Do not book through their phone number, it's a literal SCAM!!!! I just spoke to a gentleman named "Sam" that took all my information down -- all of it including my card which I found a bit odd considering they never told me the price of anything (first red flag). He then proceeded to transfer me to his "supervisor" who's name apparently was also "Sam" 2nd Sam then recorded my voice stating all my information again (2nd red flag) and tried to get me to download an app on my phone called ANYDESK. For those not aware, this is a legitimate app used by scammers to take control of your device. That's were I ended the call. Please do not fall for this and trust your gut feeling. DO NOT Rent a car from Hertz. I booked a car as part of my airline travel, then two days later canceled the reservation because I read how Hertz has been renting cars with stolen license plates. People were getting pulled over while innocently driving their rentals, in the Midwest [where I am headed in late June]. It was still billed to our account, even though I had canceled within the time limit for a full refund. When I contacted them, I had to read the guy the contract information and gave proof of the cancelation date. Was finally told I would get a full refund. He had been trying to get over $100 as penalty. Well the credit came through--$50 less. Have rented from them frequently over the years BUT NEVER AGAIN! read more

Friday... 09/19/2014 Finally got the car, he was late and the Braker location said he went to lunch when he arrives, all slow like there is no concern or care int he world he tells me "I had to fill it up with gas" Oh, ok, and it took 30+ minutes? right. And it stinks. Like smoke and a very cheap cover up fragrance. "I'm sorry. If it becomes unbearable we can switch cars for you" Really? Thanks, Markus, you're a real gem, dude. Sunday or Monday I call because the rear tire keeps losing air. Except I call the Braker location, because no way on earth do i wish to deal with "Markus" again.. Low and behold..wouldn't you know.. Markus answered the phone... brother. I tell him the problem.. his response; Markus: "It's just due to the temperature drop. Tires tend to do that" Me: "Just one tire?" Markus: "Just put air in it a few times and if it continues to lose air you can give us a call and we'll replace it for you" (Isn't that what I heard about the smell as well?) YES. The next morning the tire is now 15lbs low. I call again, to a different location, because I cannot do Markus anymore. BEYOND incensed right now. I rented a car at the Roger Beasley collission center back in late September after getting in a small wreck. The guy who hit me was going to pay for the rental (he wanted to not deal with insurance). He couldn't get there until the day after I picked the car up. He was going to give them his credit card at this time. So I had to give them my card in order to have a car to drive until the guy came there to give them his card. Like he said, he went there a day later and gave them his card. Ashley (at the Hertz desk at the collision shop) verified that over the phone with me. a few weeks after returning the car, I see a $375 charge on my credit card! Jerks charged the wrong card, even though she said it was COMPLETELY out of their system. I've fought with Hertz since mid-October about this and they promised to reverse the charge, just needed clearance from Corporate. Fast forward to mid-December. STILL not resolved, and now corporate said they won't reverse it unless there's another card to charge. What kind of luck do you think I'll have to get the guy who hit me to pay? I sure wouldn't if I was in his shoes. I'd walk the 10 miles to work ahead of renting from this location again. read more

I would have given this a big ZERO if it was an option. Hertz has the worst customer service, they are dishonest, and only want your money. Their cars are not taken care of and caused our things to get locked in the glove box if the SUV we were renting. Instead of popping the lock, they told us they were going to take the vehicle back to the dealership, then overnight our things to the house we are staying at on our next leg of our vacation. After a week of daily calls, requests for the confirmation and tracking numbers, we still haven't received a package, response, or apology. I rented a car from this location. I had opted for Hertz's car insurance not realizing my personal car insurance covered rentals. After calling my personal insurance company and verifying the coverage I called this Hertz location to cancel the Hertz car insurance. The representative said he will take care of it. I dropped the car off at the 11906 IH 35 location, and told the representative there that I had canceled the insurance. I told him I wanted to make sure my credit card wasn't charged for the insurance. He said he will call the other location to make sure it isn't charged. Despite telling two different representatives my concern my credit card was still charged $183 for insurance the 7 days I had the car. The first person's excuse was that he entered it in the system, but it "didn't take." When I directly asked the second guy why he didn't follow through with my concern he responded, "Oh, you mentioned that here?" The customer service was friendly, but the two locations are highly incompetent. Had I used my debit card to rent the car I would have run the risk of over-drafting my checking account. I will never rent from Hertz knowing that they don't care about it's customers. To add insult to injury they will not reverse the charge on my credit card. I have to wait two weeks for them to cut me a check. So, not only am I paying for their incompetence I have to wait for their leisure to print me a check. read more

