated on my rental contract that when I rented the car, it only had 1/4 of a tank of gas in it and that there was something wrong with their gas pump that day so they marked on my contract and in their computer that I only had to return it as such with 1/4 tank of gas. The rep immediately confirmed I was correct and let me speak to the location manager, Crystal. She said she would submit the credit for immediate return to my credit card and after taxes were taken out, I was due a credit of $158.10. She said she would fast track this credit due to me and try to have it returned to me within 2-3 days since the normal authorization and return time is 5-7 business days. So, I waited a week and still hadn't noticed it returned to my credit card so I dropped by the location to speak to Crystal and she checked on her computer and said the credit owed to my account had been authorized on April 8th and should be in my account within a few days. This however did not occur and so I stopped by again on April 15th and she said that Hertz had 5 business days to have it put in, which would have been the following day on April 16th and that it should be in my account by end of the day on April 16th. That didn't occur either and I tried calling her three times during the remainder of that week including stopping by once to inquire about the credit again and each time she was out of the office and didn't return my calls. I was finally called back by a Hertz rep at that location on Friday the 19th and asked to email Crystal with a detailed explanation about the charge to my card and credit owed to me so she could inquire about it to Hertz corporate. I did this and never got an email response and have tried calling a few times about it since and have had no return phone calls at all from her. I called the corporate office for Hertz to speak to either a regional manager or someone over that office and they tell me that it has to be handled by the local office and there is nothing they can do about it. I just wish to warn everyone to please avoid at all costs this location. It's terrible customer service and I'm very, very dissatisfied with the way I've been treated and the way this whole matter has been handled. I'm owed a refund for a charge I should never have incurred and it seems they just want to sweep it under the carpet and hope I will go away. These are very shady and unfair business practices when they have promised me time and again my refund would be put back on my card and this has never occurred and now they are avoiding and not returning my calls. Where I work I deal in the auto business and we make rental referrals and deal with body shops all over town and I will make sure to let everyone know to avoid this Hertz rental car location at all costs and to never rent a car from this location as the customer service has been absolutely terrible. read more