We were told are car was ready. Came to pick up car. No one in front of us (except customer on the phone) asked to wait (20 minutes so far). Was told twice "it would be a few minutes" (??? If it's under 5, a few minutes would be appropriate. If not, give estimates in increments of 5 minutes). Went to Enterprise and picked up a car instantly. When we were initially on the phone with them, they could told us when the car would actually be ready to pick up. Comes across as a business that does several things. Unfortunately, none of them competently. "Employees" look miserable - not sure how they were forced to work in a place they obviously don't want to be. read more

I had reserved a car online, but when I got there, Hertz worked with me because I was getting a repair, which saved a little money. John, the representative, was unbelievably helpful and quick. He was thorough, friendly, and made sure that everything was taken care of. My car was scheduled for repair at Covert Ford on Hwy 183 North in Austin on 1/3/13. Hertz is located in the lobby of Covert Ford. I rented the vehicle on Thursday for one day at a rate of $79.00. I returned the vehicle on Friday 1/4/13. I called Hertz to inform them I was dropping my keys with the Covert Ford counter person as I was told to do. On 1/8/13, my credit card was charged $410.00. I have called this office several times. Finally, the manager spoke with me and told me the credit would be applied to my credit card account but it would take 7-10 days. Of course, the credit never appeared. The manager has not returned my calls. I have sent a letter to this office and the corporate office. I have received no response. I have contacted Covert Ford but they cannot help. However, they will inform Hertz of my service dates if anyone from Hertz ever investigates this overcharge. I have ordered a stop payment for fraud with my bank. This will take up to 60 days. The credit just posted to my credit card account last month. Now, Hertz is sending me threatening letters attempting to collect the $410.00. I have telephoned Hertz twice in the past week and both times I was left on hold for over 30 minutes when I hung up. When my insurance agent set me up with a competitor's rental car that I absolutely hated, I called the Hertz location on site at Roger Beasley. John went above and beyond to help me get into a decent car for my allotted $30 a day coverage. And he even offered to pick me up at the competition's location where I returned my first rental car. I drive a lot for my job, so John assisted me in making sure the car he was renting me was comfortable and that I knew where all the gadgets were located. I rent a car from Hertz for business purposes regularly when I travel. I do not take their insurance because I am covered under my own. I was rear ended by two other vehicles and the hertz rental car sustained very minor damage to it and I was fine. The last car behind me had Geico insurance and Geico called me and said that they would cover any rental car damage not a problem because their driver was at fault. I filled out the vehicle incident report (twice because hertz could not locate the first one that I had filled out) and then called the hertz representative a few times to ensure that all things were in order and gave them the Geico claim number and all the details including photos, police report etc. I called the following week to verify that they had all the insurance information that they needed and was assured that all was in order. Two months later I get a letter from a collection company that I owed them 1350 $ on behalf of Hertz corporation and I should pay up. On following up I learnt that Hertz did never contact Geico, sat on my paper work for two months and sent it to a collection company because they were overwhelmed. I pay 300 $ a week to rent a car from Hertz and at National where I rent they typically rent about 4000 cars a week - and make a cool million+ each week just at one airport. Guess the big shots pocket the money and don't bother hiring appropriate staff for their needs. I am told that if I don't take their insurance - they don't typically care and send it to a collection agency to deal with. I have been paying Hertz 300 $ a week for many many weeks - more than enough to pay for the price of the car I drive and over and above - yet they treat me the customer with such clear disdain. Geico said that they had been waiting for Hertz to follow up on the claim and they were very professional and great to deal with. I will never rent a car from Hertz again and of course I will switch to Geico insurance. Lessons learnt. Customer service is the hallmark of a good service oriented corporation and Hertz does not have it. read more

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. We had a HORRIBLE experience at this Hertz. I was picking up a car here under an insurance company, and I called an hour before coming in to confirm my car. I was informed I could come in and pick it up that day. When I arrived, I had to wait over thirty minutes for the Hertz representative to arrive (fifteen minutes of which, the representative was there and just chose not to attend to me). At this point, the rep told me she had no cars available and none of the other Austin locations had cars available. She made a feeble attempt to "make some calls" which caused me to wait pointlessly for about another hour, at which point she returned and rudely informed me she couldn't help. Throughout the whole process, the Hertz rep was rude and careless. After I spent about ten minutes on the phone with another Hertz in Austin, they had a car brought over to me - so CLEARLY, there was something she could have done to help. Additionally, the rep informed me she couldn't process the paperwork for me for the car being brought over, even though the other Hertz facility sent her the paperwork and asked me to tell her to do it for me. Finally, I called the rep's manager, who told me she would speak with the rep and get back to me - which also never happened. I am NEVER renting from Hertz again. They gave me the impression that they really couldn't care less about their customers. read more
